I am filing a complaint regarding a misleading lease advertisement posted online by Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM of Chicago. On April 5, 2025, I viewed an ad for a 42-month lease at $199/month with $3,600 down and ****** miles/year. I called the dealership to inquire, only to be told that the listing was a typo. I was informed the actual deal was a 24-month lease with only ***** miles/year and a higher down payment. This is a substantial change from what was advertised. This kind of misrepresentation is misleading and appears to violate the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act, which requires truthful advertising. This experience was frustrating and a waste of time, and I believe consumers deserve transparency when making financial decisions.I have attached documentation of the original ad.

I drove to Chicago and purchased a new vehicle on 12.30.2024. The vehicle I drove there to purchase had been "loaned out" despite my having made an appointment and speaking with a sales person as well as the ** every day for the three days prior. The did have another vehicle on the lot nearly identical, had not been a loaner so slightly more expensive but no miles. I agreed and after negotiation, the service manager Agreeded to honor on-line price. Several options were added including Lojac and Resistall. When I stated I did not want them, service manager advised I had to purchase them and he could not cancel them. When paperwork is finally completed 6 hours after my arrival, two additional options have been added on as well. I have since cancelled one the options added at financing and would like a refund to my lienholder for the full amount of the LoJac and ResistAll options.

The customer was satisfied with the vehicle and proceeded with the purchase. At the time of purchase, she opted for an extended warranty and tire protection. However, she retains the right to cancel these warranties if she chooses, and I believe she has already done so. Please note that any products installed or applied to the vehicle cannot be refunded, as they are now integrated into the vehicle. This was thoroughly explained to her during the purchase process.

The engine of the vehicle that was purchased is fully compromised and needs to be replaced due to lack of maintenance even though the vehicle was purchased 3 days ago. I cannot be liable for engine malfunctions that occurred within 3 days of purchase. The engine needs to be fully replaced and the vehicle needs to be towed back to the dealership to be fixed and that will be not paid by me.

The customer had a very intermittent problem with their vehicle and had asked us to try and help.  While we were in the process of working diligently trying to find a resolution to the customer's problem, she responded to a survey from the Manufacturer slamming everyone in the service department.  I called the customer and told her how I felt about her response and how it financially and morally impacts the dealership.  If the customer has a right to provide unwarranted negative feedback about us, we are surely *********** provide feedback as to how we feel about the customer.

I had the car towed from ********************** to the business location at ******************* on Friday November 3, 2023. The parking brake was stuck and could not be disengaged, and the repairs they completed were with the electrical system in the vehicle in order to disengage the parking brake. The car ran fine and had no problem starting. Repairs cost totaled $ ******** Picked up the vehicle on November 11 at ~ 10:15 am. An attendant of garage/dealership drove the car out to the parking lot, and I got into an already running vehicle and drove to **** ********************* (according to Waze 1.3 miles) and parked on the street. On Sunday evening, I was going to drive it to the grocery store, but although the electrical key fob, lights, radio and everything else electrical worked, but the car ignition wouldn't start or even begin to turn over.I phoned the following Monday morning and spoke with one of the repairmen who was going to talk with their manager and give us a call back. I never received a call back. At ~ 4:15 pm CT I phoned them and eventually spoke with the Manager and requested that either one of their mechanics drive over the 1.3 miles and/or arrange to have the vehicle towed to their garage/facility.The manager stated he was going to do nothing to assist in resolving the issue, would neither arrange for towing the vehicle to his garage nor would have someone come over and look at the issue. I have sense filed a complaint with Jeep about the dealership (case # ********), am filing this complaint with the BBB and will file a complaint with the City of Chicago and State of IL believing that Public Act 093-0565 Section 70 paragraph (8) - "Altering a motor vehicle to create a condition requiring repair" - applies to this case as it is the electrical system they altered and has created a condition that didn't exist prior. The only invoice # I see are: RO# : ***** / Tag# : ****

The vehicle was towed in with the parking brake locked up.  The problem was found to be caused by a water leak which damaged the electronic brake module.  The customer paid to have the water leak repaired and module and connector replaced, which corrected the brake issue.  We did not do anything to intentionally cause the vehicle not to start.  The customer was advised that if he brought the vehicle back to us, we would be happy to look at it and if there is an issue we caused it would be taken care of.  The customer became irate and unresponsive.  The vehicle has in excess of ******* miles.

I am rejecting this response because the vehicle was starting fine and has never had this condition before they worked on the electrical system and I only drove it less than 1.5 miles after they handed me an already running vehicle.  Although I expressed disappointment that they refused to work with me on resolving the issue they created after working on my vehicle by not either towing the vehicle to their garage and/or sending a mechanic to where the vehicle is parked, at no point did I become "irrate" and only left the conversation after the manager I spoke with stated he was going to do nothing to help resolve and rectify the issue.  I have since filed a complaint with the BBB, with Jeep, the City of Chicago, and the ** ************************ as I believe that Public Act 093-0565 Section 70 paragraph (8) which states the repair shop's engage in Unlawful acts and practices when they: "Altering a motor vehicle to create a condition requiring repair"

    Sincerely,

On September 29, 2023 I, a single mom and my 13 year old daughter entered Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Chicago located at ****************** Chicago, ** ***** I worked with the manager *****. The conversation between ***** the manager and I was understood that if I came into the dealership he would allow me to test drive some vehicles. I entered the dealership in my 2015 Verano. I test drove the 2021 Jeep Cherokee and like it. He had me fill out a credit application and I did with the belief and hopes that he would either get me a fair trade. The Jeep Cherokee was listed at ******. He changed the price and sent my information to several creditors carelessly and lied about the amount he paid me for my 2015 Verano. He tried to explain to me I had negative equity in my 2015 Buick Verano, but he reported to the creditors my car was worth only the amount I owed. He admitted to lying to the creditors about the trade in value of my 2015 Buick Verano so he could make a profit. He changed the price of the Jeep Cherokee from what was advertised. He charged me ***** more than the 2021 the Jeep Cherokee. I explained to him I was very uncomfortable, yet he not only continued to pressure me to trade in my vehicle, he invited another salesman over and used fraudulent sale tactics to get me to sign. By this time my daughter was crying and both ***** and the sales manager were making my environment hostile. Because I felt like a hostage and the salesman and dealership manager would not let my daughter and I leave gracefully. I signed the papers and went home. I realized I never received copies of my signed documents. I felt even more immediate uneasiness. I headed back to the dealership at 9:00 am September 30, 2023. I asked to return the vehicle because of the fraud of the trade in. I was with my 13 year old daughter. The manager ***** explained the only way he would trade me back my 2015 Verano and take back the 2021 Jeep Cherokee was if I paid him $5000. He explained how much money it cost him the night before to change over my title and license plates. I told him I didn't have $5000. He said he could not help me and if I needed additional information I needed to wait for the creditors to send me a bill and to talk to the creditors. I asked for the corporate office contact information and he refused to give me a corporate member to contact.

The statement that you are stating is completely incorrect, you purchased a vehicle knowingly what the price was and had a trade in that money was owed to a lienholder which we paid off.  All the numbers was disclosed on the paperwork and you signed off on it including a retail purchase contract, copies were giving to you at the time of sale.

June 1, 2023 I notified Jeep Cares that I had an issue with the soft top on my new 2023 Jeep Rubicon. I was driving down the highway and the passenger side window panel of the soft top blew out. There was a car behind me that spun around and went into the ditch. The window panel did not hit their car, but they swerved to miss it. I pulled over to check on the driver that went into the ditch. As I was parked along side the highway, my jeep top was still in tact at the front of my Jeep up by the front windshield but I could tell there was something wrong with the top portion. As I tried to fold the top back into place above the back tail gate I noticed if was bent. I realized at that time that the light grey lock was also stuck in place and would not unlock. I dont think the top was initially installed right from the dealership. I am attaching some photos of my Jeep the night that I picked it up from dealership on Feb. 14, 2023. You can see in the photo that there is a pucker in the top corner of the passenger side panel. The back window casing is also not seated properly and you can see the exposed plastic component that is supposed to be snapped into place. In hindsight, I can see this is what contributed to the issue of the side window blowing out. The correct soft top instructions were not included in my Jeep manual when I purchased the vehicle.I returned the broken folding top component to the dealership and they responded to me via. Phone after a few weeks. They offered to replace a bar and another smaller component on the soft top, but not replace it in its entirety.I am willing to return all the remaining components that I have, with the exception of the side passengers panel that blew away in the wind. And I would like a full refund of the total cost of the soft top. Given the initial installation was not correct and the current soft top has been stressed in the incident, I will not put it back on my Jeep.
