I used the services of Xpress Tax Appeals ( (Xpress Tax Appeals by the Taxpayer Advocate Group LLC) to appeal my property taxes the last three years. The agreement was to appeal with no upfront fees and only split the first years gross savings after a successful appeal. On April 17, 2023, I received an invoice for $1223.13 (Invoice: #*****) for the successful reduction on my property tax appeal in 2022 for $1223.13 (Invoice: #*****). Because I did not have any problem on my two prior appeal services with TAG, I paid in good faith, and then I realized that my taxes had increased to almost double the prior year. I wrote an email to request a refund of the money. There were no reductions in property taxes as the appeal claims were not successful, therefore there was no successful gross savings to split with TAG. I sent them emails and they expressed no intention of refunding my money. As a consequence, my mortgage payments increased $600 a month, due to the large tax raise on my property. I'm requesting for ***** support and intervention for TAG to refund my money and I would like to inform BBB about the unethical and fraudulent practices of this company.

Please take a look at the attached printout directly from the Assessors website showing the values, too.

The documents show the values clearly.

The client is basing their grievances on previous years and tax cycles, which is simply invalid.

2022 is the year, and those are the values used.

****** is not our client either.

She's the wife of the contractual party in the agreement.

Per the BBB guidelines, I would also like this washed from our account as this person is not a legal party in this transaction.

Dear BBB and Taxpayer Advocate Group,

    Complaint: ********

I, *******************************, and wife, **********************************************, are rejecting this response because TAG's reply was not helpful nor did they clarify the issue.

TAG (Taxpayer Advocate Group) agreement with the clients: (******************************* and **********************************************) is that we will only pay if there is a saving from successful appeal on our property tax. Please take a look at the attached file.

Notice TAG (Taxpayer Advocate Group) stated in the Q&A page the 1st installment is usually due by March 1st every year and is comprised of 55% of the past years total tax bill. The 2nd installment is billed by August 1st. Any reduction obtained through the appeal process will be reflected in the 2nd installment. Please take a look at the attached file.

Meaning if there are no savings, there should not be a fee charged by TAG (Taxpayer Advocate Group) to us. This proves we were erroneously billed $1223.13, and we request a refund that was paid through my wife's personal checking account. Furthermore, if my wife is not considered a client of TAG, as they stated, they should not have taken her money in the first place. My wife and I are expecting TAG to do the right thing.

You can verify the above information for yourself, the property address is ******************************** (PIN: ******************* in the ******************************************* link HERE: ************************* .

See below the history report of the years 2021 and 2022 of the property tax statements:

    2022:

    First was installment was $3,287.50
    The 2nd installment  was. $4,581.18

    2021:

    First was installment was $3400.83
    The 2nd installment  was $2,576.44

I *********************************, I'm filing this complaint (# ********), along with my wife as joint owners of the property.

    Sincerely,

    **********************************************
