My bunny needed emergency care and I took her to Feather and Fur on Thursday, 2/16/2024 at 6:30pm. They took her in but didn't examine her or even look at her symptoms until 11:00pm that night. By then, she was barely able to move. She was then diagnosed with GI stasis and put on fluids almost 5 hours after we went in for help. She survived the night and the next night, undergoing two emergency operations to get a tube down her throat to remove the fluids. I stayed at the animal hospital ***** hours for each day she was there. The vet had ultrasounded her to see that she had fluid in her lungs from the operation and he gave her diuretics to remove the fluid. The treatment worked and she was able to breath and then eat. The last day on Sunday 2/18/2024, the doctor who treated her, ************, refused to let me see her the entire day. I was able to see her in the morning around 8am, they brought my bunny to me. She was breathing hard and i asked for her to return to the oxygen chamber she had been in for two days. Prior, i was able to visit her in the oxygen chamber. This vet did not let me visit her all day. I asked to see her at 4pm and they told me to wait until visiting hours at 5pm. My bunny passed away at 4:30pm and the vet came looking for me while they were trying to revive her. While i was back there, the tech told me they didn't let me visit on that day because the staff from the day. before said I was in their space too much and that i was being a lot. Nobody confronted me the day before and it was the doctor who let me visit my bunny in the oxygen chamber multiple times. Instead they were arguing with me while my bunny was dying. i asked the vet if she ultrasounded my bunny after she was breathing hard to check the fluid in her lungs. She said no, that they thought she would be ok. I then asked how did they know then how much diuretic to give her. She didn't answer my question. The staff did not give my bunny proper care and she subsequently died.

If your pet is experiencing a time-sensitive emergency, PLEASE PLEASE reconsider not taking your pet here. Learn from our experience and hear out what happened. We have an angora-dwarf rabbit that began showing symptoms of GI Stasis - unfortunately, during the labor day weekend when most pet hospitals are closed. We received multiple recommendations to come to **************************** so we trusted them but it was a big mistake to place our trust in this "hospital."Within a couple hours after noticing GI stasis symptoms, my girlfriend and I rushed our rabbit over to ****************************. We called ahead and specifically stated that we believe this might be GI stasis, which is time-sensitive (if they do not get treated soon, they may pass away within 1 day.) We live in town so it's not an easy drive and in general we aren't used to driving out this far.We dropped off our rabbit at around 4:30PM and was told "it will take a few hours." That's fine to us, since it's still broad daylight and we will be patient and hang out in the nearby area until it's done.It is now 6:45PM and no return phone call. I call them to check the status of our rabbit: they tell us "we need a few more hours." At this point, we are starting to panic. A few more hours? So are we saying he might not be seen to 10PM? So we ask, "do you offer overnight services - since we probably need to drive back in town, it's getting dark, and at a certain point we need to make the tough call to head back home. We will be willing to pay extra for overnight care." She replies we don't offer this service.SO HERE IS THE BOTTOM LINE, you have two choices: 1. Keep waiting "a few more hours" (indefinitely) for our rabbit to receive any help at all & sleep in the car in a dangerous parking lot. Or 2. Make the decision to take our rabbit back home and figure something out first thing tomorrow. I am not prepared to get into a car accident being exhausted while driving far from home, so we decided we would drive back to **************************** and ask them one more time how much longer? We arrive at the clinic and "good news! Your rabbit is second in line so we expect only a 30 minute wait!" We decide it's worth the risk staying a little longer and giving them another chance. So we wait.It is not 7:50PM and we call them back. OUR RABBIT HAS NOT YET BEEN SEEN OR TREATED BY ANY DOCTOR AT THIS POINT! wtf??!? How can a rabbit be dropped off and sitting in a fu***ing cage for over 3 hours with absolutely no medical assistance whatsoever???I told the person on the phone that I specifically asked for emergency help. "How do you consider this an "emergency" if literally 3 hours have passed without a single doctor stopping to even look at our pet???"Furthermore, we are reading online that GI stasis is a pretty quick fix: they need to give him some intestinal fluids that will help move his digestive system again. We heard this fluid can be given orally or rectally. No surgery or complex action needed. They just needed to give him a fu***ing drink. In conclusion, around 8PM, we finally received our rabbit back (still no medical treatment rendered whatsoever) and brought him home. We then proceeded to watch our rabbit UNTIL 4AM force-feeding him hay and water - basically doing whatever home remedy we had to save his life.THANKFULLY the rabbit is showing signs of improvement. There seems to be a hopeful end to this disaster of a situation. He is slowly eating and getting a little bit of energy back but his p*** is not 100% good yet and we can tell he is still feeling a little lethargic and weak.We are going to reach out to many other pet clinics that service rabbits to try to find him reliable medical service. What was ************************** thinking when they accepted him at 4:30?? Did they honestly know that if they accepted this rabbit, he would not have any doctors available past 8PM that night to help him? So why did they accept him then? Were they just in it for the money? "Just accept as many pets as possible and start generating bills and if a few suffer then OH WELL?" This is so irresponsible. They should never have accepted him if they knew it would take so many hours without any care. They took away precious hours for us to try another clinic that could take us in within 1-2 hours **** I would have actually respected them if they told me, "honestly, your rabbit will not be seen any time soon if you bring him here. Check with another clinic that is available. We don't want your rabbit with potential GI stasis waiting for several hours in line." But they failed to do that. This whole situation was mishandled by ************************** who mistreated our pet and endangered his life, since hours are critical for this type of issue. This borderlines on negligence. I will be reaching out to other organizations for help on this matter. We will not forget our experience.
