On Monday, 1/17/2022, I was quoted $7765.00 for my move from *******, ** to ***************, ** by Read ********. The charge was $845 for packing my items and $6920.00 for moving the items plus insurance for a 2 BR, 2 BA apartment (few furniture items). He declined seeing pictures of the items. On Tuesday, 1/18/2022, I was told that I need to pay for the move in full, although it still has yet to occur ($6920.00). I was charged for an additional person to back my items on Tuesday (1/18/2022) without my consent. I was also charged an additional $200 over the estimate for packing supplies with no itemization of the supplies. They charged me for 5 hours of work, plus an hour of travel. They only worked 4 hours. This can be verified. I was quoted $845 for packing my apartment, but I ended up paying $1,284.50. The movers wore regular nondescript street clothing and had a rental truck. On Wednesday, 1/19/2022, I sent an email that I wanted to be informed BEFORE any additional charges. I was alone in my apartment with the three male movers. I was afraid that they would damage my items while loading them, so I agreed to charge but requested that it not happen again. On Thursday, 1/20/2022, I called the company because at the last moment my closing date was delayed. I was told that there could be a "small" additional charge. I informed them that I would call back once I decided. When I called back, no one was supposedly available. I didn't receive a call back until Friday, 1/21/2022, and I was informed that my items had already been placed in storage. I did not give authorization. On Monday, 1/24/2022 I received a call and was told that I owed an additional $1194.00, no invoice provided. I have already paid a total of $8,204.5 for a move that hasnt happened. Now I am being told that I owe an additional $1194.00. They wont even tell me where my items are located. There are a number of inconsistencies in the paperwork (no move **** of Lading #, dates).
