Like others, I, too, received a check in the mail from Milend. I kept the check for almost a month before calling them. I spoke to someone today, and he asked me questions about my SS#, DOB, monthly income, etc. He did mention a soft pull on my report with Transunion and he would call back in a few hours. NO CALL BACK CAME. NO code, NO NOTHING.I tried to contact him at the number he called from ************** (he told me to remember the number because other people might be calling me for the same thing) and only got his voicemail. I am beginning to think this is what people are complaining about... bait & switch. My personal information is important to me and now I feel that I was very stupid for calling in the first place.I'd like the hard hit taken off my credit report and my information erased from your company files.Thank you!Business response

I received a mailer regarding Pre-approved for an installment loan with ********************* included. I returned from out of town after the expiration of the approval & called to see if offer was still validI spoke with customer service who took my information & stated someone from their department will call me back. I received a call from *************** Officer the next day & discuss if can reinstate offer for loan. She stated Im approved for that amount but if needing more can submit me to see if I qualify.Unaware they was going to run my credit again with All 3 Bureaus-Tri-Merged Report which lowered my score I received several notification of my report being pulled a couple times by this company. I never heard back from ***** or anyone informing me if I was Approved, not approved or anything. After several days going by I reached out to ***** to inform of my dissatisfaction with their process & how unprofessional it was not to hear back. She mentioned family emergency & can call later that day or next.A week later & still havent heard from anyoneI explained to ***** I have credit cards to cover what I was wanting to do but impressed with their rate so considered going with them since it was a fixed rate/installment loanSo disappointing!!!Business response

The agent the client was referencing was supposed to call back the next day, but she had a family emergency come up. On her way out of the office she forgot to update management that this client didn't receive a follow up call. The agent and client have been in communication since then and it appears everyone is on the same page per the email we received from the client yesterday. To our understanding this issue has been resolved.

I received a live check from Milend, ***** with an expiration date of April 21, 2023. This check was for $1,000.00 with a low-interest rate of 9%. I did not need the funds, but I decided to pursue it for my son who needed cash for a security deposit on his apartment. The terms of obtaining the 12-month loan were to endorse the back and call the company for an approval code. I thought this was unusual, but it did make sense because of the low interest rate. Several other loan checks of up to $6,000 are in my shredder because of the high interest rates. One lender i used several years ago used to call me to offer a new loan and after saying so several times, they started sendng loan checks, which required no preapproval code. On the day the check expired, I called Milend and spoke to a young man. He obtained my DOB and SSN and informed me it would be a soft pull on my credit. He said ***** would call me back. ***** never called, but my home phone was blowing up with Mortgage lenders. I had to unplug my phone as a result. I could not understand why ***** never called, so on Monday or Tuesday the following week I called and got his voicemail. He has yet to return my call. The check is now expired, so I shred it. However, now I have a hard pull on my credit report and my score has also dropped. This morning another lender called and said "We wanted to assist you with your cash-out refinance." When I told them I was not trying to refinance my home, they said, oh, you have a hard pull on your credit report and you should contact the bureaus to see if it is fraud. I decided to ****** Milend and up comes all these other complaints similar to mine. That was a bait and switch but I won't ever really know sinch Davidnerver called back. I think that Milend has horrible business practices and need to be cited for this.Business response

I am rejecting this response because: each time I called I got a voicemail, I left a message and no one returned my call. I am still only getting calls from random mortgage
companies believing I had a mortgage company pull my credit for a cash-out loan. This is so untrue. Also, I have not received any voicemail from Milend. Please simply remove this hard inquiry from my credit report. I have shredded your expired check and wish no longer to deal with you. Once that's done, I will respond to BBB. The complaints about Milend on here are true. You receive a simple live check in mail with decent interest rate and terms but need to call to get a code to cash check. At first the person is friendly but if you question anything the person gets rude and huffy. I assumed was a soft pull they tell you to verify you are still credit worthy as when they sent you the check within the month and then they tell you they will call you back and they never do so you don't get a code to cash the check instead next day you get several calls from mortgage lenders saying they have info I has requested to refinance my mortgage loan or was I looking to take out a home equity line. I have to tell multiple folks I never requested a home loan and I had been scammed. They all seemed surprised. This is a company that falsely lures you into thinking they are a good business but they actually are predators and misrepresent and lie about their intentions. I'm sure they will be sued or in a lawsuit to be put out of business soon.Business response

Management reached out to the client directly to address the concerns noted. He explained that we have no mortgage application on file for her, but only a consumer loan pull as she gave consent to pull credit. He also explained that because we do consumer loans, but we are also a mortgage company that other lenders purchase trigger leads and that's why she was being called. He also explained that since she did give permission for ** to pull credit by providing her information then it's impossibly for ** to get the credit pull reversed with Transunion as it was a single bureau, consumer loan pull.

Management did call out of the concern for their company and this information. However, it doesn't change the original facts. The facts are that they are very deceiving and misleading, their intent is not given or listed in the info sent in the mail, not even in small print. I am not changing my complaint as it is the truth and that doesn't change. Still no return call about the loan sent in the mail that I originally called about, but still getting calls that I am seeking a mortgage. I received no calls, not one from anyone about a personal loan. Also nothing on the live check says they are also a mortgage lender. Summed up folks stay away from calling for the code for the live check, they are scammers . Also they tell you when they call that they cant change the fact that they did a hard pull and not a soft pull. Maybe good customer service on *********************** I don't know that part only the live check/personal loan part but if they are this deceitful on a small loan I'm sure I wouldn't want to deal with them on a mortgage. ( By the way, I refinanced when rates were low and have a 2.7% rate currently with my lender. Why would I want multiple calls a day from mortgage lenders saying I'm applying for a mortgage and they can help)Business response

I am rejecting this response because: All info from Milend is deceiving. Also no one out of the multiple calls a day received mentioned anything other than a mortgage loan. Milend deceives one when someone calls for the live check code leaving one to believe it's a soft pull for an already approved loan of a small amount. They don't have any intentions of giving you a code for that amount of the live check. Also they don't call you back and very rude.

Greetings On 3/102023 I received a live check in the mail with instructions to cash the check. I called and talked to ***************************. I never at anytime gave her permission to pull a hard mortgage credit check. I was under the assumption that it was in fact a soft credit check to look at my credit. Since that call my phone has been blown up with other mortgage companies calling. In addition to my credit score dropping because of the hard credit check. this to me is a complete scam. She asked me information to verify it was me. I understand that. It was my birthday etc. But never once did she say Do I have you permission to pull a hard credit check. I assumed it was a prequel and would not affect my credit . I want that hard pull removed from my credit. I honestly believe this is a bait and switch to get you to apply for their product. When I called the company directly they basically told me it was my fault and I should have know they were going to pull a hard credit check because I gave them my date of birth. No they never once told me it was going to be a hard check. We assumed it was a soft pull. It was a full out factual data mortgage credit check and needs to be removed from ************Business response

On 3/7/23 I called Milend **** bc I was sent a live check in the mail and the first step was to call & receive the approval code before depositing into my bank. I did and I spoke with ******* who said he wanted to verify my information. (This is typical since I have cashed live checks before) During the process he wanted to try and upsell a higher loan and I was not interested. After we verified all of my basic information, ******* said he was getting with the "approver" to get my code. He said it would take 10 to 15 minutes. I then received a call back and was told that I was denied. I was very confused and wanted a better explanation and was told I was denied due to my debt to income. I asked how they figured that and was told they ran my credit. I did not give authorization to run a hard hit, yet that's what happened. I did not authorize a credit check because I was already approved, again this is a live check. I was told that regardless of my great payment history "they don't know me" and can't loan to me. I was then told that I must have a payment problem since I needed their loan! Excuse me, is what I said to *******, at this point I told him that I was reporting the company for false advertising and for bait and switch. ******* then asked me what he could do for me to not leave a negative review and I told him nothing because we are not doing business together. Please do not not use this company. It's very apparent bait and switch. They send out an actual live check with a great finance charge to get your personal information to then turn around and deny you because you will not take more than what is on the check. This type of predatory lending should not be allowed. There is absolutely nothing this company can do to rectify this situation. They do not need to continue calling me or pretending to act as if they are "resolving" the problem. They denied me after sending an actual live loan check. Management reached out to the client to address the concerns. We also pulled the records to make sure the client gave permission to pull credit and she did. Clients are pre screened for the checks based on the fact that their credit score is in a certain range. When they call in we need have to verify a few things to make sure the credit score is still in the acceptable range and the debt to income ratios are in line. These are unsecured loans and we have to verify the risk level is within tolerance. We've cashed millions of dollars on these "live check', personal loans over the course of the past few years, but sometimes clients do not qualify. We can however make exceptions from time to time with a manager override. If the client is willing to call back we would be happy to have a conversation.

I am rejecting this response because: Management DID NOT reach out to resolve any concerns. And I DID NOT authorize a hard credit pull. The live check was supposedly pre-approved but then denied. I have never been denied a live check from any other loan company. Please remove the credit inquiry from my credit report **** as we discussed previously. I do not want a manager override...I do not want to do business with this company..and highly discourage others from dealing with your company as well. You had zero intentions of honoring the live check, only using it as bait, to upsell other products you offer. Many other reviewers have had the exact same experience. Again, please remove the credit inquiry to resolve this dispute.

If the client will call us back then we can walk her through the next ************* on getting the inquiry removed. She will have to send us a letter with specific verbiage so we can request on her behalf. If there is a time she's available to speak this week then we can have someone call her to explain.

I was sent a "pre-approved" loan offer, I was just required to call and get the approval number that would allow me to process the loan. I called and spoke with a gentleman at company. He said just needed to verify my information and needed my DOB and SSN to process it to confirm If I qualified. I asked why does it say I did and is this gookg to be a soft pull. He said you need a certain score for the loan and it will not affect your credit. It's a soft pull. That was not a true statement and it was a hard pull. He calls back and states my score is 2 points shy of qualifying. I had not pulled my score years but have not had any issues wirh obtaining any credit card or loan recently. The check loan is a scam to bait you to running your credit and the soft pull is a lie. Now my credit has been adversely affected. This is not what was stated on the phone. If I was given an explanation and correct information. I would have NOT continued. Now my score has dropped even more because of the hard inquiry. They wrote one thing on the check ans stated its a live check and a loan but are misleading on what is the real process and that the Check is really not a real one or authorized check.Business response

Company sente a check in the mail. I called and talk to *****. He said he would call me the next day to give me code for check. Said he was seeing if he could get me more. ***** called me the next day harassing me to get my house refinanced. If the client would be ok with taking our call we would like to follow up and resolve. We do personal loans and refinance loans. I can review his information for the personal loan and see if I can make the exception to override and give him the approval code if he didn't initially qualify for it. ***** is a loan officer, but also works in the consumer loans department as well. We do both consumer loans and mortgage loans. If there is a best phone and time of day I would be happy to personally follow up.

I received a live loan check from Milend *** on 12/16/22 for a loan. The check was on the bottom of the page. At the top of the page was my annual percentage rate ***** % finance charge was ***** amount financed - ***** AND THE ***** PAYMENTS WERE listed as 10*****. Well just like any other check that I get from a loan company if the money is needed, I deposited the check for Christmas gifts. I used this money all but ******. On December 23,2022 I get a call from the back stating that the amount of the check had been removed from my savings and checking causing me an overdraft. I even spoke with a man from that loan company two days after I had deposited the check. It should be against the law for companies like ILEND to send checks out to consumers during the holidays then not honoring the check. I consider this as a fraud act. I think once they realized that I only had to pay a finance charge of $***** they put a stop payment on the check. They are a rip off!!! Causing me overdraft fees.Business response

The letter attached to the check that the client is referencing tells the clients to call in to get their pre approval code as step 1 and then deposit the check as step 2. This client skipped step1 and deposited the check with her bank. The bank requires an approval code from us or the client by 2pm or the funds are withdrawn. The client left her number on the back of the check and we called her to let her know we need to run her credit to make sure she still qualifies before giving the approval code. The client wasn't approved for the check. The MiLend consultant called her back multiple times to explain why the check wasn't approved. The client never responded. The consultant also sent her an email explaining why the check was denied. Management checked the call logs to confirm the calls were made and the consultant actually called her 5 times to follow up. After receiving this complaint, one of our Sr ******** called her to speak about this directly. We left a voicemail for her yesterday, but she never responded. In summary, the client didn't follow the instructions on the letter and since she no longer qualified the funds were withdrawn. We tried to reach her multiple times to explain everything, but she didn't take our calls.

*********************** I did talk to one of their representatives before ever cashing the check. The check was cash almost a week before it was returned. Dont send a check if you dont no if an individual qualifies. Step two is just to obtain a persons ssn . You never had my number before you sent the check. So how did you send one? I had never heard of your company. I think you made a mistake on the amount of interest that you could charge then recanted on the loan check. As far as my phone if you are not in my contacts your call will be rejected and not go through. Call att for information!! Return my money that you charged me for the return of the check or no we dont have anything else to talk about. I will warn everyone I know about this ordeal that I have experienced with this company.Business response

Per the instructions on the check and letter the client has to call in for the approval code. We need to make sure the debt ratio and credit scores are in line to lend the unsecured funds. If the client wants to call back and speak to a manager we would be more than happy to explain why she wasn't approved. She deposited the check before getting the approval code per the instructions. Since she didn't have the approval code the funds didn't go through. We would be more than happy to discuss with her on the phone. Management called and left her a voicemail with a call back number, but she didn't respond. If she calls then we can explain why it was denied.
