No stars, in fact minus 5 stars. Never buy a Universal Life Policy from this sorry company or any other. Youd be much better off putting your money in savings. I bought a policy in the 80s hoping to leave my wife a nest egg. The agent, a former co-worker never disclosed hardly anything to me. My fault! If you have a ********* and have any money left, take it out now, because you will lose it. The agents I dealt with are terrible. They just read you the statement you already get in the mail. I had this policy for at least 20 plus years and ****** dollars later, its not worth the paper its written on. It just goes away. I am not a competitor or anything like that, I am a real person and will gladly tell the BBB that they cant be trusted if they rank this company A plus. Midland National are CROOKS of the highest order. Some Americans are stupid, including myself, when it comes to buying life insurance and life insurance companies keep building larger buildings. Congress needs to outlaw Universal Life policies and put insurance execs. on the HOT seat. A lot of good that will do. Have a good day, keep YOUR money ************** BLESS AMERICA & phooey on all insurance companies. My Dad always said Never trust **************************** companies. Cannot get in touch with my agent.Cannot get in touch with a customer representative.When I do call, I wait for 30 minutes only to be hung up on multiple times! How am I supposed to have my questions answered?This business is scummy from the top down.From predatory business practices, to agents that lie and disappear. I have no choice but to move forward and surrender my policy as I do not think that my money is safe here. And if you are reading this you should be worried as well. I am fortunate enough to be young enough to build back my cash value somewhere else. For those that are decades deep into this policy, I am sorry.Midland National Life Insurance Company

Scandalous and dishonest. I had a 10 year term policy which I did not convert after ten years. That's on me. Fine, I get it. My agent abandoned me after day one. I never heard back from him, ever, for twenty years. I was enrolled in automatic bank deduction since day one and therefore all premiums were paid on time. After 20 years I received a letter that my payment lapsed, therefore, my policy lapsed, also. Midland just decided to stop taking the funds from my bank account without my authorization to do so and never contacted me ahead of time to inform me that there would be a change. I called Midland and they told me that I needed to bring this up with my agent even though I was never assigned a new agent. I asked them who authorized the auto payment to be stopped because it was not me. They had no answer. So, in the end, I am without a policy now, period. They kept my premiums even though they refused to tell me how much I paid to them over the years, and, that was the last I heard from them. Pretty sarcastic and demeaning individual on the phone showed no compassion whatsoever or even a remedy to my situation. Even though my premiums increased over the years I showed no issue with it. They should be mindful of how they treat their paying customers and remember that each one of them represents the company, not themselves. They are only employees and not the owners. They forget, we customers have friends that we referred and those referrals can always be reversed resulting in membership decline. My ************* insurance company did not get away with this. They ended up returning everybody's premiums that paid in over 20 years. These insurance companies will do whatever they can because they have NO OVERSIGHT.Midland National Life Insurance Company

Disgusting company. I filed a claim for my aunts small life ins policy as her executor of estate. Midland continually lied to me, held up the claim over a year until her ex husband, after 12 years being divorced, tried to also make a claim. Which by their policy, the divorce decree, and state laws he was clearly NOT entitled to. They continued sending the same nonsense letters we are reviewing your documents. Then tried to say we had to agree how to divide it bc they didnt know who the rightful claimaint was or go to court which would cost ME more money. Then they tried to sue me in federal interpleader court and take over $14K in attorneys fees. After repeated calls, they finally said it was turned over to court, and they withheld the info by not telling me when or where court was going to be. They could not discuss an ongoing case, then lied and tried sneakily getting a default judgement saying I was served and did not respond. After a few months, I found an email in my spam folder from their attorney about the pending default. So I called around and found the right federal court division and asked if I had signed any document for proof of being served? She said no, and you will need an attorney to help submit a motion to set aside and a response immediately because its on the docket for default. After another year of back and forth with attorneys they kept trying to get us to agree to a lower attorney fee, then have the court decide between me or the ex husband. Eventually they completely dropped out. Ultimately with an awesome attorney- I won the case and midland and the ex walked with nothing! No way they are still rated A+ with no less than one complaint a month. Read the complaints and reviews, they seem to have a history of deceptive practices, and many vulnerable people just cant fight back. Stay FAR FAR Away!Midland National Life Insurance Company

Midland via phone call with my agent and myself assured us that there were NO hidden fees that would cause my annuity to decrease in value. HE LIED. Now Midland is stealing two thousand dollars per year and refuse to do anything about it.Midland National Life Insurance Company

My mother had her *** with them for many many years. She passed away in August of 2023 and because one of the beneficiaries has disclaimed their portion because they did not want to take the distribution it is now July and the payment has been unduly delayed. I understand from my contemporaries that other companies actually assist people in getting the claim paid promptly. Midland National has made the process unreasonably difficult and their actions have resulted in my loss of income.Midland National Life Insurance Company

Terrible. Dont work with this company. I have a 403B that needs to transfer out. It was a variable rate and they dropped my rate down and wont raise it. Ive been trying over a month to get my money transferred to another company and they are refusing to release it. When you call them They put you on hold indefinitely and keep giving a message, your **** time is longer than 20 minutes. This message repeats over and over. I am totally disgusted, and will never do business with them again. Ive been calling for days, no luck getting through.Midland National Life Insurance Company

5 starsI'm giving 5 stars to BBB, for having a site to help someone make the right choices. Because after seeing these reviews about Midland Life Insurance. I surely will Not be dealing with them. My heart, goes out to these people, that have to go through such a hard time. For all the money they had already put in. And get no results. And I'm sure there are many more people going through this. Just don't take the time, to leave a review. But, I am thankful for the one's whom do. $185 was taken out of my account today and I called to ask about it because it's normally only 11.17 a month the lady said she couldn't talk to me because it was associated to my husband's account, but I pay his payments and I am on his account. So I can't know why you took money from me? Makes no since to me. I had to wait on hold for more than 30 minutes to even talk to someone.Midland National Life Insurance Company
