On May 10, 2024 I had regular AC check. Technician misled me by indicating that I need change in capacitor Tradepro TP-CAP-50/5/44.He misled me by telling me that the price for the capacitor is $208 without telling me that there is labor charges or inflated charges for carrying the item. Even though I told him that I had eye surgery and cannot see he mis-represented and showed me the price which was wrong.item which cost is only $13.49 . while I was charged $208. The proof of this is provided to ALL temp by mail.Business Response

Good afternoon Sorry for the late response we have been very busy. As far as our prices , Yes we do **** them up. We have 74 plus Employees and we have a few offices as well. With the price of inflation and how all of our operating expenses have hurt us just like ever other business we have had to raise our prices. I reached out to this customer to explain this to him and he never responded. Our prices are very competitive if you were to compare us with our competitors. If anything we are actually a little bit on the cheaper side. If this customer wants under owner ******** ill reimburse him $65.00 but again what we charge is not unfair. Anyone can look up parts on the internet and say they can get them cheaper but it requires tools a serviceman and a truck to get and employee to the front door. I take pride in working at All Temp I have worked at other places where they don't care about the customer and do over charge customers. All Temp since I have been an employee does not take advantage of their customer regardless of what time of year or what the temperatures are at. Thnak you in advance,

I am rejecting this response because:It it not true that All temp did not overcharge. Tech did not inform that Capacitor is overpriced and marked for services but misrepresented that Capacitor price is what it is charged. Also tech was trying to oversell all kinds of unnecessary and unwanted items and services.
Also All temp send me only $ 50 dollar goodwill refund and not $ 65 as claimed.
Sincerely,

Again my offer stands as it was. We do have overhead and I can't do things at cost, (not sure what business can). He states he can buy this parts for $13.49 my cost is a lot higher than that. But either way We have never been the company that goes out and price gouges or inflates price. My original offer stands it is more than fair. After all said and done if I am making a profit of $75.00 im lucky at that.Initial Complaint

On Jan. 11 i had All Temp come our to check and clean my furnace. They broke it. The tech ********** came out and took apart my furnace. After 20 minutes he looked confused and kept looking at the furnace panel and calling on the phone for help. He claimed the capacitor was not working but he had one on the truck. He replaced the unit but when he fired up the furnace it would not turn over. The igniter stated but the blower would not kick in. Suddenly there was a bad burning smell. My wife thought we had a fire. The tech said the capacitor was not working and put the old one back in. Still no heat and on the coldest day of the winter. After 2 hours I decided enough was enough. I called All Temp to send someone else out who had experience. An hour later another tech did come out but all he did was put his hand on the inside and said I needed a new blower motor and he said it would take a week to get! Really? I said no way. I called another company out and they came out to survey the situation. They found that All Temp had set the capacitor on 5 mfd rating when it should have been 40 mfd. Also All Temp had the 2 speeds of the motor wited together. They had the hi and low fan speeds cut and jumped together. This tech fixed the problem and gave ne heat but said the blower had sustained significant damage. So I had to replace both my furnace and AC to the tune of $11,000. I called ********************* at All Temp and he was aware of the sutuatio. All he would offer was $550 and i didnt think that was adequate. I have called several times since, left voice mails and he refuses to call me back. We have legal standing but really dont want to take that course of action if we can resolve this other ways.Business Response

Our technician arrived for the furnace maintenance on 1/11/24 and noted the system was not functioning correctly upon arrival. During the maintenance, after speaking with the service manager, he noted that the capacitor was not within rating. At that time, it was stated to reach out to tech support. While tech support was closed and we were unable to confirm diagnosis, the homeowner called in requesting another technician come out as he did not have heat. The second technician arrived, found the blower motor had failed and called into the office to order the parts. Our technician did advise the homeowner it could take up to a week to receive the parts are he could not confirm at 5:30pm if the parts were available or not. Our parts department reached out to Lennox (furnace manufacture) the following morning and was able to procure the parts, which were indeed available. On 1/12/24 at 9:51 AM, our office manager attempted to schedule the return visit but the homeowner declined, requesting to speak with upper management. Our service manager and general manager both spoke with the homeowner about the situation and offered to reimburse the homeowner $500.00 as owner good will on a 14-year-old furnace as the homeowner declined having All Temp do the repairs. The homeowner additionally declined the $500.00 and stated he will take legal action against All Temp. At that time, nothing else was done as All Temp and the homeowner could not come to an agreement. After reviewing the file again, now with the information received in this complaint, All Temp is willing to stand by our original statement, and reimburse the homeowner $500.00 for owner good will, as there is a difference of option on if in fact, the furnace was functioning upon arrival or not. If the homeowner, on his own accord, decided to replace his 14-year-old system (new furnace & new air conditioner) when just the blower motor and capacitor on the furnace needed to be replaced, that was a decision made entirely by the home owner.Customer Answer

When I called for repair service to my mini split heat pump & air conditioning unit I was told there is an $80ish in home estimate fee. This is in direct conflict with what is on their web site. Where if you click on heating then scroll down and click on heat pumps, the very first paragraph reads, "Whether you're considering...repairs.... Get in touch for a free in home estimate today." If you hover over and click on the high lighted word repairs it brings you too HEAT PUMP REPAIR Second paragraph, "Get in touch...for...a free estimate...." HOW MUCH CLEARER CAN YOU BE?All temp's website repeatedly says they give FREE ESTIMATES, Yet when I called a lady argued, "But we have NEVER given free estimates." In business for 85 years means a lot of estimates that consumers paid for.The federal ****** Act allows civil lawsuits for false advertising that "misrepresents the nature, characteristics...of...services." The *** also enforces false advertising laws on behalf of consumers.Business Response

Good morning,
I will look into this. YES we give free estimates for replacing units but as far as service we have to charge to come out for a service call. This Customer called for a service call and was told upfront there was a charge. He later then called and canceled his service call. I tried to call this customer after he hung up on my Dispatcher but he didn't pick up, I will review our website to try and see what he is saying is misleading. For the record All Temp has never mislead or had any bad business practices and I'm sorry this guy didn't return my phone call to make it clear to me what he was talking about. Either way ill look it over myself.
Thank you,

We contracted to have a ductless air conditioner installed on our property in August 2023. We accepted the estimate and cost of project without trying to bargain or haggle for a lower estimate despite other bids. During installation however, a downspout had to be removed for the ** to drain into. This was not explained to me initially nor was it on the estimate/work order. I was told by one of the installers that there wouldn't be an alternative since space is limited and re-installing the downspout would have to be customized (** piping was in the way). Besides that issue, installation was completed in a timely manner, and I paid them immediately once the job was completed. Being the sole downspout/drainage for this particular gutter and it was compromised, it needed to be fixed immediately. I was told by the Sales Rep to obtain a gutter professional to have a new downspout installed and I would be reimbursed. I took on this obligation despite it not being "my fault" and due to the constant rain in the week and a half following the install of the ** unit, and tremendous amounts of water draining to the foundation, this needed to be corrected immediately. Installation of the new downspout was completed the week of Sept 12. Pictures and workorder was provided, and I advised the Sales Rep of the cost. I was told it would be presented to Operations. As of this writing (Nov 20, 2023) there has not been any type of contact or reimbursement made by AllTemp.Business Response

We had a new Boiler installed on Nov 9th 2022. Installation took 2 days. Our house consists of the original house and a family room; each has its own thermostat. About a week after the installation, we discovered that some of the radiators were cold. All Temp sent out 2 repairmen on separate days to ratify this problem. When we got up on Friday Dec 23rd the house was cold and found the actual temperature was 64 but the thermostat was set at 68 in the house. In the family room the actual temperature was 62 but the thermostat was set at 64. All Temp sent out a repair man and who said that the furnace was working but it was COLD outside. He raised the water temperature on the boiler from 145 to 180( the temperature recommended in the user guide). He said that this would take about 1-2 hours to work. It did not have an effect. I called All Temp again. **** took the call and, after conferring with someone, said that the salesperson may have sold us the wrong boiler. He said that the boiler was working but it was extremely cold outside and this extreme cold does not happen often. He said that the salesperson would call me. The salesperson called and said he would deliver two spaces heaters on Saturday. On Saturday morning the house temperature showed 61 and the family room showed 59. On Saturday we used fireplaces in the family room and front room to supplement the heating. Due to safety concerns, we only used one of the space heaters for about one hour on Saturday. He told me that he would call me on Tuesday. Sunday again the temperatures were 61 in the house and 59 in the family room. Again we used both fireplaces. On Monday morning the readings were 68/67 (setting/actual) house and 66/65 family rm. On Tuesday the readings were 69/68 house and 68/67 family rm I called the salesman at 2:30 on Tuesday since I didn't read from him. He said he was waiting for a call from the regional manager which would come within the hour. It is now Wednesday 1:00 PM and no responseBusiness Response

On January 1, 2021 an All Temp rep came out to clean the furnace. My wife and I purchased the home in December 2019 so we were making sure everything was up to date in the home. Unfortunately, with the ******19 pandemic, it was hard to get an appointment which is why it took almost a year. By the time of our appointment, I was able to go back to work and my wife was home to let someone in. I believe because she is a woman, the rep claimed to have cleaned the furnace but actually did nothing at all. In May 2021, the ** line continued to freeze so I called All Temp. On May 23, 2021, the rep stated that it was nothing that could be done. That rep didn't even attempt to open it up to see what the issue was. The furnace went completely out around July 30, 2022. I had another company come out on August 8, 2022. The rep determined that the furnace went out due to the blower motor and when they opened it up they found shipping peanuts, filth and they found an air filter inside the furnace. Once examining it, it was a brand that we never purchased (attached images). We hardly received packages and when we did receive packages, it never came with packing peanuts so that shows that the furnace was never cleaned after we moved into the home. I have spent around $300 trying to resolve this issue with All Temp and they have yet to resolve the issue. When I tried to get in touch with management, I have been completely ignored and given the run around. No one from All Temp has attempted to reach out to me to resolve the issue or even apologize for their mistakes. The furnace going out could have been easily resolved if they actually showed compassion and did the job I paid them to do. Thank God the furnace went out in the summer and not in the dead of winter with having two young children in the house. This is unacceptable behavior for any professional business and I want is for All Temp to recognize their mistakes and come to a resolve for a refund of the money owed to me.Business Response

On October 18th I had All Temp clean my heating and air conditioning vents (14) total. Only 12 were cleaned. I checked the vents in the spare bedroom to find them dirty. I texted the guy who had called me to say they were on their way, and he told me they cleaned those vents from the basement. I did not understand why he would say that to me when all the other vents were cleaned upstairs. Also why weren't the vents covers cleaned? I went checking around the house and found the heat vent on the back porch is dirty, I stuck my arm as far as I could and found hair, dust and crumbs. To me that should not be. I called the office FOUR times on Wednesday the 19th and TWICE on Thursday the 20th. No one called me back. Today I called my credit card company and filed a dispute. I really feel bad about this because the two times we had this company put in our furnace and air conditions, we have had no problem.Business Response

I purchased an HVAC unit from all temp heating and cooling in December 2021 they quoted me a price for a 3 ton unit which they were price matching and they installed a 2 ton . I believe a bait and switch is what they did to make up for the lesser cost of the units I only learned of the issue is when they came to do my summer start up . my unit kept running and running and running and the house was not getting any cooler after I have five technicians come out to try to resolve the problem the last technician mentioned that I had a 2 ton unit In which I explained to him and showed him the quote that I was supposed to have a 3 ton unit for the size of my house I have an almost **** square-foot house and a 3 ton unit is what is required a 2 ton unit would cool between a 900 foot and **** ft. house which made the unit too small for my house . I would have to believe that any technician that would come out and spend a few hours in my home would know that that unit was too small for my house and would have resolved it that way I have reached out to them several times about the issue . I have called to speak to a manager or owner i was told that one of them would get back to me with in the hour . That was 2weeks ago and every time I call the same answer. This process started 5/11/2022 .Business Response

The contract which this customer signed and agreed to states exactly what size system Furnace and A/c he was purchasing. He got exactly what we sold him All Temp has never been a "BAIT AND SWITCH" type business. We pride ourselves on honesty and good intentions. We sized the a/c to the customers ductwork. The method ***************** is using to size his house is if the builder was building it and had the ductwork to support this. His current duct is sized for 2-2.5 tons of a/c if customer wants to upgrade to a 3 ton system I will under owner good will policy charge him no labor just the difference in cost which is $500.00
