We purchased a 60 x 40 steel building Georgia Southern installed it on our property approximately a year and a half after installation we had a hurricane come through and all three of the commercial rollup doors were blown in and we had a roof panels damaged blown off, doing further research having somebody come out to give us a quote on the doors, we were informed that the doors Georgia Southern installed were not even legal to be installed in the state of *******, theh did not meet code and had no wind rating, we contacted Georgia Southern. We were given the runaround. They kept telling us we’re gonna order you doors then they ordered the wrong size. We asked several times to speak with the owner, we were told he was having a family emergency with his son which I 100% understand he never did call and directly speak with us like we had asked, his staff gave us excuse after excuse we ended up having to have all of the doors replaced at our cost along with the roof. We are now out close to $13,000 not to mention the damage that was caused to our RV by one of the doors coming in and landing on it. They have quit communicating not returning phone calls or text messages. All of this could’ve been avoided if they just installed a quality product that needs code. You can’t install doors with no wind rating in ******* where we have hurricanes, we were never informed that we were getting cheap doors that weren’t even legal in ******* because had that have been the case obviously we would have gone with a different company but when you’re being given information on a building, that’s supposed to withstand up to 140mph winds why would you think any different on the doors they are installingInitial Complaint

PART 1: A contract was signed on April 28, 2024, for the installation of a 24 -foot X 26- foot metal garage with two 10- foot X 10- foot rollup doors with chain hoist, a 36 -inch X 80 -inch walk-in door and a 36- inch X 36- inch window. On 5/31/2024, Mr. Rodney H****** notified us that the builder would be at our house to build the garage. Throughout the week he called every day to postpone by another day. This continued for 4 days. Then on Friday 6/7/2024 we were told that it would be the next week sometime before the builder would be at our house to build the garage. At that time, I told him that if they did not show up that weekend that it would be several weeks before we would be available for the build. Evidently, he prevailed upon them to be at our house on Sunday. They showed up at 5:00 AM which was before the agreed arrival time of 7:00 AM. We gave permission for them to get started and the first thing they do is turn on blaring music which we had them turn down before the neighbors called the cops on us for playing blaring music at 5:00 am on a Sunday morning. About 9:00 PM the builder notified us that he could not install the 10-foot X 10- foot doors because of mistakes in calculations made by someone named "Alex". The company representative "Mr. Rodney H******" was present and told the builder that no money would change hands because the building was not completed. Mr. H****** approached us later because he wanted to immediately write up a new contract to install smaller doors than the size of the doors specified in the original contract. My wife and I discussed it and made the decision that this course of action did not fit our requirements. Since the building could not be completed per the contract written, we requested that Georgia Southern Steel Building return the down payment amount of $2,331.00 that was paid in good faith to Mr. Rodney H******. We also requested that a certified check be given to us before work is started to: continue Part 2 to remove the building. On 8/15/24 “Wayne” from Georgia Southern Steel Building called us and left a message notifying us that they would be at our house on 8/19/24 to remove the building. They did not mention anything regarding the return of our down payment. I called them back and spoke with “Wayne” regarding the return of the down payment. “Wayne” stated that they would not be returning our deposit. I repeated to him again that the contract was not completed, and we do not want to alter the existing contract and the deposit be returned before work is started to remove the building. We told “Wayne” that we did not want someone just showing up on our property. “Wayne” started yelling, being verbally abusive, and threatening to put lien against our property and suing us because we refuse to pay in full for an unfinished building and an uncompleted contract. At that time, I hung up the phone as it was impossible to reason with this man in a professional manner. We received a voicemail from” Kathy” calling from Georgia Southern Steel Building in which she stated, “I have talked to a lawyer about the situation, and we don’t just show up on people’s properties.” She also stated that they bent over backwards trying to make us happy and every time we were too picky, and we did not want nothing that was offered. She also stated, “We will pick that building up and we will bring the law too.” Even though this situation is a result of their mistakes, I do not understand why they refuse to return our deposit when we are left with an unfinished building that can’t be finished without unacceptable alterations. This is something they tried to threaten us into accepting. Because of their bullying tactics, they refuse to return our deposit and still demand to remove the building. We went out and installed this man building and him and his wife told us before we left ** that he would be required to pay his balance in full. On the contract he signed it says we have the right to pick up building if not paid. If he wants us to pick up building he lied cause he told Wayne he would have the law there which is find. Do not come. So we feel he just wants a free building and not pay for it cause if he was a honest person he would allow us to go pick up his building. We deal with dishonest people everyday. We have contacted a lawyer concerning this.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:GA Southern Steel Buildings, Inc. is not telling the complete truth. Here are some key points with this company. Their representative was paid a deposit at the time the contract was signed. The building is not completed per the contract. GA Southern Steel Buildings, Inc. wants to alter the contract to satisfy their mistake. We are refusing to settle for less than we agreed upon in the contract. Because of their breach of the contract, we are requiring the return of our deposit of $2331.00 before GA Southern Steel Buildings, Inc. can retrieve the building and GA Southern Steel Buildings, Inc. is refusing to return our deposit that we paid in good faith. This conflict cannot be settled until the deposit is returned.
Sincerely,
