For over 2 years we have been receiving deceptive mail from this company attempting to sell us a home warranty. We already have two home warranty policies covering the entire home. The letters are deceptive for the following reasons:1. They state; RE: HOME WARRANTY FOR REVERSE MORTGAGE MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS 2. The monthly letters always state: CALL IMMEDIATELY, FINAL ATTEMPT TO NOTIFY YOU. 3. Today I called the number provided to request they remove us from their mailing list. The man I talked to stated he could not do that but could only transfer my existing home warranties to their plan. When I explained I was happy with my existing plans he became belligerent and hung up on me. This company is fraudulently attempting to essentially threaten me if I dont purchase a warranty from them. I want this practice stopped. My wife and I are in our middle 70s. I believe they are attempting to prey on us because of our age. Please help. Thank you. Please note you have their address listed as **************************************************** The address on their letter is ******************************************************************Business Response

On 7/20/24 I called the phone number listed on the letter my deceased father received from Helping Hand Home Warranty to have his name removed from their mailing list. My father passed away in December of 2023 and I am his personal representative for this estate. The man I talked to was very rude. He told me that I was committing a felony by trying to have my father's name removed from their mailing list. Helping Hand Home Warranty is sending these letters to my address. Then he proceeded to hang up on me. I have been calling many many companies to have my father's name removed from their mailing list with much success. Can someone please help me have his name removed from Helping Hand Home Warranty and any of their affiliates. Thank you for your assistance.Business Response

Received yet another intimidating letter from Helping Hand Home Warranty "to get your Home Warranty coverage up to date"--"FINAL OFFER." That our "renewal date" is 8/19/2024. The 2nd page is worse especially for seniors who don't fully understand their reverse mortgage or HECM Loam as it says in BOLD ITALICS that to avoid defalult or foreclosure, borrowers must keep the house in good repair and that to do that you must have activated home warranty coverage. Why is this company allowed to send this kind misrepresentation to vulnerable elders over and over? I am outraged that there is no regulation or means to stop this. Or at least require them to provide names and addresses of all those contacted who are over 65 to AARP and then require Helping Hand to correct the threats and intimidation and apologize to those people in a separate letter. Thank you.Business Response

Helping Hands Home Warranty constantly sends harassing and almost threatening letters trying to get me to purchase their home warranty. Since August 2023 I have been getting unsolicited "Final Offer" mailings from Helping Hand Home Warranty for "Reverse Mortgage Maintenance Requirements". Their information is incorrect and I reminded them that a home warranty is NOT REQUIRED with a reverse mortgage. On Feb. 10, 2024 I requested removal of my name AND address from their marketing lists and data banks after receiving a 3rd Final Offer. Today, April 29, 2024 I received a 4th Final Offer. I'm tired of the blatant disrespect by shady outfits like Helping Hand Home Warranty. I want NOTHING to do with them. Please ask them to remove my name AND address from their system. Thank you.Business Response

Company continues to send me highly suspect letters targeting seniors with a reverse mortgage, warning of serious consequences if I don't buy their home warranty immediately. These letters are marked "FINAL OFFER", "EXTREMELY URGENT", IMMEDIATE RESPONSE REQUIRED", etc. They want you to call ************ which is a call center that utilizes extremely high pressure sales tactics. These letters have continued to be mailed to my address even after repeated requests to remove me from their mailing list. My request , again, is to REMOVE ME FROM THE MAILING LISTS of ALL their companies including those using different names, different telephone numbers and different addresses. I am keeping a running list of all these companies for future reference.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: Please see their statement, "We respect consumer choice and do not engage in unsolicited contact or force purchases. Consumers can opt out of our mailing list at any time." I have been trying to do exactly that for years,OPT OUT, with absolutely no results. That is the primary reason for my complaint to the BBB.

Complaint: 21275763
I am rejecting this response because: I received on April 22, 2024, yet another of these "FINAL ATTEMP" LETTERS, even after all the calls, the BBB letters, and complaints to other agencies who, by the way, are in the process of reviewing the situation. I have kept many of these letters, along with their envelopes, and I am in the process of gathering a number of my neighbors and acquaintences who also are fed up with this forced, high pressure sales tactic. The only way I will let this situation go will be when the company, Helping Hand Home Warranty, sends me a certified letter by a responsible company executive stating that they will no longer send these letters to me. Failing that, I am determined to continue taking action on each and every single new "FINAL ATTEMP" letter they send me.
Sincerely,

My 87 yr old mother received a letter from Helping Hands stating that her warranty on her home was expiring and to give them a call. When she did, the representative told her that she was in violation of her reverse mortgage and she had to sign up today for a policy and give several hundred dollars immediately to stay current. Then she needs to pay $270 per month for her home warranty. They were very clear that my mother is in violation of her reverse mortgage. My mother has insurance on her home. She is fully compliant with her reverse mortgage. She doesnt not have to have a home warranty and when she has had one in the past, she used entirely different companies. This is predatory.Business Response

I have rec'd letters from Helping Hand Home Warranty the last year telling me that my home warranty with the former mortgage holder is ready to or had expired and final attempt as of Jan 10, **** and in order to avoid default and/or foreclosure must continue to pay taxes, keep home in good repair, etc. The letter to me sounds threatening in content and that I'm receiving the letter as I haven't contacted them to activate the coverage on my home. I was NEVER advised that I had this type of warranty on my home. I feel this may not be considered a 'scam' but it's upsetting to continue receiving these type of mailings making you feel you HAVE to have this. I'm 84 and feel they're going after the elderly.Business Response
