My husband and I went ******* October *** 2022, for lunch. We have been going there every weekend for years. The waitress who waited on us at lunch practically threw the food at us. My husband and I were like "what's her problem". Anyway, she came and brought the ticket to my husband and said something about a fee they are charging, but she has no control over it. I was like what did she say? He said he didn't understand. I took the ticket to the cashier and asked her what the "service fee" was as the amount was close to $4.00. She looked at it puzzled and said she wasn't sure. She went and found the manager (I guess) and he told me it's because the waiters and waitresses said we don't tip. What? I told him yes, we do tip when we get good service, but don't when we don't, like today. I was so mad, I didn't keep my copy of the receipt. This IS SO WRONG! You shouldn't be forced to give a tip and it is based on the service that is provided. I understand if there is a big party, but it was just my husband and I there. This was the same waitress who had waited on me 2 weeks prior and charged me $4.00 for soup for my grandchild which I didn't know we would be charged as they never had before. I questioned that and said I wasn't told we would be charged, so that's her tip then. I am highly disappointed as this is my favorite restaurant. I told them we wouldn't be back and he said ok, like he didn't care. I have always recommended Chef Lee's to people, but I won't now. I should have marked out the service fee and refused to pay it, but I didn't.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/11/10) */ We value our customers. We found the ticket of Lunch Oct ** that the family came , sitting at the round table of 6 seats, 4 lunch items were ordered and we have a service charge of $3.6. We are sorry you did not have good dining experience and will happily refund you the $3.6 service charge. We are not aware that we charged service charge for 2 or 3 people. If we did, please let us know and we will refund. For the soup, our Lunch meal comes with soup only when customer orders the meal. For example, if 2 people come, and only 2 people order 2 meals, and they ask for 3 soups, then 2 soups comes with the 2 meals, we charge for the 1 soup that does not come with the meal. We have different sizes of soup. We are trying to let our servers to show the computer price in front of customers when they order so there is less confusion on the item and prices. We thank you for being a long time customer! Next time you come, we will let you try one of our new dish for free as appreciation to be a long time customer! Consumer Response /* (3000, 8, 2022/11/11) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) yes, refund, please. I should have been told I would be charged for the soup, but she didn't say anything about it. Also, it is up to me whether to tip or not. It is stealing by putting the service chg on me for not tipping. The mgr (guy) at the front desk should be told. thanks! Business Response /* (4000, 12, 2022/12/14) */ Your husband came in this noon with his friend. I talked to your husband and said sorry. I would like you to be happy so I gave him a $25 gift certificate to be presented to you so that you are happy. Your husband is happy and he said that it is over and it is time to come back use the gift certificate . I will see you next time. Consumer Response /* (2000, 14, 2022/12/15) */ (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
