    Dear *** ******,

Re:  BBB Case # ******** - Response to Your Complaint

I am writing in response to your complaint filed with the Better Business Bureau regarding your experience with ***************** Corporation and Overland Bond & Investment Corporation. We take all customer concerns seriously and appreciate the opportunity to address your situation.

Firstly, I would like to acknowledge your purchase of the vehicle on August 30, 2019, and the financing arranged through Overland Bond & Investment Corporation. As a long-standing participant in the vehicle retail and financing industry, we pride ourselves on our rigorous processes to ensure that all documentation submitted by our customers is valid and accurate. This includes thorough verification of identity through government-issued identification, such as your Illinois drivers license, as well as cross-referencing personal information with your Social Security number. We also conduct employment verification and check references to confirm the information provided is legitimate.

Additionally, we utilize GPS monitoring on every vehicle we sell, further enhancing our ability to track the collateral responsibly. These measures are in place to protect both our customers and our business, and we adhere to them diligently.

Regarding your loan situation, I understand that you made payments from August 30, 2019, until January 30, 2021. However, after we contacted you on March 10, 2021, we were informed that you would not be making any further payments due to the vehicle being involved in an accident and being declared a total loss without insurance. While we empathize with your circumstances, it is important to clarify that the loan remains the customer's responsibility until it is fully paid. Our collections team explained this to you, and we regret any misunderstanding that may have arisen from that conversation.

Your claim of identity theft appears to be an attempt to absolve yourself of the financial obligations associated with the loan. It is essential to note that our records indicate all documentation was verified and valid at the time of your vehicle purchase. We take identity theft claims very seriously and would be happy to cooperate with any investigations by the appropriate authorities if you have evidence to substantiate your claims.

We value every customer and strive to maintain transparency and fairness in all our dealings. If you have any further information or documentation that you believe supports your claim, please do not hesitate to share it with us. We are committed to resolving this matter amicably and ensuring that you feel heard and respected.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I encourage you to reach out directly if you would like to discuss it further. You can reach me at ************.

    Sincerely,

The date that this issue started was June 30, 2022. I pay this finance company $236.40 every 2 weeks however I was not able to make payment on June 24th and called and asked for arrangements, the reps as well as the managers are extremely rude and the manager screamed at me asking, "Why don't I have the funds, where is the money". They would not accept my arrangement and disarmed my vehicle from being able to be started/driven which caused me to miss 3 days of work, because I had no means of transportation. Those 3 days totaled over $500 which could have been 2 car payments. As of today I am 13 days late with my payment, I reached out again today, July 7, 2022 asking for an extension and I was told no, asked if my car could be turned back on because now I'm paying for rides to and from work which I could be putting gas in my own vehicle. Basically told no, not until payment is made. This company is extremely rude, no professionalism, no compassion and unwilling to work with me regarding my payment. I currently live in ***** and was hoping I could get assistance with filing a legal court claim against Overland Bond for their actions.

    Business Response

    Dear *** ******,
My name is **** ******, and I have recently assumed the role of President at Overland Bond and Investment Corporation. I wanted to take a moment to personally address your complaint regarding your experience with our collections team, as documented in BBB Case # ********.
First and foremost, I would like to express my sincere appreciation for your business and commend you on successfully paying your account in full as of October 9, 2024. We understand that managing finances can be challenging, and we are grateful that you chose to work with us during this time.
At Overland Bond and Investment Corporation, we pride ourselves on being a subprime lender that aims to help individuals establish or re-establish their credit. We recognize that our collections process can sometimes feel overwhelming, and I apologize if our teams approach came across as pushy or unprofessional. It is always our intention to communicate with our customers in a respectful and supportive manner.
I want to clarify that the ignition interrupter is a tool often utilized in subprime lending. While it may not be ideal for every situation, it allows us to take calculated risks while providing our customers with the opportunity to rebuild their credit. Our goal is to facilitate second chances for individuals who may have faced financial difficulties in the past. Many of our clients have successfully transformed their credit histories with our assistance, and we are proud to have built lasting relationships with them.
If you felt that our collectors were rude or dismissive during your interactions, please accept my sincerest apologies. We take such feedback seriously and will ensure that it is addressed with our team as part of our ongoing commitment to customer service excellence.
We value your feedback and would like to improve your experience with us. If there is anything further, we can assist you with or if you have additional concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out. You can contact me directly at ************, or feel free to speak with any member of our management team.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. We appreciate your business and hope to continue serving you in the future.
    Warm regards,
    **** ******
