Our builder recommended Staub and Sons, in order to install an underground propane tank. Earlier today, our builder had obtained a written estimate for the installation and testing of the tank for approximately $10, ****** but he informed me I would need to contact Staub and Sons in order to establish a customer account.Upon contacting ********************** and Sons, I spoke with "******" who told me I would have to apply for a credit account in order to finalize the transaction. She promptly emailed me the application and upon reviewing it I saw that it was a credit application that would authorize the company to automatically withdraw funds from my account for propane refill services only. I told her I was currently not interested in any refill services and I was only interested in the installation of the propane tank. Additionally, I told her I was not interested in financing any aspect of the project and was willing to pay cash for the tank installation. After being placed on hold several times I was ultimately transferred, without explanation, and the line disconnected. Upon calling them back, ****** stated she would have her manager (***) call me back. I have yet to receive a call back from a supervisor or representative of the company.I recontacted my builder and he stated he spoke with ******* and recommended that I give him a call regarding the matter because there must be a misunderstanding. Upon speaking with ****** he stated the company did not do cash transactions and that "we won't make any money off you, if you use one of our competitors to fill your tank." He continued to say that if I did not elect to sign up for the refill program that they would not complete the installation.Despite having a written estimate, dated 02/18/2022, that reflected it was "valid for 30 days" he refused to honor the estimate despite the fact I was willing to pay for the installation with cash."Bad business" and customer service.*** Daily

We do not withdraw from any funds without a written form, we do not sell tanks to customers that threaten us to use other competitors, competitors do not have tanks right now as they are difficult to come by, so they are sending their customers to us for tanks, he stated to ****** that he had no intentions of using us for propane services, thus no tank sale, he only stated that he hadn't made up his mind until we would not sell him a tank. Which I feel is good business practices on our part. FYI, If i order tanks today I would not receive until spring of ****, that explains why we are careful of our sales, we have to take care of OUR customers. Use to get tanks in 6 weeks.

No threats, it should every customers option to utilize the provider that provides the best service, has the friendless demeanor and does not attempt to strongarm folks into certain services they may or may not want.I have since received an additional quote from a competitor and the exact same parts, labor, etc. were approximately $2,300 less. And guess what? Absolutely no, we wont provide you the service we quoted you if you dont sign a contract that mandates you to only use our refuel service. Since my original review, coupled with my experience with a friendlier, less expensive competitor, it further solidifies my initial review and opinion.To anyone out there considering using Staub and Sons, I would do your homework first. It paid off in more than one way for us.
