Today 12/09/24 I went into urban talent to meet with a representative about their work. They went over the contract but wasn't well explained compared to reading after the appointment. So as of today 12/09/24 I would like to be off of the contract but dont know what to do.

To address Ms. ******** complaint, we would first like to point out that individual appointments with prospective talent (such as Ms. ******* are typically ***** minutes in length, if not longer. During the time of the appointment, the Director goes through all of the contract paperwork and expectations thoroughly. Ms. ****** was able to ask questions and seek clarification at any time during that appointment or after. Once Ms. ****** signed her contracts and left, no representatives at Urban Talent heard from Ms. ****** regarding any issues. ********************* (the agent who met with and signed her) did not know there was any issue until it was brought to her attention that Ms. ****** left a BBB complaint. Had Ms. ****** directly contacted her Director, or anyone at the agency, it would have been much easier and quicker to come to a resolution for her. Urban Talent still plans on finding a satisfactory resolution for Ms. *******

On Thursday, May 25th, 2023 at 11:30 AM, I was influenced to sign a modeling contract with Urban Talent modeling agency. The terms of the contract were not fully or clearly explained to me. A couple of hours on the same day (May 25th, at 1:21 PM), I sent messages as well as a voicemail after the agency did not answer me, and tried to cancel the contract with the signing agent. She would not allow me to rescind the contract and informed me that I will have to pay the mandatory monthly "training" fees of the contract no matter what, which in total amounts to $2,000. On June 5th, I emailed the agency notifying them that my contract is rescinded on the basis that no payment has been made and no services have been rendered. On July 10th, I got a short response from the agency denying this and saying that there are no cancellations or refunds. For the next month, I considered the contract null and void. I did not interact with the agency, sign up for any of their "training," nor interact with the business, and therefore no services were rendered. I continually tried to explain that I did not want to associate or have business with the agency. To no success, they tried relentlessly via email and phone to get me to pay for a service that was not provided to me. On July 14th they informed me that they cannot accommodate requests for refunds or cancellations. However, the director explained that I was approved for a "settlement agreement" that I had to pay to cancel the contract. This settlement agreement is said to amount to $400. I responded that I did not need to sign a settlement agreement or pay anything because no services have been rendered, and because I tried to rescind my contract the day I signed it but they did not allow me to. On July 17th, I got response back from them stating that my monthly "training" fees have been sent to collections. Now I have been contacted again by some random salesperson in their scheme, pressuring me again to pay the settlement.

Be for warned this is not a booking agency this is a "training" school not a booking agency. As well as according to the *************************** their registration is withdrawn/not active. They have numerous fees in their contract some they disclose to you and some they do not. They also are in violation of **** state code 13-21-6 through 13-21-8. When I asked if I could have a day or two to think about this the agent told me I most likely would not have a spot from which I felt pressure. If you are thinking of signing please be aware of your rights and never sign anything the day of.

      To Whom it May *******
What ********************* does not understand is that in fact our business Urban Talent Management is an agency.  ********** is responsible for providing casting and audition opportunities for talent and works off a commission if those talent are booked on projects. In fact ********************* signed two separate contracts for two separate companies. The first contract was her representation contract for castings and bookings.  The second contract was with a separate company for her training and development. Each contract is specific to what the company will provide to the talent and what the talent are to provide to the company. There is nothing hidden within any of the contracts itself as that is the sole purpose of having a contract.  The **** Code listed by ********************* has no application to the contracts provided and signed by **********.  Even if ********************* felt a pressure to sign she is given every opportunity to make a decision for herself. Tell us why here...

I was invited in to talk to a modeling agent, and was quickly walked through a contract while they flattered me and had me sign this contract in order to start modeling for them. I went home that night and had a bad feeling, and read some of the fine print, and realized they were asking me for significant amounts of money with no guarentee they would get me bookings. I then called a few days later and asked to me released, I had not received classes, taken headshots, or received any other services beyond the initial meeting. They are now harrassing me, telling me I owe them $1,000 to be released from this contract, regardless of the fact that I have not received any services yet.

**************** was signed by our Director in ***** ***** on October 12 2022.  She had willingly chosen to sign a representation contract with the agency that states the agency will be her representative for castings and bookings and provide audition and casting opportunities for her.  Because there is always an audition process there is no guarantee that a client books the talent.  However our agency works direct with a training and development company that was to provide **************** with the opportunity to learn and develop her skills in modeling and commercial acting.  Learning and developing those skills gives the talent auditioning a great opportunity to book the job from the audition because they know what to do during the audition.
Within the first six days of her signing her contract she had already been contacted about her upcoming development and training opportunities.  On the 18th she was provided information from our Director in helping her get prepared to submit for a casting.  That evening *************** did express her second thoughts which were addressed the following morning.  It was determined that **************** and our Director would be meeting later the week to provide additional assistance.  In addition to that it was determined that **************** was going to stay under contract and have a payment lowered. This conversation is attached.
**************** did then reach out to our contracts department providing none of the information that she agreed to with the Director.  She went back to stating that she needed to cancel her contract.
**************** was given the opportunity to utilize the services provided and did not accept them.  She was also given an opportunity to continue to work with our company but instead chose not to hold accountability to her contract she signed. Nor to what she again agreed upon in conversation.
Offering a settlement is one of best options that **************** has available to her. It is clearly stated in the contract that she agreed to about the cancellation policy and being offered a settlement in fact gives *************** the best opportunity to settle out of her contract that she herself agreed to.
