My car was towed by GATA Recovery on May 8. that day i had $60 in a coin purse in my vehicle. I watched it be towed so i know no one around took it out. when i cleaned it out my coin purse was empty. i called the company, not asking for money back, just letting them know my money was stolen and theres a thief around their quarters. The man who answered proceeded to tell me to stop calling him a thief because he cleans the cars out. I never called him a thief, but he decided to take this personally. He told me he didnt need my money. i explained to him i never called him a thief, i just said someone around stole my money. He continued to take it personally and was very rude with me. Now i am out of $60 and the man had no remorse and was very rude with me, despite the fact that i never directed any comments towards him specifically. I will not be using this company again for further tows. Their rude customer service, high tow fees and now thievery has turned me from them.Business Response

Not sure what vehicle you are referring to. We do not "tow" vehicles, we repossess them. I was present and heard the phone call. You absolutely accused us of stealing your money. The man on the phone took it personal because you directed your accusation at him and continued to call him a thief. If you had the opportunity at the time of repossession to remove your belongings and did not choose to do so, then that it on you. We do not appreciate anyone calling and accusing any one of our employees of stealing. stop lying. My car was a black Chevrolet Equinox. it was not a repossession, it was a wreck. sadly yall are who the city recommended me to use. not sure why considering yall have terrible reviews. i absolutely NEVER referred to him, or anyone at yalls company, a thief. that is a flat LIE. i said multiple times i was not calling HIM SPECIFICALLY a thief. but if hes so offended then i dont doubt that it was anymore. i did not have the opportunity to gather my belongings because me and my 4 month old had just been in a serious wreck. i should be able to trust the company towing my car to keep everything i own inside. yall are extremely unprofessional, rude and THIEVES. **** deny every complaint on here yet they cant all be liars. yall have multiple reviews saying yall stole from them. If your car was involved in a wreck we definitely did not touch anything in your vehicle. If I remember correctly you sent someone else to clean your vehicle out. I would check with them. My car was repossessed. They say you have to make an appointment online to get your things. The online site would not allow you to pick any times. The company said you have to make an appointment for Tuesday. While I'm on the property, i tried to make an appointment for Tuesday. They site would not allow you to make appointments. If the date you have selected does not offer a time, that means there are no times available for that day. They threatened me when I asked for my personal property. This is a racist organization. They can say what they want. They treated me wrong because of my race. You were told on the phone prior to the day you showed up that you MUST have an appointment to do anything at our lot. You were also told not to show up at our lot without an appointment, which you did. When you arrived, you were asked to leave because you did not have an appointment and were told that you would be turned away if you showed up without an appointment. After multiple times of asking and telling you leave, we did call law enforcement. You would not leave private property when you were asked to. I am sorry that your vehicle was repossessed because YOU didn't do what you were supposed to. I'm sorry that YOU did not listen when you were told not to show up without making an appointment. My car was repossessed on Wed 10-18, I went to see if I could get my purse and medicine out of the vehicle on 10-19, they told me I had to make an appointment and they could not give me my things until the finance company sent them a letter. After being talked to rude when I was trying to explain that I needed those things I has to make an appointment online. I did and got an text saying it was not confirmed but they received my request to pick up my things on 10-20 which was their earliest time. I called a little after 9am to make sure it was confirmed ang got another text saying I was denied because those times was only for vehicle possession. The vehicle was repossessed on Oct 18. When you came to our lot yesterday, we explained to you that everything we do here is done by appointment only. We offered to get your medication for you at the time you were here and you chose not to get just the medication. As we explained then, we would get the medication and you would need to make an appointment for the other belongings. You then scheduled an appointment for "transport" which is for transporters ONLY. You're appointment was declined because you did not schedule for the correct appointment. You will need to schedule for a "personal property" appointment.Customer Answer

When I went in on Thursday morning, I was told I had to go online to make an appointment and it wouldn't be an appointment for today. I asked can I get my purse and my medicine? I was asked what kind of medicine it was by the gentleman who was being rude. He then told me I couldn't get my purse or my items until the finance company sent a letter telling them they can release it but I had to have an appointment. He told me to leave. I went online to make the 10am appointment for the next day. This was the earliest time they had I received a text that I have attached. They received it. When I called the business this morning so I can have enough time to find another ride to be there by 10am, they did not answer but sent another text saying my appointment was for the wrong thing and it was declined. In order to get my purse and personal belongings I will now have to wait until next week. I have patient documentation for work as well as my life in that car. They were not that busy and I could see the car in the parking lot.

Your lies will catch up with you. The rude gentleman said he couldn't give me my things until the finance company released them. You told the police officer you offered to give me ny purse and medicine and I did not want them. That did not happen. The lady at the desk if that's you typing said I had to have an appointment. I never rejected my things but at that point I was told I could not get my purse , and asked what kind of medicine I was taking by the rude gentleman. Remember my Aunt was there when the rude gentleman told me to get out. That was in Thursday 10-19, not Friday like you told the police officer.

My 2019 ****** ****** was repossessed on 9.26.23. I paid the loan lender the amount needed on 9.26.23. My lender, ******** **** and ****** and the vendor the lender used, *** recovery notified GATA recovery in ********** ** today at 9 a.m. to release my vehicle to them. GATA recovery is refusing to release my vehicle to me when I attempt to go to their establishment to pay what they're charging. GATA informed me that I cannot have my vehicle until 9.29.23. I have ***o been denied being able to go get my child's car seat out the vehicle so that I may transport my child safely, and lawfully. They are holding my vehicle so that they may charge storage fee daily. Their website states open 24/7 and by calling GATA recovery's listed phone number ************ , their automated message states you are able to pick up a vehicle Monday- Friday 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. If I was allowed to obtain my vehicle today, I would be due $175.00, by them refusing my vehicle to be released they have managed to bump up the bill to $225.00.Business Response

Let me address our phone message first: In our message it gives you our lot hours of 9am-4pm. These are not hours to "pick up a vehicle". These are simply the hours our office and lot are open daily. ***o on our phone message it addresses "if your vehicle has been repossessed" and "if your vehicle has been impounded". These are 2 very different things and the cost of an impound is $185 and $25 per day storage. Again, 2 different things. Just because we repossess or impound 24/7 does NOT mean that our lot is open those hours. Our phone ***o tells you to go to our website and request an appointment, which is what we require for repossessions.
No one in this office has refused to give you a car seat. I believe you were told to let us know what vehicle and we would gladly get your car seat our for you. I am assuming that you did not like what you were told and therefore are claiming we refused to give it to you when in fact we would have gladly given you the car seat at any time.
Everything that is done on our lot is done by appointment ONLY. We have rules and laws we have to abide by when it comes to a debtor. I'm sorry that you cannot seem to understand this. No one has refused to release your vehicle to you. We simply told you to make an appointment just like everyone else has to do. It just so happens that the first appointment we had available was on 09/29. ***o, no one has told you that you had to pay anything at our lot so I am not sure where you got any indication that you owed any money here.
We will see you on Friday at the appointment you made.

This morning May 4th 2023. They came to pick up my car which I understand doing their job. I have an extremely high risk pregnancy. I asked the driver if I can get my purse out of the car to get my medication I need and he said yes when I went to get the keys came out to him smiling flipping us off and took off.. mind you tearing up my yard, hitting one of my cats. I called to get my medication and my purse that has my wallet with all my insurance cards in it. The lady answered argued I can’t get any of my stuff I have to set up an appointment the next appointments to get anything is 3/10. I have doctors appointments I need my insurance card and information for. I watched his truck video of what she is claiming happened. The driver did not run over a cat, nor did he flip anyone off. The driver does not have to let anyone in the vehicle. She was never told she could not get her stuff. We require everyone to make an appointment for anything on this lot. As of this complaint, we have NOT received the redemption paperwork for your vehicle and cannot release without the proper paperwork. We do not only service this town so our volume is quite large. We offer appointments every day of the week but as of today, Wednesday is our first available. You were told on the phone that it was not fair for us to bump someone else's appointment to accommodate you. There are others who are trying to do the same thing you are and we serve everyone in order of the appointments they schedule. You were not at all nice when you called this morning but want us to bend over backward to help you and change our policies to suit you. On Monday January 2nd, GATA recovery repossessed my vehicle. Completely fine, I didn’t pay my bills and I understand that was a repercussion. Here’s the issue, when I called to see what I had to due to get my car, they refused to pick up the phone as I had already left a voicemail, emailed them and texted to no avail. Finally, I used a different number and the lady that works in the office picked up within two rings. She absolutely was disturbingly rude once she realized it was me, like should not have a customer service job at all kind of rude. I explained to her that I paid off the bill and that my vehicle was released and I needed to know when she was in the office so I could get there. She proceeded to say that she is available by appointment only, the appointment slots were 30 minutes long, to do 5 minutes of paperwork and she would not be willing to make an exception even though she had ample opportunity and time available. When I arrived there today, 10 minutes early to my scheduled 2pm appointment, which apparently, as stated before, she will not budge on, she was vaping, her disgusting unkept/unclean dog rushed to the door while I’m holding my toddler, she handed me the paperwork and had me out the door BEFORE 2pm! They keep these slots open to bleed people dry to charge storage fees, again anytime you recover your vehicle, it literally takes less then 10 minutes worth of paperwork. They are using these slots to gouge people and it’s unethical, lazy and irresponsible. Ontop of her keeping an large dog breed that was clearly not maintained as it absolutely stunk so bad, I started choking along with the vape cloud, this business is horrible and should seriously be investigated.Business Response

Yes, we do things by appointment only. That is our right as a business. Your paperwork was received 45 minutes before we closed for the day. We also did not have any available appointments for that day. It is not our fault that your vehicle was repossessed so therefore it is not our fault that you may have to wait to redeem your vehicle. You weren't choking at all. You never coughed and I will be glad to pull the video to show you that. Our dog lives on this property and that is also well within our right as business owners. I'm sorry that you were not able to pay your bills and it resulted in your vehicle getting repossessed but your thoughts on how we run our office or our dog being on our lot is of no concern to us.Initial Complaint

My car was repoed, and GATA was the vendor that ****** hired. There were valuable things taken out of my car. Between the horrible customer service and the blatant lies that were involved, it shows that GATA did in fact steal the items. This is our second time having things stolen out of our car by GATA. The first time, they denied they took anything, but tried to pay us for what was stolen. This time the timeline of events, and lies are proving that they have yet once again stolen from us.Business Response

This vehicle has been repossessed 3 times by our company. Each time, Ms. ******* was "missing" something. We were unable to clean the vehicle out this time due to the fact that the transporter loaded and was gone before we could. This time she handed the keys over to our driver and had every opportunity to get her personals out before the car was taken. She chose not to. She was also told that we did not clean the vehicle out and that she could retrieve her personals from the auction. After 3 times of having items go missing, this is obviously a pattern with Ms. *******.Customer Answer
