In the month of February I reached out to the sales team at Scott Evans. I was told that they had the perfect work truck for me, zero money down. I asked for pictures during the day while at work, they were never sent. After that work day I decided to go in and check out the truck myself. It was lifted with an exhaust kit. Didnt exactly meet my needs, I asked for more options. Sales manager insisted that this 2014 ram was the ONLY option for me. I regretfully purchased it but they had given me a great aftermarket warranty should I have any problems (which later I found out is owned by Scott Evans brother). After 1 week of owning the vehicle, the passenger upper control arm was broken along with the ball joint. No biggy, things happen but I was glad to have had a warranty so I took it in. It took them over a week to make that simple repair. The misalignment was never corrected after the repair resulting in me going through 2 sets of used tires with all tires having been worn to the wire on the outside perimeter. A month after this repair, my water pump goes out. That took almost a month to repair. Another claim on my warranty, another deductible. More money spent on rentals. Not even a month later after the second repair, my power steering goes out. This is where I find out how great my warranty is, the one thing they dont cover! The dealership told me it would cost an upwards of $6,000 for parts and labor. The best part was when the incompetent tech *****, said that my part would be on intergalactic back order as a joke. Nothing about this was funny. I had been trying to figure a solution since my water pump failure with Scott Evans, foursight capital, and autoexcell warranty company. Nothing. I had no option but to give the truck back to foursight, in which they picked it up from the dealership. I was told by everyone from a tech to the sales manager that I was sold a lemon. I have the recordings. What will it take to shut down Scott Evans?Business Response

This is a repeat complaint that has already been responded to and closed once before. Mr. ****** bought a used vehicle in February of 2024 that was over 10 years old and had well over 100K miles. The vehicle was sold as an as is sale and was never represented as having a dealer warranty. Mr ****** hasn't owned the vehicle since June of 2024. We can provide whatever documentation is needed.
Thank you

I am rejecting this response because: the vehicle had just over 100k miles, not well over. I stayed in communication with the dealership as these issues were happening to the vehicle. There was a warranty provided which was not honored on the final repair. After this initial complaint was made, an employee of Scott Evans looked me up on ********. The employee found where my current employer is and reached out to my manager to take the complaint down. Im not sure what closed means but they never settled with me. This is a common problem with this dealership. Poor leadership with high turnover not with just sales or service but upper management. Ive talked to 2 different General managers and 2 sales managers in the time that Ive dealt with this issue. Yet no resolve.
Sincerely,

While I understand the customers frustration, the fact remains that this was an as-is sale on a ten year old, 114K mile truck. We can provide whatever documentation is needed to that effect.

I am rejecting this response because: sold with aftermarket warranty in which the Scott Evans brother owns. I know I wont get a refund. I just want my message heard because I am one of many dissatisfied customers. We had conversations from the beginning. They werent willing to make things right whatsoever. The car was in my possession for less than 60 days of the total 120 days I had it. They scam customers like me and the finance companies who pay out for the used vehicles. Its criminal.

I purchased a vehicle from Scott Evans around the end of September '24. When I purchased the vehicle, I was never asked if I wanted an extended warranty or any other services. However, I found that the finance person working with me snuck it in to my contract without telling me. The person I was with attests to this. The extra charges were more than $5,000. I would DEFINITELY have remembered if a company asked me for $5,000 more. When I called to inquire about this, the individual claimed he told me about the additional money. I have to wait 60 days for this to come off the total of my loan. The payment is minimal but this is a shady way to do business. I also was told I would be getting a second set of keys. I was never sent the keys and when I called back, the sales manager told me that the policy was "if" there are a second set of keys, I would get them sent. My original salesperson did not say "if" and it is expensive to get a second key. I'm just looking to get what I paid for.Business Response

Mr ******,
I've pulled your paperwork to go over it and the Service Contract is clearly disclosed on the finance contract and also on the Service Contract itself, both of which you signed in multiple places. I apologize for the confusion but don't see what we could have done differently. The products have been cancelled at this point and the proceeds sent to the lender. We have no problem with providing you a second key, the only issue would be that if it has to be programmed by a ***** dealer we we wouldn't be able to complete that part of the transaction for you. Please let us know how you'd like to proceed.
Thank You,

In August of 2024 I purchased a new truck from Scott Evans. At the time of signing the paperwork I was tricked into signing for products that I specifically told the agent that I did not want. When I realized what had happened I phoned the dealership and discussed it with the agents. Decided to think about it. On September 13, 2024 I sent an email asking that these products be cancelled and my money refunded. I received a call from the finance agent at Scott Evans assuring me that he would issue me a check but it might take about 6 weeks to receive my money. It is now November 9, ********************************************** any communication from Scott Evans. I called and attempted to find an answer but was told they were in a meeting. I really hate that I have to report to the BBB to get this business to do the right thing.Business Response

We recently bought a new vehicle from Scott Evans dodge jeep the dealership did not stand by there word when it came to financing and the Dow payment to receive the vehicle the financing manager did not stand behind his word by a long shot they ran our credit so much that the t was impossible for us to go to any other company to purchase a vehicle the people in the area needs to know how crooked this dealership and the people who work here are I would literally just like an apology from the owner on the company they threaten you legally in order to get you money to close the deal which is just crummy way to get people to except there offer and financing to purchase the vehicleBusiness Response

Mr. ******* purchased a new vehicle on 9/21/24. He financed the vehicle with a down payment of $1000. He subsequently stopped payment on his check and he's correct in that we called him to collect the down payment. We didn't charge him any of the fees we incurred due to his action and simply collected the $1000 that he was contractually obligated to pay. I fail to see how we are at fault in any way regarding this situation.

I bought a car from Scott Evans Dodge Store April 2022. My credit score wasnt the highest because I had nothing in my name besides a place to live. After running my credit several times I was approved. They placed me in a 2018 Dodge Caravan. I signed a contract for a 2018 Dodge Caravan, but the ***************** told me that my vehicle was fully loaded. So they got the bank to approve a loan for a fully loaded vehicle so they could receive the highest payment from the bank, but overcharged me in the process. They are doing things illegally and scamming customers. I didnt get a chance to look at the van because it was in the shop. When they finally had it ready I noticed that the hood of the van was spray painted, which I asked them to fix and didnt. Within the first two weeks of having the van the transmission went out and the a/c. I told them the van shakes at 70, but they insisted nothing was wrong. Come to find out the axel was messed up. The air went out again; If they fixed it the first time. This is by far the worst thing ever. They get vulnerable people and get them in lemons, over charge them, and have the bank approve a loan for a car that doesnt match the real value. I guess they did me like this because my brother was the manager there. My brother sold me a lemon and overcharged me in the process, but Scott Evans approved this. Wow! This place needs a full investigation of all sells since the business opened!Business Response

I apologize that you are having issues with your vehicle. I am not much aware of the dispute you and your brother are having? But the dealership can't control any of those issues. We can try to do our best to help you if you are having issues with the vehicle though. We would be happy to take a look at any concerns and give you a quote for any repairs needed, or call your extended warranty company if it would be covered repairs. We sold the vehicle 2 years ago, and have not been informed of any issues since that time. Any questions please reach out to our service manager, ********************* @ #************

I am rejecting this response because:
I was over charged for the vehicle. This has nothing to do with my brother, but he was the manager and I complained several times and you all dropped the ball. You over priced the vehicle Im paying for and thats not fair. What you can do is charge me the correct price. You over charged me and the bank. I could care less about repairs. Im going to seek legal advice!

Unfortunately, we would not be able to negotiate on a vehicle purchased two years ago, and driven a bunch of miles. *** years ago, you would have had all the opportunity to check pricing, have the vehicle inspected, and done your homework on a purchase. We can't go back to that point, and now negotiate. This transaction was done 2 years ago, and we have no obligation to negotiate price. However, if you would like to bring the vehicle in, we would be more than happy to appraise the vehicle, and give you an above average trade value to help you out in your situation. That is all I would be able to offer. Let me know if there is anything else we can do for you?

I am rejecting this response because: I dont know much about cars. *** had the van in the shop for months when I first got it and months with another dealer. *** reached out to the manager several times and they didnt treat me like a Valued customer. Its not fair that you ripped me off with the price and overcharged me to get full price from the bank. No way my car payment should be $600. Why would I want to trade the car in just to get another lemon? How can I trust anything from the dealership? Like I said before scamming is illegal and you cant get away with getting over on people. ********************* should be in touch soon! Thank you!

In May of 2024 - I had my vehicle's oil changed at ******* miles by Scott Evans Dodge in **********, ** and now at ******* my engine has been deemed blown by Paulding Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. I have called Chrysler Headquarters and was told that nothing could be done. I have maintained my vehicle extremely well. A motor does not just crash and stop working. I believe Scott Evans should be responsible due to the findings by Paulding Chrysler stating there is metal in my engine and that the engine needs replacing.Business Response
Date: 07/11/2024
We are very sorry for your vehicle having issues. Unfortunately we would not be responsible for an engine failing after just doing an oil change. That would not cause an engine to fail. We were informed the vehicle still has fresh oil in it, and no leaks present. If the vehicle still is full of oil, that would ensure we did what was needed to be done during your routine service here. However, if there was no oil, or there was an issue with it would have happened immediately, not ***** miles later. Sometimes over time, when mileage gets higher, Cam and lifters do fail, and can cause damage and you would need them fixed or replaced. We would be more than happy to inspect the vehicle for you to give you a second opinion on what is needed to repair your vehicle. However, we would not be responsible for a motor failing with no probable cause. If it is just a lifter issue, recommended replacement would be cam and lifters, not an entire motor replacement. Please reach out to ****** our service manager, and he will be happy to speak with you.

This is ***************************, General Manager for Scott Evans CDJR. I was notified about your situation, and spoke with you regarding this. We will do what is in our power to help rectify the situation. However, ********************** was unaware this vehicle was having issues. The vehicle was last repaired at ***** not our store. You would need to contact them in regards to the service issue. You do have extended warranty, so you are able to bring it back to them to look at the issue at hand. You are also able to bring it here, and we will also try to diagnose the issue. However, it is a 2015 ***** and seems as though it may have an electrical issue possibly so **** would probably have the upper hand if there is any technical bulletins. We can try to trade you out of the vehicle, but you would have to get with the sales department, and from what they advised me is that you would need substantial money down. I will still see what I can do on my part to help, but we would need some assistance from you as well. First thing I would recommend is bringing the vehicle back to **** to diagnose the issue. Keep me up to date. Thank-you!!

We do understand you are having issues with you vehicle. There isn't much we can do on trading you out of the vehicle, unless you have a decent amount of money down. As far as repairs go, like I said before, we will be glad to try and look at the vehicle and diagnose the issue, however, we were not the last location to work on the vehicle. **** was, and they should have the vehicle back to rectify the issue. They got paid to fix the vehicle, and did not fix it properly so it seems.... and it is a **** vehicle. You are asking me to fix another dealers repairs that just worked on it, and they should have first attempt, especially since they have certified **** technicians. If you need me to help you get the vehicle from your house to them, I will do what I can to get that taken care of. If you would like me to do that, please reach out to ***************************, our service manager, and he will arrange to have it picked up and brought to **** to have them relook at it. I took my jeep to Scott Evans because it was running hot on the highway, but fine in town. They kept it for the day and could not find anything wrong and said pick it up tomorrow morning I called and they said it would be $1200 to take the engine apart to see what it may be because they could not see what it was I am mediately said do not work on it we will pick it up 15 minutes later we picked it up and the car was running. Very very bad I could not get out of the parking lot. I went back and explain to them that they made my car worse and what did they do? The young man was very rude because he could not understand why I was upset. My car was tampered with it did not run the way I left it and it should have because they did not work on it , when I spoke to the ** he asked how many miles do I have and maybe I should buy a new Jeep I was not interested in a new jeep. I want it my old jeep to run correctly. I would like my refund back and I would like people to never go back there again. They are very rude, unprofessional and need a need not be a dealership their family owned and they dont care about the people around them. Its all about themselves if were going to have a dealership in our town, it should be someone that care about the people that come in there and want their help , if you need to go to a dealership please run do not go to Scott Evans. They are not what they say. They are. The general manager never returned my call after he told me that he would look into it and call me back in 15 minutes as of today I have never heard back from him even after I left him a voice message .Business Response

This is the General Manager, ***************************. I have not spoken to this customer, nor had any contact or messages regarding any issues. My Sales Manager, ******************* and Service Manager *************************** both spoke with the customer when she was here. She brought the vehicle in due to an overheating issue. We addressed the complaint, and found that the vehicle had been run hot for too long, and there is damage to the motor internally, and advised the customer that it will need a motor, or at least tear down to find out what exactly failed. Customer declined repairs as stated on the ** that is attached by the customer in PDF on the complaint she filed. We will be more than happy to diagnose the vehicle if the customer would like to pay for diagnosis/tear down of the motor and we will give a more than fair quote for the repairs to help out all we can. No diagnosis will be charged, nor for tear down if the customer repairs the vehicle with our dealership. As well as I will discount the ticket to the best of my ability due to the unfortunate circumstances of the vehicle overheating. The damage was not caused by the dealership, it had already been run too hot, and the damage was apparent the moment the vehicle arrived. Any questions, please feel free to reach out directly.
