On January 30, 2022 I went into McKinney pet store and while I was looking at the animals I came across so many sickly looking animals. The rabbits didn't have any hay which is important for digestion. Then i came across the bearded dragons. One looked so sick it looked like he was going to die any minute. I asked about the dragon to one of the workers and he didn't seem to care. The baby dragon had wrinkly skin and was so skinny which is a sign of dehydration, parasites, or another kind of disease. On January 31, 2022 I came back to see if the bearded dragon was still alive and it was not there. I asked and nobody seemed to know what happened to him. They say they sold another one that same day but I doubt that he lived even if he was the one that got sold. I felt bad for the others and bought one from the same cage. I bought him for $80.Its tail was a stub and turning black but all they said was some have stubs. I knew I'd have to take to vet to get checked out because Bearded dragons don't have stubs unless it was bitten off by another dragon, amputated, etc. The bearded dragon barely opened his eyes, was on sand which can cause impaction if ingested, killing them quickly but i thought I'll get him home, see how he does in a better environment. I get him home and set up everything he needs. He does not get better. His eyes stayed closed unless i touched him. He barely ate his food only had 2 bugs the first couple days. His care was the best anyone could do. On February 14th he was barely moving and never opened his eyes even when picked up. I had a vet appointment set up but he dies before i could make it there. My vet said they had another bearded dragon test positive for atadenovirus that was bought from their store. I call the store to let them know mine died too and had same symptoms. I asked for a refund and they told me no. The virus is so contagious it can be passed on to many more animals in their care. They had no photography signs on the cages.
