My experience with Grayson vet was a nightmare. My dog, Latte, came in for a C Section on 11/7/23. I informed Grayson Vet Hospital multiple times that I did not want her spayed. They stated that in instances where the uterus is ruptured, they may not have a choice but to spay her. I informed them that I wanted them to notify me before any decisions were made about her care. After all, she is my dog. That is MY call to make unless her life was at risk in that very moment. To make a very long story short, when the vet took out her uterus and all of the blood that came with it, she became anemic. They did not tell me then when she was discharged and she ended up collapsing at home. After a blood transfusion at Grayson vet, and receiving a second opinion from a separate Vet Hospital, they also found a hole in Latte's incision and her incision was badly infected. Grayson vet saw her earlier that morning and did not tell me her incision was infected. After thousands of dollars, my best friend is now dead and my family is hand raising a litter of 6 orphaned puppies while grieving a huge family loss. All of this because this vet hospital took it upon themselves to perform a major surgery on my dog without my verbal or written consent. When I asked why they did it, they stated the uterus was not ruptured; it was thin, and bruised. I have had 3 healthy children and my uterus was thin and bruised after each pregnancy. So, I would imagine it is quite normal for a dog who carried a litter of 10 to have a bruised and thin uterus. If they had asked me what I wanted to do, I would have asked them about the risks and I likely would have elected to NOT have her spayed and to allow her to heal before I made a decision for her to have major surgery (spay) after undergoing a c-section and while she needed to nurse and care for her puppies.
