      I have been living here for one year. When my lease expired, I was unaware due to I am accustomed to receiving correspondence in the mail and not email. When I was made aware, it was by a an aggressive email. Upon renewing my lease, the rent was increased by $50.00. When I questioned it, it took several weeks before I got a response. The response indicated that I was being assessed with cable, trash, pest control, lights, water and building fees. This made me take a harder look at my past rent payments. I was charged a different rental payment every month. So they provided a history breakdown, I learned I was assessed late fees at $100.00 and also credits card fees. I never paid my rent late. I am currently being charged $1,500.00 a month for a one bedroom one bath apartment. And we don’t have access to the amenities.

      Horrible management company. Practicing illegally in many states. Threatens tenants when questioned and called out on their behavior. Reported to the state and HUD for discrimination. Be sure to record all interactions with this company. Seek legal counsel if they threaten to sue you for using your first amendment right to discuss rentals amounts with other tenants.

      It is extremely difficult as a senior citizen and a three time cancer survivor to live at Brighton Park Apartments when you are confronted by a rude and unprofessional office staff, who lies and says that she will do something and then fails to follow-up after you have waited for weeks for specific information in an effort to seek clear explanations of charges before paying the rent. Then, when calling the office, and leaving numerous messages for assistance and explanation of exorbitant charges - only to get verbally attacked with snide and insulting remarks and innuendos during an office visit to get someone to give you the information that you have been seeking for weeks to no avail - and later - when the office realizes that you will take action via calls and letters of complaint to the Pegasus office and other housing/consumer organizations - out of the blue, you receive a written e-mail from the manager that you have been seeking to meet with - who then tries to offer a semblance of information sought after. BUT, prior to her writing, the other staff has said she was not available each time you have asked: "in the bathroom - not available - not in - off today...." The charges are extreme! When you are charged a utility - electric penalty fee of $50.00 in addition to your bill which is approximately $26.00, and in addition to your rent - what is the legal, justifiable reason for this exorbitant charge? What must be considered here is that the fee is not charged by the Electric company! There are other non sensical and erroneous charges by this corporation which I oppose for all residents at this complex. My complaint is simple: I am a new resident at Brighton Park Apts Byron. I have suffered through critical medical health issues and a global pandemic for years, and I will not suffer through hateful and cruel unprofessional attacks of individuals who have no business working in the public sector, and who is not equipped to offer explanations professionally!
