I hired Rodriguez painting to paint my bay tops and trim at my primary residence the 2nd week of April 2024. After that work was completed, the sales rep contacted and offered to paint the rest of my house the following week for $2600. That was over 6 weeks ago and they keep postponing the work. I have called several times to schedule a new date but they said no crews are available. I still do not have a committed day to complete the painting. This is not what I expected from a reputable company with great reviews

      Good morning,

We first and foremost want apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused during this process. We responded to another review which this customer had left and explained that unfortunately we do not service their area but our advertisers do. We have to advertise in all the areas they reach due to the way contracts are set up but it does not mean that we specifically service ever single area they reach. We do apologize but did provide this information.

They painted my neighbors home at our town home community and got paint on my rock. They sprayed yellow overspray all over my wife's car that was parked in our driveway with 20mph winds blowing. I got a quote for $550.00 to remove paint and was told they will only pay under $200.00 and they want to use a guy they have. I got the name of the company they want to use and I can't find any information about the business anywhere and do not trust them. I asked if I could get three more quotes and the general manager ****** said only if it's under $200.00 or they will not pay. I do not trust them to bring someone to remove paint off my car because I believe they will cut corners. I told him I want to pick the place and was basically told no . My rock has not had the paint removed still and I now will have to pay myself to have the overspray removed. I'm also going to fill out a statement of claim and go to small claims court to recover my money. Any help I could get from you all would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, ***********************.

We have contacted this individual the day this incident happened. We have apologized many of times and acknowledged our fault. This individual failed to mention that he got a $550 dollar quote from a BODY SHOP. Per definition of what a body shop is, "An auto body shop repairs damage to the exterior and non-moving parts. Restores vehicles after minor or major collisions; Repairs dents in the sheet metal..." He claimed that he knows the guy at the body shop. They will be removing the paint overspray by cleaning, and applying clay *** to the vehicle. Which is quite literally what a detailer will do for a fraction of the price. Simply because when you dedicate your time to doing that very thing, your prices will be lower. Our $200 offer was to have the detail company come to his house, do the same work he claims only a body shop can do, to ultimately give the same end result product on the car. As this individual stated on 6/6/2022, "I just want the car cleaned" however he has an issue with have someone whom "only cleans cars" fix this issue. Again, we accept responsibility for the overspray being on the car, however we do not want to be cheated when the solution is extremely simple. we even suggested for him to get quotes from other detailers, which he refused. He is treating this unfairly and unjustly.

They advertise low pricing to draw you in and the price doubles. They claim that they are going to put two coats of paint on the entire job, but they only use two coats where it is absolutely necessary. Then when we did the repair job that they did not/ would not finish and then asked them to come paint the deck and porch with multiple issues they said, "not our problem". The used our vacuum cleaner to halfway clean our floors while leaving the vacuum cleaner a mess for us to deal with. The blinds in the bathroom were lost, and when I found them, they came and installed them....they were broken. Another $200 down the drain. They have taken no responsibility for any of this and just tell us that "it's not their problem". They owe us a second coat of paint on the front porch and back deck. Please warn people to never use them. They are not honest and are impossible to reach. We made the mistake of paying them over $15,000 before they were finished. We will never make that mistake again. They owe us $200 for the blinds that were damaged beyond repair, as well as the 2nd coat on the porch and deck.

      To whom this may concern,

The claims made by **************** are unjust and inaccurate. The estimates that were given to the home owner were for interior and exterior of his home. With an extensive amount of work. That is why the prices combined came out around the amount mentioned by him.

Two coats have been applied to everywhere listed on the estimate. Our contract states that payment is not to be made until customer has made a thorough walk through and is satisfied. They also have a warranty on all painted surfaces. Which we have come out to address some areas that needed to be touched up. The most recent request for warranty work to be done was for us to repaint over areas the customer put wood filler on the porch and/or deck. We have completed our scope of work already, that does not fall under warranty work.

I am rejecting this response because: They don't acknowledge that the wood filler was supposed to be done by them when they did repairs.  We simply did what they failed to do as agreed upon.  They don't acknowledge that they broke the blinds over the tub in the main bathroom when they took them down.  They don't acknowledge that they used our appliances to clean up without our authorization.  They failed to acknowledge that their employees entered our refrigerator and consumed at least a dozen cokes with no authorization or permission.  We don't know what else may be missing, but that was the most obvious.  The "warranty" is a scam if they won't come back and complete the work they left undone.   We have warned our neighbors and other contractors to stay away from them.   We will continue to do so until someone with integrity comes and meets with us.  Preferably someone that speaks English.  The lady that wrote their response has no idea what she is talking about.  She was not here when the guy came out and made a bunch of unkept promises and she hasn't seen the shoddy work that they left behind.

      Sincerely,

      ***************************

      Business response

      05/06/2022

When the ******** originally called for the warranty work to be addressed they mentioned that the paint crew drank from their cokes, they said there was no problem with them drinking them they just wished that the crew would've asked before. That is not like this crew to do, they are trained and know very well not to take anything from customers if they do not offer it to them.

As far as the wood fillings, **************** himself admitted to have done that after the job was completed. We were contracted to clean, and apply 2 coats of stain on the deck, that was completed, after the job was completed **************** put wood filler and claimed that to be warranty work. That is not fair for him to be making such claims.

The week of March 19, 2022, Rodriguez Painting completed a project of repainting the exterior of my home, including restaining the deck in the rear of my home. The total paid by check for the project was $5890 after completion. The current dispute involves poor workmanship in staining the floor of the deck. I waited over a week for the stain to dry before attempting to wash off the pollen. I washed the deck with a regular hose spray, with no pressure, to remove the pollen. As I washed the deck, the stain began to strip from the wood. When I moved furniture around the deck, I also noticed the stain stripping. I called to request that Rodriguez Painting restain the floor of the deck as it appears they only put one coat, which was not sufficient to adequately stain the wood. I sent pictures but the company's response was that "this was no longer covered in our warranty." I then asked "what specifically wasn't covered?" I referred to the warranty and pointed out that the paragraph regarding peeling paint referred to wood that was rotten or in poor condition on the trim or siding. My issue was neither. I pointed out that when the estimator came, he notified me of all wood in poor condition which needed to be replaced, and they were paid to do so. There was no mention of issues with the wood on the deck floor, so poor condition of the wood is not an issue here. I see this as poor workmanship and I would like the company to make this right by coming out an repainting the deck floor. That is all I am asking.

The warranty department along with upper management will be looking into this.

      Customer response

This response is not sufficient and just too vague. I can be waiting forever for the warranty department and upper management to "look into this." I would like to know when I can expect a response from the company because I intend to take further action if necessary. Is there a time frame for them to provide a resolution to this complaint with the BBB? Does the BBB simply accept that the company is "looking into it" as a valid response? Please clarify. Thank you.

Rodriguez painting painted my house exterior in April 2020. Their contract comes with a three year guarantee on their work. I telephoned them a month ago and advised ***** that I had an area over my garage that was peeling and needed touch up. He said they would take care of it. I emailed pictures of the area in concern. To date, I have not heard from them.Today at 10:45 AM I telephoned them at ************. A young lady answered. She spoke so fast, I could not get her name. I started to speak by saying "I called a month ago to get a touchup." She hung up on me. I called right back and it went to voice mail.

I received a call from the business on 10/2/21. The young lady promised to have someone come out to paint on Friday 10/30/21. It rained that day. I didn't hear from them again until today (11/3/21) The young lady said they will come out and paint on 11/5/21 between 11 AM and 1 PM.

I had a paint job done that comes with a 3 year touchup warranty which I have with me. Every time I file a complaint for a touchup, they keep telling me to send pictures. When I send them pictures, they keep telling me I need to pressure wash. Every year I have been pressure washing and then I asked them again for a touchup. They told me to send pictures again and continue to ask me to pressure wash. I have asked them to come and take a look themselves, but they ignore me or continuously ask me to send pictures. Even after pressure washing, their paint job keeps discoloring. It looks like they did not use the correct paint which is why it's causing mildew. I demand service and I am sick of the horrible service provided by this company. I do not want them asking me for pictures anymore. They need to send someone to look at it and provide service as I have warranty. I demand justice or my money back, since they cannot keep to their promise.

The areas of the photos are not touch-**** because those areas just need maintenance, we recommend you to pressure wash your house two times a year and by the looks of the pictures that is all it needs. ************* send the same pictures over and over and yet has not pressure washed the home at all as we instructed him to do so.
