I got a quote on shutters on 04/14/2020 and had them completed about 6 months later. After installing I realized that the keys that were provided for one of my shutter windows werent working. I contacted their company numerous times and then I saw online they went out of business. These shutters are supposed to have a 10 year warranty on them, but now I am stuck without a lockable shutter, no warranty whatsoever, and faulty shutters.

Improper Installation caused damage to the panels. They refused to come out and repair after installing and told me to buy a threshold to help seal the garage door tighter and stop the light coming through the panels. That worked until we had some storms where the rain hit the garage and water came in through the panels. They refused to come out and replace the panels and fix the issue. They said they were out of business. They told me to contact the manufacturer and have a rep look at it. I did and the Manufacturer stated they installed everything incorrectly and damage the doors. They will replace the doors but I have to pay for the labor. They also installed a hurricane front door with the hinges on the wrong side. I just cant deal with that also right now.I requested a copy of their bond information they refused.

Owner ******************* has been operating without a valid permit or staff. She is a scammer and a heartless person. My I have paid over 10K for installation of hurricane shutters. She is unwilling to obtain permit and told me to take care of it myself while having already installed half the shutters under the impression that the permit was obtained. Never have I met such a business and a cruel person to hang up on customers. She is currently being sued by credit card companies and closed down, yet did not take responsibility for the contact I signed with her. Blatantly, has lied every time I spoke with her. Half my materials are stuck in her garage and she is requesting payment for labor that was not done and payment for permit that was not done.

I believe it was in August I hired J Howen Windows and Doors to install 4 windows in my home in Leisureville, the price was to be $5900.00 and they requested a deposit of $1664.00 which I gave. They never mailed me a receipt. After waiting a few weeks I called and they said there was a backup on orders. Finally Im not sure what month it was I received a call stating that *********************** [their installers] has stolen all their money and they didnt have any left to return my deposit. Im an 80 year old woman on SS Id like to know if I have any recourse, especially when all I have is a business card with the price of the windows on it.

One year ago, J Howen Doors and Shutters completed installing accordion shutters and impact glass at my house. The installation was completed after a much longer wait time than what we were originally told. The final inspection has still not been performed. I have sent emails, text messages and I can not get anyone from this company to complete the job they were paid for.

    J. Howen doors installed accordion shutters for me in 2021. Midway i discovered they were working without a permit. I called wellington village and they stopped them. I refused to pay the fine for not getting a permit since it was their responsibility to do so. They did get a permit and work was eventually completed after many harrasing phone calls to pay them for incomplete work. They supposed completed the work and I paid them. This hurricane season in September 2022 I noticed I couldnt completely close one opening during a full blown hurricane. The shutters were too small for the opening. I contacted them and they immediately came, but refuse to fix the problem and they are not accepting my phone calls. they said they are closing shop and selling to a new owner. All the staff have left--they short of staff and eventually stop accepting my calls.

Signed a contract In June 2022 with J Howen *********************************************** for the installation of accordian shutters and hurricane glass windows. Paid $4930.00 as down payment to initiate the contract, and was told the installation would be in September or October. Received an email in October of 2022 from the owner ******************* that her installation contractor had walked away from all contracts with J Howen. ***** then stated that my deposit is gone, all permit applications were canceled and orders had not been placed. I personally called ***** to seek a resolution of getting my deposit back, and was told that I could not get my deposit back and seeking an attorney for a resolution may cost as much as the deposit I am out. She told me should we call me next week to seek some kind of a resolution on installing just the accordians, but she never called back. If you go on ****** and Yelp reviews regarding this company you will see there are others in the same predicament as myself. I am a Sr person, and in my life I have never dealt with a company as such.

I signed a contract on July 7, 2022 with this company to provide and install accordion shutters on my home. Company was given a $2,500.00 deposit at this time. Company stated installation to be in approximately 60 days. On August 31 owner called me stating that she was a victim of identity theft and fraud and wanted to delay my install date. I told her that I did not feel comfortable with the situation and asked her to return my $2,500.00 deposit. She texted me saying that was not necessary she would be completing the job. No response was received to the effect of any installation nor a refund. On Sept. 13, I emailed the company, again requesting a refund of my deposit. To date they refuse to refund the money deposited. On October 12 the owner, when I requested refund again, stated to me she would not refund my money and to file a small claims action. She further stated, "She did not think that would go very far" (good luck). She also stated "I am moving money around", which is a very dubious comment.

On Feb 02, 2022, I signed an agreement with this company to replace 17 windows at my home, for impact windows. The total price is $16,454. Proposal # ******.The agreement was an initial payment of $5,484. Second payment for $5,484 once windows were delivered, and a final payment of $5,486 once the installation work has been completed.I made the first payment on Feb 02, 2022, and the estimated time for windows fabrication was about 4 months. After several calls and visits to their offices, from June to August 2022, and the personnel in charge informing different dates for installation, the owner called me explaining that the windows were already manufacturated, but they needed to pay their supplier and they were having financial troubles, so asked me to make the second payment. After checking up by myself that the city permit was going on and almost ready to be approved, on Sep. 01, 2022 I made the second payment. The owner immediately informed that installation date would be on the week of Sep. 19, 2022. Passed this week and all month without any call or excuses. On Oct. 9, 2022 the owner sent to me an email telling that they now have harder financial problems, so asking me to make the final payment directly to their supplier in order to the windows to be delivered, and promising the installation after that. This is unacceptable, and informed to the owner that I had already paid for the windows to be delivered.Today, Oct 11, 2022, I sent an email to the owner requiring the completion of the work to make the final payment as were originally agreed, or make the refund to me for $10,968.No positive answer after that.
