I've been living at this apartment complex for over a year. Always pay rent on time and make 0 complaints. This management has in the lease agreement that 60 day notice is "require to move out" and if 60 days isn't met by the time the lease ends, it'll be extended at the "month to month" rate. My problem is I was awaiting military orders, and was letting the office know that 60 days out is not enough time to figure out when/if the orders would be available. I told this to the lady that called asking for a decision, and let her know I could come down, sign the lease that day and break it 2 months later with military orders possibly, or they could give me a little more time to find out whether or not I'm going to be on orders or can sign the lease and stay another year. They told me they'd reach back out once they speak to management, which never did (not even sure if they brought this issue to management). Now they're sending notices of payment, stating I owe 1742 (charges are being based on renovations that never happened) by March first (my normal rent is 1400) and also that they're not doing the final inspection until we move out completely and our deposit (500) is subject to being kept. The sole issue I have is them making it seem like they would give me some leniency on the 60 day move out due to my situation with my job, and then acting as if they had no idea what I'm talking about (the calls are recorded from the front office). All I wanted was to be able to leave by the time my lease ends, and not be subjected to pay them for the time I waited for them to give me an answer from their management. On ** January, I notified that we would indeed be leaving, to which they stated we would owe past * March for failing to notify them 60 days from the lease ending. I explained that I spoke to someone from the office, to which they replied they didn't know what I was talking about and hadn't heard of this issue (when they reached out to me first!)
