Late June (24th/25th/2024) my apartment home starting leaking water from my HVAC area. During this time, multiple maintenance request were placed and due to not responding in a timely manner, mildew and mold started to accumulate on my multiple areas of our walls, ceiling areas, and outside area. Due to the problem being temporarily patched up (July 4th/5th) and not fully resolved as requested, the leak resurfaced (early August/2024) and the mold/mildew grew quickly. Multiple calls, maintenance request were made. We were notified the source of the problem, but promises of the resolutions have become unfulfilled. The temperature of the apartment continues to be hot, humid, and damp, which has become a breeding ground for mold to our personal property. An email and letter was placed in the front office drop box, attention to the Property Manager, Mr. ******* ********** (dated August 21, 2024), but he has not reached out to us. As of August 31, 2024, no contact was made to us regarding any updates was received. Until the problem gets resolved, we've asked for a mobile A/C unit, we were promised and assured we would receive one, but as of August 31, 2024, we have not received one. All our windows in the apartment are open to air out the bad pollutants, along with fans to manage, but because of the temperature of the apartment, the growth of mold is increasing at alarms rates. We've had to discard personal property and contact our agent regarding our rental insurance regarding the matter. Per our Apartment Contract/Lease Agreement, residents are to clean up any mold exposure, until the problem is resolved. We have done part and continue to do so. However, to date, this issue has not been resolved by the Maintenance Department. Neither has the Property Manager made any attempts to reach out to us of future plans of the apartment.

The leak that is causing damage to the tenant’s apartment is coming from the HVAC system in the apartment above. We have been waiting on parts to fix the HVAC. The parts have arrived and the repair is scheduled. The next steps will include placing a dehumidifier in the downstairs apartment and getting the moisture out. Once that is complete we can begin the repair. We have already had 3 contractors out to assess the damage and provide quotes. We expect the issue to be resolved in its entirety by Friday 9/20/24.
