We had a water leak at our house causing damage to drywall and insulation of main floor and basement bathrooms. This occurred end of November 2021. We contacted our insurance carrier ********************* immediately after having Restoration 1 come inspect the damage and come up with a mitigation and rebuild plan.Mitigation was started right away, and ********* insurance agent performed online inspection of the damage on 12/2/21. I notified Restoration 1 from the beginning that this work would be done under our home insurance claim. A claim was filed immediately and inspection was done on 12/2/21. Restoration 1 agreed to work with our insurance company. Once mitigation was completed, I made prompt payment in the billed amount of $2,213.91 on 12/9/21.Restoration work began at our home on 12/15/2021. At no point before or during the rebuild work did Restoration 1 tell us about the work cost estimate. They said they would work with insurance company. The ********* claims agent says he did his part and provided estimate on damages and cost of work to rebuild. However, he never received any approval or denial of his estimate. Work continued to completion without authorization from the insurance company or me (homeowner).This has lead to problems with billing, namely:1) Restoration 1 charging significantly higher than insurance estimate.2) Charges on the Restoration 1 estimate (which I never previewed before work began or completed) showing charges for work not done. Restoration 1 charged for HVAC work, duct work, and other charges that were never done nor necessary. They charged for material and labor cost that was way above industry norms. Again, without prior authorization from insurance company or homeowner.3) Harassing phone calls to provide payment for $6,643.37 initially invoiced 12/17/21. This went on despite my insurance agent and Restoration 1 manager negotiating final cost estimate.4) Owner threatens to place lien on house.
