    We would like to report that ******* *****, proprietor of Smooth Concrete (*** ********* **** ********** was contracted to build a concrete and brick walkway at *** ***** ******, ***** ****** ****** on October 16, 2023. We paid him a deposit of $4500 by check #****, which he cashed. He came to do some site preparation a couple of days in early November and then stopped responding to text messages and phone calls from us (property owners) and our project manager. On December 15, 2023 we sent a certified letter to him at his address which we found on the Glynn County Business Registry website. It was returned to us. We sent another letter to the address that appears on the contract he signed, but that one was inexplicably lost in the mail in Jacksonville over the holidays. Subsequent to that, we learned from a mutual acquaintance that ******* mentioned on Facebook (we are not on social media) that he moved to *** ****** ********** on December 29, 2023. We then sent him one more text message, stating that we would be pursuing this matter if we were not refunded by January 19, 2024. We have heard nothing. Aside from the not-insubstantial sum of money, we are outraged that someone can take our money and then leave the state. It feels that we have been robbed—not just neglected by a contractor who didn’t execute the contracted job.
