On June 1, 2023 I called TriGuard Pest Control to cancel my account. The customers specialist advised me to send an email to them giving them a 30 days notice, he looked at my account saw that I had been a customer with them for ***** and 4 days, there were no charges or upcoming services and he assumed all will be closed and handled well. On June 4th I received a call from TriGuard saying they needed to come out to my property and check the bait boxes to see if they could be repurposed for $75 or I could do one more service at a discount rate of $125. I declined and looked at my contract and saw that there is actually a note on the contract that states the agreement is only for 12 months. I sent an email explaining my first call and what I saw on the agreement only for them to keep insisting they need to come out to my property for a $75 bait box fee. They are saying that once the agreement was over I moved into some kind of month to month basis and owe them the $75. This information is not in the agreement and I don't see why I am being held liable for it.

Company will not allow cancellation wothout charging either a full service fee if you cancel within 30 days of a service appt or $75 bait box removal if you cancel any other time. I've been waiting to cancel this service since it started, but there is a clause in the contract that you'll be responsible for 75% of the annual fee regardless of the reason for early termination. They left wasp nests above my garage, failed to remove sticky traps during the qtrly, and the person who did the initial service didn't service my crawl space or clean the spider website around the lights like they said they would do. I still have insects and spiders around my home. Their service hasn't made a difference to justify the cost and they obviously know it by having such a ridiculous cancellation clause.

Hi There, we are sorry for the frustration. We always have our satisfaction guarantee that we will always come and take care of the issues that customers might have in between services. The cancelation fee is to cover the expenses that we incur in servicing the home the first services. We do have everything stated clearly in the contract and we strive to have that clearly understood but obviously need to make some improvement there. Is there anything we could do to help you to have. better experience with us?

I am rejecting this response because:

There is nothing that states in the contract that there is a cancellation fee. The contract states there may be a fee for removal of bait boxes. Your organization has failed to perform the service outlined in the contract starting with the initial service when your tech failed to treat spider activity or place bait boxes in my crawl space. I've waited a year to cancel because of this contract, I'm not paying another cent to your fraudulent organization.

      Sincerely,

I received an email 5/4/23 advising a service date of 5/9/23 had been scheduled. I phoned them immediately to cancel my service/account because of a change of finances and was told that I would be contacted. I received a callback advising me that because I didnt cancel 30 days prior I would be charged for the service anyway. If they are going to force me to pay for the service then Im going to have it done. BUT IT IS NOT RIGHT!!!!! How can you cancel it before 30 days prior when you dont even know its scheduled? They dont give the next appointment date to you when they do a service. They email you a few days prior to the service. I just want it cancelled and not charged. Thank you.

      Hi ******,

We are sorry to hear you're still upset. Please be aware that pest control is expensive to preform, and much of the cost is eaten up in the preparation for the service. Especially when you factor in license requirements, product purchase, technician training, and ultimately the route and scheduling planning we do before each service. You had signed up for a subscription service (every 3 months) which is why you got the services for such a discounted rate.

This requires a subscription service agreement to assure you get the high quality service you deserve. Obviously this requires a certain level of commitment from both of us. Unfortunately this also means that cancelling the services only a few days before a treatment (after much of the planning and investment has been made on our part) makes it extremely difficult for TriGuard's system to run smoothly which is the only reason the service agreement stipulates giving a certain amount of 'heads up' before cancelling the subscription service.

We would love for you to be a satisfied customer, and will happily answer any more questions you may have if you reach out to our ************* Specialists at ************.

      Sincerely,

      TriGuard Pest Control

We canceled our service November 2022 and received a phone message on 03/23/2023 stating this company would be coming out to service our address. We called Triguard and informed them of the cancellation in November of 2022. The representative informed us per our signed contract we would need to pay a cancellation fee. We have never signed a contract and when we asked for a copy of our signed contract we were told they could not send us a copy. The following day we received another phone call from Triguard wanting us to pay the early cancellation fee. We told them we cancelled in November of 2022 and they insisted we pay a fee. We told them we never signed a contract and would not pay this fee. We were told we would be billed for the early cancel. I explained to the representativee we canceled last year and he stated per their system we only canceled for that month. However, the last time we received service was the summer of 2022. They continue to call baggering us to continue service or pay up. We do not owe them any money nor did we sign a contract.

5/20/22 Company showed up at my doorstep selling their pest control services and told me my condo HOA was aware and approved for them to solicit us. I ended up agreeing to being charged $125 x2 quarterly with $99 for first time and have paid them approx $379.37 for two quarters services. After two quarters I opted to cancel my services approx 12/10/22 and was told there was a cancellation fee of $187.50 for two remaining quarters which I debated wasnt told to me when I started the services by their salesperson. They declined to waive the cancellation charges when I contacted them and they said the salesperson no longer worked there. I also let them know my HOA reached out to me and never actually gave them permission to service my building since we have a contract already through the **** Triguard also never disclosed there was a cancellation fee when I agreed to the services verbally and only send you a copy of the agreement in email after you sign.Im asking for a billing adjustment of $187.50 for cancellation fees of services never performed. Hi *******,

We apologize we haven't responded to this till now; this has not previously been a monitored avenue of communication. Please reach out to ************ if your complaint has not been resolved yet.

We want to make sure you have a good experience with TriGuard and that your pest control needs are taken care of.

Please understand that pest control can be pretty expensive, with most reputable companies charging around $300 for a one-time service. We try really hard to offer our customers affordable pest control by breaking up the cost over the course of a year, with the understanding that we will be able to finish the agreed upon services. You were given a big discount wit that understanding. A service agreement like this obviously requires an early cancelation fee, or it would be an unwise business practice for a company to give discounted services at less than cost. Thats why the early cancelation fee exists in the first place, because it allows the company to provide better discounts to the average consumer.

We would love to finish the service agreement for you and do all we can to take care of your pest control needs.

Unfortunately, if this is not an option for you, and if you still want to cancel our services early the early cancelation fee applies, and there is nothing we can do to waive it.

I wanted to cancel service with this company. I was informed that there will be a charge per signed contract. Requested a copy and my signature was "forged", and dated 8/5/22.I informed *** that I never sign the form. He was going to do research and came back saying document is properly signed. He more or less accused me of lying!!! I have a text message with *** (employee) on 8/6/22 that stated that since I was not home on 8/5/22 that my crawl space will be checked next quarter on the 20th. I do not appreciate being accused of lying!!! I received a bill for $172.50. My account #*****. Phone #************. for Triguard. I paid for the three services they've performed.

The bug guys came by around July 2022 and sprayed for for ants, [our only problem]. I called because ants were getting worse instead of better. This had only been like 3 weeks. They sprayed for ants again for free and a week later I now have ants in the house. I called and told them I wanted to cancel anymore spraying. She informed me that since I was cancelling early that I would have to pay a fee of $300 and something. She said we signed a contract, I thought it was for the payment for service. No mention of a contract at that time. They also said there was no obligation to there service !

I received a solicitation to provide pest control services in May. At the time I had an insect issue that needed addressed. I hired this company to treat my house for mainly spiders. It made it worse requiring a call back. After the 3rd time calling them back to do there job correctly I still received no resolution. I canceled my service and was billed $281 for an "early cancelation fee". This place is a scam and should not be aloud to conduct business.

I am rejecting this response because: nothing was resolved and the response was obviously ridiculous. After canceling this service I have purchased my own insecticide, applied it myself,  and have had no more issues after the first application. Still not sure why after 3 times triguard couldn't take care of the insects but a $40 jug from Costco worked instantly? I was scammed bottom line. This company is a joke and is selling a service they are not able to execute as advertised.

I hired Triguard Pest Control in July 2022 from a door to door salesman, to treat the interior and exterior of the home for pests, mainly spiders. They have been to our home twice since July. We had a mild exterior spider problem prior to their first visit in July. Since then, the spiders have tripled and now we have spiders inside our home, which we didn't have prior to their visits in July and Aug. They have charged me $168 per visit, now totaling $336. On 9/12/22 I called to tell them I was dissatisfied and I wanted to cancel service. They told me I cannot cancel or I will be charged 75% of the contract fee (5 visits at $168 each). They made no effort to make me a happy customer and come treat again, but insisted this is the worst spider season they've ever seen. I do not want them to come back to our home, they've made the spider problem worse. I want out of the contract and or my money back. This company is a fraud.
