I rented from this company in November of 2023. This was my first time renting. We started to have plumbing issues that left us with no working toilet and kitchen sink for months. We couldn’t use the toilet or sink which means we couldn't cook or clean our dishes. We put in multiple work orders and no came to fix the issue completely. The property management company claimed someone was going to fix the plumbing but that didn’t happen. We also had an open sewage pipe exposed along with the septic tank. The needed to replace the septic tank and pipes but never did. Also when did send someone out they wouldn’t pay them. I as the tenant shouldn’t have to worry about if they paid the maintenance people. They never offered to reimburse me any money for the months of paying rent with no toilet or sink. I had to use the bathroom in gas stations and family members homes even though I paid rent on time. They have never offered to pay for a hotel for me to go. They would never respond to any of my calls, text, or emails. Not to mention that the “duplex” wasn’t even up to housing code. I had to get code enforcement involved and they still didn’t fix the plumbing which caused a unlivable situation. NEVER RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!! I had to threaten to sue them to get out of my lease. They wanted me to pay fees and after months of not responding to any form of communication. I refused to give them anymore of my money undeservedly.

    Business Response

    Date: 03/14/2024

This matter has come to our attention and all matters are important to us.  However, the complaint states a timeframe in November 2023.  Dwell Property Management did not takeover management until January 1, 2024 and the property was vacant at the time of takeover.  We became aware of the situation and immediately contacted the former resident and previous property management company.  We were notified that the owners of the property handled all maintenance on the property.  The previous property management company did pay to have the septic system cleared and the owners of the property did install a new septic system. After coordinating with the previous resident, we agreed to contact BBB for next steps to close out this complaint.  The resident's main concern was ensuring they did not have an outstanding balance that would prevent them from leasing elsewhere.  We confirmed this was not an issue.
