    I used atty ******************************* from ******* Group for my closing on my first home. I asked was there anything I had to do to switch the water, sanitation etc utilities in my name (April 2022). She replied no the sellers will handle that. Months later, (December 2022) I realized I had not received a water bill of any sort and contacted the city water **** to discover, there are no records of me owning the home I live in and in fact, was still in the name of ppl who were not the sellers, but in fact previous buyers who failed to close. I contacted the closing atty *********** and she was also surprised, contacted the ************* and returned saying, the proper document s were not submitted to the city and advised me to take documents she attached in an email to the city to make the switch myself. A week later, I get a bill backdated from April 2022 along w/ late ***************** I requested an explanation on how this happened, why did I have to make the switch and to be accommodated for late fees, penalties and a portion of the bill I should not be accountable for. ********* (closing ********************* results of the ************* and the Seller stating that its not their fault and that nothing can be done. To be clear the water bill w/ late **************** are currently $965. Doing further investigation in the closing documents regarding the water paperwork (Full payment cert) I found MORE issues ie my name isn't on it, the dates for the water inspection is more than 60 days from my closing date etc. A buyer who elects to use an atty for closing on a home buy does so to have legally trained *********** for insurances during the process. I asked was there anything I had to do for the water, my atty *********** replied "no". I was advised to take the documents to the city myself, then was not accommodated for any costs bc of the negligence of others. The "Full Payment Certificate" isn't accurate even. I received poor service and ***** replies afterwards.
