This company, United Moving and Storage **** quoted me $1,350.00 for moving my items (about 35 boxes of different sizes, 1 bed with mattress, 1 headboard and 1 office chair) from **************, ** to *******, **. I accepted and signed electronically the quote on 10/07/2021 for reserving the move on 11/23/2021. I confirmed my move 1 week before moving date and ************************* told me that everything was ok.On 11/22/2021 ****** told me the movers were going to be at my house between 1:00 and 3:00 pm. The mover finally showed up at 4:30 pm after I have made several calls to United Moving and Storage. After seeing the size of the move and the distance they have to walk in and out of my apartment, he told me the quote was not valid and the new cost for the move was going to be more than $3500. He spoke with United Moving and Storage but I don't know what their agreement was. I decided to leave behind some of my belongings in order to lower the cost. We finally agreed on $2775 payable to United Moving and Storage.On 11/24/2021 I received a call from United Moving and Storage, telling me to take a picture of a cheque written in the name of Nationwide Transportation and to send it through my phone. He also told me to pay the difference of $896 directly to the driver at the time of delivery that was going to happen between 7 to 10 days after my requested day. With these two payments the total amount for the move was going to be $2995, way above the $1350 quoted originally.They cashed the cheque using the picture on 11/27/2021. That same date I received a call from ****, the mover, telling me he still had my belongings and he was going to leave them "somewhere" because he hadn't received the payment from United Moving and Storage.I called United and they asked me if I had signed a contract with the mover, when i said no because my contract was with them, they told me my only option was to file a police report because the mover was a thief.This is a scam.Initial Complaint

The price changed during the move. The original invoice was for $2780. During the move an additional labor cost of $ 375.00 was added to the invoice. When I stated I should only pay the amount on the original invoice I was told I could cancel the delivery if I did not want to pay. I felt the company was extorting me for the extra amount. When the truck arrived there was an additional $650.00 added. This needed to be paid before the truck was unloaded. Again there was no indication an additional cost would be incurred. The cost went from the agreed upon $2780.00 to $3760.00. This increase was not explained anytime prior. I certainly feel this is unacceptable business practice. On a final note the driver was not vaccinated so could not enter the building to perform the final move. I have to complete the move myself. Overall this was a very unpleasant experience. I do request the difference between the agreed upon amount and final amount be reimbursed to me. I would also ask if this increase is typical for their practice. I have included the invoices.
