In early November-2024 I was approached by the sales representative by e-mail who pitched a specialty online live seminar in banking and finance for $1500, taking place in early December-2024. I paid by credit card, and the transaction was processed by a UK entity, incurring additional foreign transaction fee charges. Two weeks after making my payment, an individual called **** **** reached out, and explained that the seminar in question is postponed to May-2025. I requested the refund, and **** **** denied the refund. The rationale for denying the refund was that it was, de-facto, an instance of re-scheduling, not a cancellation, and , according to terms and conditions, the entity ( Marcus Evans) can re-schedule as they please, in perpetuity, without ever delivering the value or refunding their clients/customers. I filed the case with ************************, *************************** and got my bank involved to recover the funds. Even though the entity refused the refund, their pathetic sales agents keep bugging me pitching more events to buy, very cynical. My bank worked with the police and finally reimbursed the seminar fee plus foreign transaction fees, so I was made whole by my bank. I encourage all the victims of this scam to file complaints with the local ************** in *****************, with *********** (UK Police) in the ************** , and the ****************************** to stop these scammers from defrauding innocent American public.Initial Complaint

I was contacted two weeks ago for this CNO Summit. The business states they are supplying a free registration to you, but you have to put down a credit card in case you cancel. They state you will receive confirmation when your application is approved and to not book travel or hotel before receiving confirmation. I never did. ************************************************************************************************** writing. Phone voice mail is all I am able to get to and no one has returned the calls. Two of the numbers are non-working numbers. This is a scam. I do not want them to charge my card since there is no follow-up on the registration acceptance and they put additional cost for delegate fee that when asked about, I was told that's part of what is covered. Attached is the agreement that ****** misrepresents the charges. I will not arrange travel that is not going to be refunded if they have not confirmed or cancel, and the summit is supposed to be in 8 days. In their agreement it states that if I do not attend, they will charge my card the whole amount and delegate fees. I never received the confirmation that I am accepted to attend so that agreement is null and void. I have blocked them at my bank from charging the card additional charges.Initial Complaint

In December 2023 Marcus Evans advertised an in-person training to me to occur in February 2024, which I signed up for paid the $3000. One month before the Feb 2024 date they postponed (presumably due to lack of enough participants registered) until June 2024, which was with sufficient notice. There was zero follow up leading up to the June date, so I assumed since they canceled previously with notice the training was happening. I booked nonrefundable flights and hotels to attend. I had to email several times and even call to receive any response. Finally, 4 days before the training date they told me it was canceled. There is no planned date nor am I being given the opportunity to take a different training. In addition, they engage in the predatory practice of not providing refunds, claiming that they will hold the training at a future date. I am convinced they do this to other people as well and wait for people to forget or give up. The person I worked with was *********************. I received an email address for a senior member of their team from their operator who did not respond to my email. Shocking this type of business has let all of the above occur in writing, thinking there would be no consequences...Initial Complaint

On 5 Jan 2024, I signed up and paid for 2 attendees for Marcus Evans' ("Vendor") virtual course "Clinical Trial Outsourcing Models", which was scheduled for 19 - 21 March 2024. On 11 March 2024, ********************* from Vendor emailed indicating the March course is postponed to 25 - 27 June 2024 due to other attendees cancellation and insufficient participants. We requested a refund the same day, as the training is necessary for us before June. Vendor did not reply until I took it to social media (LinkedIn). Vendor replied on 2 Apr 2024 that the contract states "Cancellation of e-Learning Course: In the event marcus evans cancels the eLearning Course due to a force majeure occurrence, and provided the client has paid all amounts under this contract, the client shall receive a credit voucher for that amount valid for up to one year to be used against any marcus evans e-Learning Courses. If marcus evans cancels the eLearning Course for any other reason a full refund will be provided to the client."; hence, no refund will be made. We replied Vendor on 2 Apr 2024, indicating that cancelling the March session is not a force majeure occurrence but choice of Vendor. Vendor did not reply to email regardless of multiple follow-up. We are asking BBB to intervene and have Vendor issue the refund.Initial Complaint

I was contacted by this company to attend their summit. *************************** basically badgered me into signing up. Upon singing up i asked about cancellation and was told I had a certain amount of time. I called back to cancel and was asked could I make other arrangements or let someone else go. I am a contracted worker for a hospital so it is me. I work for myself. I was sick and let them know that, ******* still showed no empathy and told me I would still have to attend to I said I could possibly make a Sunday. I flew back into town from working and had to rush one of my pets to the *** There was no way I could attend this event (even sunday) due to having a sick pet, being sick myself and not having a caregiver for an elderly family member that lives with me. I have not been given anything substantial other than word of mouth. I have asked can you send me the information I signed off on and have only received a website. I am not asking to be resolved of the full amount, but I am asking that instead of charging me for three days, charge me for the one day that they agreed too. Thank you.Initial Complaint

I continue to be repeatedly contacted by Marcus Evans ** (how to add in BBB database?) - today it was via work email, linkedin and cell phone voicemail. As you can see from the linkedin contact, the Marcus Evans organization continues to misrepresent their company name (in voicemails and linked in) and partake in shifty communications even after individuals like myself have mandated they unsubscribe me and cease contacting me (e.g. by emails). Attached: 1) Evidence of today's linkedin and emails 2) prior submissions and attachments for case #********. How can a company with such shady practices continue to operate with such impunity to the law?Initial Complaint

Company reaches out purporting to have mandates from investors to find new fund managers and says they have researched **, have investors who are interested in our strategy. Then on a call they make it clear they know nothing about ******** or strategy, they just want to charge us a lot of money to attend a conference of theirs. I said no, got contacted by literally 10+ other sales people over the last several months, and have asked repeatedly for them to remove me from their mailing lists. They keep spamming us. Terrible company. It's a type of harassment. Would like them to stop.Initial Complaint

This business got me to sign up for a summit and when I notified them that due to business circumstances I would not be able to attend they informed me that there would charge a cancelation fee.I tried to be very reasonable but with no resolution. It was not stated to me there would be a possibility of such a charge and this must have been buried in fine print probably in an attempt to dupe people.I spoke to *********************** who stated her global CEO said charging me was the only resolution. I wrote back pleading and explaining the situation but she simply ignored and charged my credit card. She is not returning calls and will not provide the contact of the global CEO.
