Around October of last year I had my 2014 dodge journey into honest wrenches for some repairs. When my car was returned to me I was assured that everything that needed done was done. A few days after I found that my remote starter had been either removed or disabled. As time has gone on different things have gone worse with the car that we're not bad in the beginning. I paid over $4,000 or rather financed over $4,000 with honest wrenches for the repairs then that were guaranteed for 5 years now they are wanting to charge another $5,000 to fix things that weren't wrong with it when they had it the first time. Or things that they have made up to be wrong with it or cause to be wrong with it from my suspicions

On November 18th, 2022, the client brought there vehicle in with a concern of a fluid leak. we conducted a thorough testing & inspection of the vehicle, which led us to identify fluid leaks from both the transmission cooler lines and the engine oil filter housing. In addition, we discovered that the transmission fill plug was missing. Upon your approval, we proceeded with the necessary repairs for the identified issues. During the same visit, we also recommended addressing other maintenance items for your vehicle's well-being.It's important to clarify that the concerns raised during your subsequent visit on August 4th, 2023, regarding the vehicle stalling after highway driving, are distinct and unrelated to the previous repairs. The nature of these issues suggests separate underlying causes.Regarding your assertion of warranty coverage, we want to ensure clarity. We stand behind the work we performed on your vehicle, offering a warranty of 5 years or ****** miles. ******** it's essential to understand that our warranty is specific to the components we repaired, and we do not extend responsibility to cover other vehicle components unrelated to our service.Additionally, we wish to address the claim of remote starter removal. We did not perform any work or interact with your remote starter system. During our inspection, we noticed that your key fob did not have a remote start option, and we have no record of any work involving that system. We strive to provide accurate and transparent service, and we genuinely value your trust in our expertise.I attempted to upload the inspections and invoices but it keeps saying that the files are too large. I would be happy to provide those if needed. Thank you.

On 7/21/23, the check engine light came on in my 2019 ****** Pathfinder. The closest shop to tow it was Honest Wrenches. I called them, they offered to tow it right away and stated they had 2 cancelations and could get it diagnosed within the day. They called me at the end of the day, Friday, saying they didnt get it looked at and would have to be Monday. On Monday, they called and asked me to read the inspection they emailed me but wouldnt explain over the phone. When I finally received the email, it showed a list of things not passing inspection and a price of $6800. There was no itemization break down of which things cost what but noted a bad fuel injector as the main issue. They said that they couldnt replace just one bad one, all of them had to be replaced- no price given on that total. I called several other places who told me that absolutely 1 injector could be done. I told honest wrenches that I couldnt pay the $6800 and had to have it towed to another shop. They took everything out and found that 1 spark plug was bad and all the injectors were functioning properly. This should have been diagnosed and 1 spark plug fixed on Friday when they said it would be done. Instead of an entire week of panic without my car trying to figure out how Ill come up with $6800!!!I paid Honest Wrenches $345 total but should have never chosen those fraudulent crooks! The 3 other shops I called said they hear complaints about Honest Wrenches daily. Somehow, they have all 5 star reviews- they have to be fake!

Upon your arrival with a check engine light indication & flashing condition, our priority was to conduct a thorough diagnosis to identify the underlying issue. With your approval, we proceeded with the necessary testing. During this process, we examined cylinder 4's spark plug and observed it to be fouled and contaminated, suggesting a potential fuel-related issue. Further testing using a bore scope revealed the cylinder to be filled with fuel.To ascertain the cause, we conducted controlled ignition tests, which confirmed the fuel injector for cylinder 4 was malfunctioning. We also took steps to eliminate other potential causes. During our investigation, we noticed that the engine oil exhibited an overfilled condition with a fuel odor, indicating possible fuel infiltration. After completing the initial diagnostics, we reassembled the components and returned your vehicle. The testing results indicated a stuck open fuel injector for cylinder 4, leading to the cylinder being filled with fuel. Our recommended repairs, including the replacement of GDI fuel injectors, high pressure lines, spark plugs, gaskets, and other components, were based on our commitment to your vehicle's reliability and safety. This comprehensive approach ensures the well-being of your vehicle and passengers. We understand the concerns raised in your reviews, and we wish to clarify that our aim was to provide a lasting solution. It is unfortunate that our intentions have been misconstrued, and we are committed to addressing your concerns with transparency. As noted in your reviews you state that you did not have to replace fuel injectors only a fouled spark plug. We do have proof via text message from you that states you did end up having to replace fuel injectors. Our records indicate discussions surrounding the fuel injector replacement, and it is our responsibility to recommend a thorough approach to ensure your vehicle's optimal performance. The additional repair recommendations were made considering the status of adjacent injectors, which were nearing their service life. I am requesting that this allegation is removed as we have show with detail and proof that everything we did is indeed in alignment with the safety and guidelines to keep the client safe and reliable.

I am rejecting this response because: the recommended repairs totaling $6,800 were found to be unnecessary and with out any price break down of individual parts/labor for each repair. When I called to discuss this price of $6800, I pleaded with ***** to please only fix the one bad injector to get it running and he refused stating that wasnt possible it do. I called around to four other places who told me there would be no problem with fixing just one and that honest wrenches was taking advantage of me just throwing out a lump sum of a bunch of random repairs needed. They refused to fix just one thing- I had to pay all $6800 or nothing. I towed it to another place who actually ran the diagnostic codes and found bad spark plug, took apart the fuel injectors-ALL OF THEM WERE FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY, I had already purchased a new gasket, spark plugs and fuel injector so I asked the mechanic if any of them looked worn and he said #6 looked sticky but did not need replaced- I asked him to replace it anyway since I already bought it. All that was required to get my car repaired were new spark plugs and a gasket. $400. They lied about what was broken and added on an extra $6000 that wasnt needed at all. My car is still running perfectly after a thousand mi trip. They said I admitted the fuel injectors were bad- that is another lie, I in fact, said NONE of them were BAD, especially the #4 they said was the problem, the one I had replaced was still working and not the cause of the break down. I would love to provide the text message conversation!

      Sincerely,

They advertise BBB accredited A+ rating. (See pic)12/6/21 took car to Honest Wrenches for scheduled routine maint per owner manual..12/7/21 picked car up noticed charge for unauthorized work of $417.77 started having problems with my car.not wanting to start.bout a week later.Took 12 days and a lot of calls and texts before I was given credit for future work.12/23 called AAA for a jumpstart 12/24 called honest wrenches and they told me to bring it in Tuesday 12/28 I had taken a pic of wires that were Corroded they werent hook to anything. I showed ****** and asked if there is a chance that those wires could be causing the problems. Along with corrosion on the positive battery cable. He said no and sometimes negative wires arent hook to anything and if its been like that for awhile dont worry as long as the car had always started. The kept the car for 2 days and it started every time. Told me next time it wont start have it towed there 1/9/22 had it towed to HW 1-11/22 was toldI needed a battery and neg cable (same cable I took a pic of 12/28 and was dont worry bout it. They sent me an estimate of $641.01 for battery and neg cable, $1093..44 plus tax. That is $1,,855.35.There was nothing wrong with my car when I brought it to HW. They just got $1,700 from me. Now they want another $1,800..I asked for a break down of parts and labor. His system is set up by job and he doesnt know how much. So no one can mess with numbers He has every single year, make and model of every vehicle ever made and the hundreds, if not thousands of parts for each vehicle in his system. So what happens if price of parts go up? A week after I towed car from Dishonest Wrenches he decided to charge me $197.66. Not once did anyone mention that I was being billed because I was told I wasnt. I did not authorize anyone to take money from my account. I am owed $417.77.I have recorded calls & texts that proves everything but I dont know how to upload

      Complaint: 16681684

I am rejecting this response because:

In response to *********************** answer I don't think any of what he wrote is true. Below is a short overview of what occurred in the 42 days that I dealt with Honest Wrenches.

      December 6, 2021
I took my vehicle in for some routine scheduled maintenance per my owners manual. My car was not having any problems. It ran just fine. When the Service Advisor went over everything they said needed done. I told him do not replace the license plate bulb, the horn, the hood latch cable or the small crack in the tail light or the wiper blades (which were replaced just a week prior). In fact, I told him twice that where I bought the car was going to order the hood latch assembly from ***** and when I had time to come in and he would put it on. This call was recorded by HW. I was so glad to hear that. 8 texts and 7 phone calls in 12 days of getting the run around I was finally told the owner agreed to give me a credit of $417.77. I later found out that no one had to go thru phone calls that they knew the whole time exactly when the phone call took place. The total amount I paid was $1,699.21.

12/20/2021 Voicemail from ******, Service Advisor
Hey ****** it's ****** from Honest Wrenches. I just wanted to give you a call and let you know I went ahead and put a note on your account for credit for the amount of what was spent on the hood latch assembly. If you have any questions give us a call at ************. Thank you.

So as you can see ****************** is not telling the truth. I never accused Honest Wrenches of breaking my hood latch. They charged me for fixing it after they were told twice not to fix it. ******************** didn't do anything in regards of being gracious. If you notice  in his reply he states that he gave me a credit to my account for the unauthorized charge. Then a little further down he states he can't just take money from someone's account, which is exactly what he has done. He lies about lying.

I had constant problems with my car since HW first worked on my car. On January 9th, I had it towed, at my expense, to HW because they asked me to. They gave me a quote of $1,800 to fix it. I just paid them $1,600 a month ago. Remember there was nothing wrong with my car when I first took it there. So whose scamming who. They seen an elderly woman bringing her car there and thought I was an easy way to make money. Shame on you ***** I'm tired of people like you preying on seniors, women and the uninform because you think we don't know any better. So now I have a car that doesn't run, after paying $1,600. for a tune up and fluids changed and unless i pay another $1,800 for them to "fix" it. This whole deal has been a nightmare for me.

When they would not give me a breakdown of parts and labor I told them not to work on my car that i would have it towed out. That was on January 13th. I called and texted everyday to get the $417 that was owed to me. For nine days not once did any employee say I owed any money. Not even when I brought the loaner back and handed them the keys. I want to say that every employee I dealt with was always very polite. It is the deceptive business practices put in place by the owner, ***** where the problem lies. Finally **** told me **** would call me the 21st, a full week after I had my car towed.

Below is what was said during mine and **** only phone call. I recorded the call after all that has happened.

****: I see that the guys gave you the credit of $413.86. It looks like we had testing on the vehicle last time it was in. I took $196.67 off  your credit for what  you owed. That leaves a balance of $216.20.

Me: No. I was told there would be no charge.

****: Well it is because you had a credit that you are being charged.

Me: That is not what I was told by several of your guys.

      ****: Well that's the case.

Me: I figured you would pull something like this.

****: Well you know I can pull it even worse. I can pull it now. It's gonna be real easy with you. So if you would like to blast me over social media you do whatever you want to do. I'm gonna tell you that probably would not be smart.

Me: I dont want to do that. So how much are you sayin you owe me?

****: $216.20 So what I will do I got to get as check cut for you. As soon as I have that check cut for you I'm gonna have **** call you. When you come in there's gonna be some paperwork your gonna have to sign stating I'm refunding you money, that your not going to blast me on ******** or social media. That yr not going to do anything.

Me: No I'm not going to sign that.

****: Then I'm not giving you any money.

******************** is a bully and he's trying to intimidate me. He thinks he can scare me and threaten to keep my money and there's nothing I can or will do. I'm tired of being taken advantage of and this time I'm not going to let him. I notice he did not mention him advertising that he is BBB accredited With a A+ rating. That alone should tell you about his business practices. But I'm sure you guys will handle that false advertisement yourself.
