I bought a 2012 **** Focus from ********* on 2/16/2024 for $4200 cash. 2 days later the check engine light came on. I contacted ***** right away to let him know the light came on and something is was wrong with the car. He said okay and to bring it by his shop and he would take a look. He has one of those computers that you can plug into your car and it will tell you everything that is wrong with your car. He plugged it into my car and told me the the catalytic converter is bad and needs to be replaced. He said he can replace and fix it for $200. Of course I didnt have the money to fix it because I just spent $4200 on the car a couple of days before. We live in a city that doesnt require emissions test so I was okay with waiting until I have the money to get it fixed plus it didnt affect my car being able to drive. It was still driving fine so I will wait to get it done. He used the computer he plugged into my car the remove the check engine light from my dashboard. (I didnt know you could but he did. I thought it would need to be fixed before the light goes off but apparently not) On 3/8/24 I texted him again because my car started jerking as it was changing gears. The car was jerking so bad that it was close to not being drivable at all. I went to his shop he plugged the computer in again and it said the problem was the transmission. At first he quoted me $500 to fix it then $1000 then $700. He did something to temporarily fix it but it didnt last and my car is still basically un-driveable. He wont fix it unless I pay him $700 but I dont feel like I should have to pay because he knew the car had all these problems and used his computer to clear the codes/lights from the dashboard. Had I known the car had so many mechanical issues I would not have given him $4200 cash. I would not have purchased the car at all. He didnt disclose any of the problems that the car has at the time I purchased it. I know multiple people that he has done this to.

All cars are sold as is.  All customers sign the paperwork stating it is as is with no warranty.  All car are used.  There is no way to tell what is going to fail, but various cars are prone to certain issues.  I offered to fix the catalytic convertor and would provide the part for the agreed price.  The transmission issue is a common issue on this particular car and we talked about.  I did the temporary fix several times at no cost.  I sold my sister the same type of car and I also drive the same car.  It not a secret the type of issue these cars have.  I don't control how someone drives or how they drive, all man made things are going to break at some point, some sooner than later.  I will help any way I can with my cars because I want ultimately to have satisfied customers.  I'm also aware some people just can't please
