My home warranty sent Air Design out to fix a problem that I had with my ac unit not cooling. The technician stated my unit needed cleaning which was the problem. My warranty doesn't pay for cleaning so I paid out of pocket. I noticed my unit still wasn't fixed. I contacted another company to come out and they pointed out that when the company cleaned my unit they applied to much pressure which caused all my coils to push in and stop the air circulation. I contacted Air Design about the problem and needed a technician to come back and fixe the problem. They wanted me to file another work order with my home warranty which I would then have to pay another service fee of $100.00 and any diagnostic fee. I told them I wasn't doing that. All needed for them to do is come correct the problem by unbending the coils. I should not have to pay an extra service fee and diagnostic fee for a mistake that Air Design made. The owner refuse to send a technician out unless I got a work order from my warranty company. Which my warranty doesn't cover is why I had to pay out of pocket for the cleaning in the first place. I just need Air Design to come correct their mistake or further action will be takenInitial Complaint

I paid for service that was not performed when they installed my furnace last November. My flute pipe to the furnace was not installed correctly according to current Code and the float switch was never installed at all but I was charged for it. And they did not include a new air filter with the new furnace. My furnace has not had a air filter since it was installed. I contacted the Company early June to let them know about the situation. They sent someone out to my Home beginning of June but they did not complete any repairs. When they left, they turned off my condenser pump which caused water to back up in my basement. I didn't discover my basement was wet until they came back in early July t do repairs. They were not able to do the repairs in July due to water in basement. The appointment was rescheduled , however No one called, text, or left a voicemail last Friday, July 12, the day my follow up appointment that was scheduled between 1-5pm. I took time to be here at home but no one called to say anything! I asked for a Saturday appt but they said they don't the type repairs I needed on Saturdays. My appointment was rescheduled again for today 7/16/24 between 12-4pm; No one showed up until after 4:30PM.Initial Complaint

I requested service from First ******** on my Central Air Conditioning system . The service provider Air Design came out and diagnosed the issue as a replacement coil issue They charged me $1445 for the following. We wanted to provide you with an update on your pending claim. The contractor has completed their diagnosis. We are happy to inform you that part of your claim is indeed covered by your home warranty. To complete the required work, the contractor has also identified some items that are not covered under your home warranty contract. We have validated the contractors findings and confirmed that either your warranty does not cover or you have exhausted the available limit for: MODIFICATIONS $1320.00 CLEANING OUTDOOR UNIT $125.00 80% BLOCKED First American Home Warranty will pay the contractor for all covered items. For the items that are not covered, there will be out-of-pocket expenses due from you and paid directly to the contractor in order to proceed. The contractor has informed us that your out-of-pocket expenses come to $1445.00. 3 months later after coming back home from being away the system was still not working (Central air blowing cold) . When I called First American they said their claims are only guaranteed for 30 days and I would have to call the servicer. The servicer refused to come out to look at the issue because it was through First American. I'm now needing a new HVAC and not getting any help from first American for their servicer not diagnosing the issue correctly. nor the vendor who wants to charge me again for the service they got wrong the first time.Initial Complaint

I was having AC issues where my AC was not staying set to the temperature. So I went through my home warranty (************). They assigned AIR DESIGN A/C & HEATING from *******, ** to my house. Contractor came out initially (7/28), cleaned the outside unit upon my request, said I was good to go. A couple weeks go by and AC is having the same issue, contractor comes out again (8/8) and says I need to replace the condenser coil as it no longer works. HSA only covered the partial cost. I was left with a $1655.00 bill.Contractor comes out (8/14) and replaces condenser coil (+ everything additionally need to do so). AC works for a few hours, then is back to the same issue.Contractor comes out again (8/15) and blows out the condensate line. This is something that is very simple to do and should have been done well prior to replacing a condenser coil. This solves my cooling issue.Email contractor on 8/16 about a refund for unneeded condenser coil installation and contractor responds "It was replaced because it has a leak that was non-reapirable.". I am unaware of any leak test that was done.Replacing condenser coil seems to be an unneeded repair they often recommend based on other reviewsInitial Complaint

I am representing my elderly mother ***************************. My mother is a widow. I am the trustee of her business affairs. My mother purchased a brand new A/C Unit from ******* Heating and Air Condition in ******* **., ** #CN005699 (Tel ************) in May 2020. Since the purchase of the unit, there have been 10 service visits because the unit stop working for Air and Heat. Both components have failed numerous times. All the visits are related to various electrical failures. Each visit, my mother is charged for parts and a service fee. At this time, the unit should have been replaced because clearly there is a malfunction within the electrical system. The most recent visit was 4/26/23. Again the unit stopped working. They stated it was a burnt wire. They replaced the wire, charged my mother again and the unit stopped working the same night. Now, my 85 year old mother is AGAIN without heat. Because of all the visits ***** charged my mother for repairs that didn't resolve the problem or were a temporary band aid per se. As a result, my mother had a small balance of $219 on yesterday. The tech stated they were not going to return until the balance was paid. I think it is very malice to intentionally take advantage of an 85 year old lady by charging her bogus fees and then threaten her by stating if there is another issue they will not return to repair it. They didn't repair the immediate issue on yesterday! My mother should be offered a brand new replacement unit and a full refund for all the service visits and having to rearrange her schedule to accommodate. I tried to discuss and resolve the concern with Manager ***** on last year. But, nothing was accomplished and no follow up calls or anything. They just continued to make visits and wasting my mother's money. I have called 3 times today to speak with manager ****. He has been too busy to return my call. I am done. Before this unit ***** my mother home down, I am issuing this complaint for an immediate resolution to replace the unit and refund all the bogus fees that were charged to my mother. Again, she is sitting without heat!Business response

Provider arrived yesterday to replace a damaged but working part in my HVAC. They had been out over a month ago to diagnose and assess, and ordered the part. This service call had been scheduled nearly 3 weeks ago. Provider arrived, disconnected damaged but working part, then discovered wrong part had been added. **************** and told us he hoped someone could be back out today to repair but office would be in touch. No contact from office. Called 2x today and reached dispatcher, who informed me that new part would be installed 3 days from now. This means we have no AC until then. I asked for the old part to be returned and reinstalled until new part was received and could be installed; was told it had been "disposed of". When I looked, both my indoor and outdoor units are left wide open and torn apart. This is absolutely unacceptable. They have broken my system and left me in a bind.Initial Complaint

May 2022 i had called my homeowner insurance for an HVAC checkup. Air Design AC and Heating *************) was assigned. They did not come out to my house, reported to AHS that they completed the service, and today (8/11/22) I noticed my ceiling leaking. This was due to the pan overflowing, which would have been avoided if they had done their job in May. They are a fraud by telling AHS they completed the job. Now i have ceiling damage in kitchen which will need replacing. I believe the company should pay for the work that needs to be completed.Initial Complaint

I have Home Shield and I was having problems with my air conditioner unit so Air Design was sent to my house to make repairs. When the 2 gentlemen arrived, I quickly noticed 1 did not speak english at all and the other barley spoke english. I had to get the owner on the phone to explain the issue. They owner tells me I needed my coils clean and the cost would be an additional cost of $125 in which I declined. So long story short, my unit was still broken after they left so I called Home Shield and made a complaint. Home Shield said Air Design will be back out to fix the issue. Air Design calls me and said they will not come back out until I pay the $125 that was owed. I asked to speak with the owner and was told that he was unavailable and he would call me back. He never called me back so I called them back. I was told the owner stated he never spoke with me about the issue and was I ready to make a payment. I called Home Shield back in disbelief and they conducted their investigation. They ended up calling me apolojizing about the issue and sent me another contractor out to repair my unit. Now Air Design is sending me letters in the mail for payment and stated if I dont pay it will go on my credit report. Air Design picked the right one to try to rip off because I have nothing but time.Initial Complaint

6/10/22 - I submitted a work request online to AHS to have air conditioner looked at Was assigned to, Air Design.6/11/22 - Air Design made an appointment for 6/18/22 6/18/22 - The technician diagnosed the problem as being the compressor needed to be replaced. Part needed to be ordered and i need to make another appointment to have the part installed.6/22/22 - Air Design called to state that the part had not arrived.6/30/22 - 2nd appointment - no show/no call. I called Air Design but could not reach anyone 7/01/22 - Called Air Design again and was informed that the wrong part was ordered and they had to wait for a new one to come in. I asked why wasnt I informed and how was I going to be compensated for the error. The representative hung up. I called AHS and stated they were at fault and would reimburse me the service fee of $125 (as of 7/24/22 I have not received the service fee). They stated that I would have to call Air Design back and make another appointment. I informed them that I did not want to work with them because they had not called me to let me know they were not coming and they hung up on me. I was forced by AHS to work with this company to have the air fixed.A new appointment was scheduled for 7/12/22 7/4/22 - Air Design showed up to fix the air and left after about a couple of hours but did not check the air. The air still did not work. I called AHS, was told I needed to call Air Design. Ultimately, I called another company only to find out that it was a clogged drip pan and not the compressor. During all of this I had to purchase portable air cond. Air Design refused to come back until I paid them $950. They lied to get more $$ from me. Also, Air Design is charging me for 11 lbs of Freon @$85 per lb when my unit only holds 6lbs. I want the following: cease contacting me for payment for fraudulent services and a refund for the portable air conditioners that I purchased.Initial Complaint

On 6/16/22 American Home Shield (AHS) provided Air Design A/C and Heating to repair my air conditioner with a window of arrival from 4 to 6pm, Air Design did not show or even call to cancel. Again on 6/17/22 I was given the same window of arrival and again, no show or call. I was informed by AHS that it was after hours and I'd have to wait until Monday the following week to try and contact them. Unable to tolerate 100+ degree temperatures in my home I had to check into a hotel for three days. Finally on 6/29/22 a tech showed 2 hours after the scheduled window. The following day I discovered condensation pouring down my bedroom walls, soaking the carpets, padding and ran further down to the kitchen flowing through the light fixtures! Cause: uninstalled ***************** flow line; clogged lines that caused condensation to flow inside; and no caps were placed on all the refrigerant assemblies resulting in leaking refrigerant! In addition I was told that refrigerant was added and to wait a few hours to achieve maximum cooling which has yet to happen! The lowest cost I could find to repair the damage caused by that faulty service was for paint removal, plaster, sanding and repainting, carpet lift and water extraction from carpet is $1150.00. The alternate tech replaced customer supplied bulbs that blew from water running from the attic two floors down to the kitchen through the drop light fixture. My expeditious reaction to the discovery of running water down the walls and further down to the kitchen fixtures thwarted the need and cost for a Mitigation Team to ascertain the level of water damage. I have repeatedly reached out to the owner who has been totally non-responsive. My desired resolution is simply compensation for the repair to restore my home to normal.
