I deposited a check issued by other big bank at local old 2nd bank. But bank clerk and customer service told me I won’t be able to withdraw the funds that I want for another 10 days. A check deposited to the bank, it is either un-sufficient fund or good in next 1-2 business days. Definitely it Is not acceptable to be partially available. In other words, bank limited my ability to access my money.Old Second National Bank Response

Today, 8/19/2023 at about 11am, I stopped at the Old Second Bank in ******** to make a deposit. My kids have been saving their change, so I decided to deposit into our saving account. The only way to deposit change at the bank is to use their change counting machine. I have had the machines short count me before. I noticed it awhile ago and have always counted my change before depositing it in the machine. I even deposit the change slowly so that it has a chance to count each coin individually. I put 5 dollars worth of quarters, only quarters and the machine counted it as $4.80. When I mentioned it to the staff, I was told "it is whatever the machine says." At that point I stopped putting coins in the machine and just deposited the $4.80. *************** who spoke to me was very rude and said he was not going to empty the machine to count the coins. I never asked him to do that. I think it is ironic that a bank has these machines in all their locations and they are almost always wrong. And by wrong, I mean always undercounting the change in favor of the bank. He said the machine might calculate the number higher than what is actual entered but in my experience that never happens. I am not even worried about the 20 cents, I just would like for some auditor to count the machines to see how much the bank is shorting their customers. I am confident, it would only take one or two tries before the auditor experiences the same short count total that I did today. Does the bank have to report this extra money or do they just get to keep it? If that wasn't bad enough, 3 of the 4 employees in the branch kept saying "it is just a machine, that is how it goes." "Just like any computer they can make mistakes." I beg to differ, if the calculator on the computer made mistakes, people would stop using it. Jewel grocery stores have a similar coin counting machine that never makes counting errors. I think Old Second is happy with the under counting of their machines.Review from David M

I was also a customer of ****************** bought by Old 2nd. I was quite pleased with the customer support provided by ***. I am 71. Of all the banks I have used,Old 2nd is the worst. There is no on-line help. The 'Chat' takes days to get an answer. Both the 866 or the 630 support numbers "are not available at this time." The *** (now Old 2nd) branch is 1/4 mile away. Nice. I am starting to look for another bank to switch to.Review from Vinny L

I have been banking with ****************** for 15 years and when they sold to Old Second National Bank they 100% sold out their customers. This is the worst experience I have ever had with a bank. There online banking is absolute GARBAGE, when it shows a pending transaction that should be taken out of your available balance. Not one day take out all of those from your available and make you go negative!!! You are hurting people financially and you have no answer to fix it. i hope your company goes down hill just like you are making your customers do. Another thing they did was close my wife account without my permission and will not reopen it. I will 100% be leaving this dog c*** of a company and leaving all the negative reviews i can so they hurt for business! No one should go what my family is going through and many more family's are going through because of your lack of caring for customers. If I could leave negative stars I would.Review from John L

Worst Bank Ever since they took over WSB! I Have had nothing but issues especially with online banking. The format, functionality and chronological order is backwards. E-Bills constantly fail and do not pay and I receive no response to support messages in regards to the issues. Was a faithful customer to WSB for 30 plus years. OLD ********************** BANK has failed miserably in less then 5 months. Will be moving my to another bank and recommend anyone to steer clear of this institution.Review from James W

Old Second Bank fumbled the pass when they acquired West Suburban Bank.I can't say thet they did anything unethical or illegal, but EVERYTHING I tried to do was a major project. Business as usual was easy at WSB, where I banked for 45 years. Starting April 25, 2021, Old Second Bank took over. Since then, every transaction has been a chore. I think the owners of WSB "sold us out" when they turned over my accounts to Old Second Bank.Review from Cora C.

Absolutely the worst experience Ive ever had with a bank. Am only there because of the merger with ******************* where I have been a customer for 40 years (formerly ************* Difficult to reach anyone by phone, having been cut off several times when on hold. If by some miracle you do speak to someone they wont be able to help, only promise a return call (still waiting..). No answers on their 02 banking site (still waiting.). The probability of moving my two personal checking, savings account, home equity line of credit, as well as my business account is more than likely inevitable.Review from THOMAS J

02 Recently acquired ****************** and I am insulted at the lack of commitment to customer support during the transition. I was a West Suburban customer for over 35 years. As a result of the takeover, I was froze out of my account, was told I could not get a final account statement as the transition / cut over period occurred at the end of the statement period, and could not access critical transaction records. All that O2 could provide was the current balance. No information as to any credits or deposits was retained. Customers were told on-line **** pay would be back to normal on the 25th but at the close of business O2 was still telling customers accounts were still being processed. I am amazed some regulatory group would not insist and insure a smoother transition. Needless to say, In my opinion the transition team should all be fired for the poor performance, nothing to say about the lack of customer support or sympathy. I would rate them a zero if that were an option. Needless to say I will be moving my banking to another institution. Just thought people should know.
