Since the ownership changed hands within an investment company that currently owns, **** Columbia Drive, *************************, on or around February 15 2020, I have been repeatedly harassed for the claim of non-payment of rent. I was current and continued to pay even with their harassment. In 2021, I walked into the office to pay our rent of $625 and was verbally told that we needed to pay an additional $55 for water. I let them know that we did not receive any notices of a water **** and it is not in our lease. At that time we was a "tenant-at-will" following the **************** laws concerning any changes to the lease, refer to anything changes to the lease to become effective 60 days after the notice. We didn't even get 1 hour notice, therefore, making Forest at Columbia Apartments (owners/management) not in compliance with the laws of the ****************. So we decided to pay because it was during covid, there were not readily available affordable housing at that time, and I have a special needs child and a senior citizen in the house, which doesn't make it easy to move. In ***** of *************************************************************** 2020, but our lease was in 2015, and we needed to pay an increase to our rent to $850 with only a *************************** compliance. That document also stated if we didn't sign a lease, we needed to give a 30 day notice to move out, which we did for a move out date of May 21, 2022 (30 days out from the delivery date to Forest of Columbia/Yellowstone ****************** Yet, today we got a letter again harassing us for rent of $680 (or rent is $625) or eviction will be filed on May 20 2022. They refuse to acknowledge that we paid a security deposit, and almost a year of water payment for water that is never on. They also refuse to respond Consumer Affairs, HUD, lawyers. The only ones they respond to is Code Enforcement, but nothing has been done about the built building (10 mos ago) no fence around it.
