We had a minor rain last Friday March 8th and I had water coming down my fireplace and leaking through the recessed light above it. I called several places and no one was available, except for these guys... now I understand why, no one gives them work. The kid showed up without a ladder to get on the roof so I had to put pots to collect water like a frontier **** man all night to save my wood floors. The next day they showed up and told me it costs $3500 plus $350 to show up and I accepted. They wrapped up the work in a few hours and gave me a five-year warranty. All good and dandy, not so fast.Today is the Thursday March 14th and we have more rain, and to my shock I have more water coming down not only from the same spots, several more spots also leaking. I have pots to collect water again and I'm baffled what did these people did or actually didn't.I started calling *** and his son *** several times to no avail. They are not answering my calls, texts or voice messages asking for a full refund to have someone competent come and fix this mess. So I called the credit card company and filed a dispute as I'm not letting these boy scouts get away with it.

Unfortunately, the customers review is partially true. Not only did we text him back but we called him several times to offer our apology and to schedule a time for my guys to come back tomorrow morning between 10 AM, and 12. The customer did not want to hear it and just wanted a complete refund. I explained to him that we could not give him a full refund because we did the work but we were willing to uphold our warranty and come back and fix it.

      Complaint: 21432223

The owner's response is not accepted. I would not want him or his crew anywhere near my house after the botched repair and more damage caused to my unit and the unit below. Competent workers are the cornerstone of any business, and this is not "partially" true. It's just true.

The notion that I'm reneging on my contract is ridiculous to the point of being offensive. I'm having a hard time understanding what do I stand to gain by asking for my money back? NOTHING - I sill have to find someone competent to have it fixed, and that will not be your team. Therefore, I'm asking for a FULL refund... perhaps you should recover the loss from those who put you in this position and direct your texts elsewhere.

      Best,
      *************

Im sorry but we cannot give a refund based on the fact that the work was already completed. I am willing to send my guys out even today to make the necessary repairs given that I highly doubt that the leak is coming from our repairs but were willing to extend the scope and make any necessary repairs to stop.

I am rejecting this response because:

You owe me for wasting my time, putting unqualified folks on the roof while your son had his a** parked in the truck, blocking the alley for 3 hours.

This is my best offer: you give me a $2,800 refund, and this is not negotiable. You have my email, ***** would do... your son didn't do much, the two poor laborers with no direction deserve $400 each.

I do not wish to continue this conversation again - this is as far as we go. Hope this would be a ********* but I always aim too high.

The business was hired to do a complete roof tear off and replacement. Work began August 28, 2023, site was abandoned October 4-7. Work was never completed and over 600K in damage to the property. The business is not a legal entity in the State of ******** or City of Chicago. The roofing license number they advertise on their website belongs to the brother ***************. Chicago Roofing Services *** nor Chicago Roofing ************ are registered companies. They are using deceptive advertising and lying that they are a licensed, bonded, and insured company. The owner ********************* were sued by the City of Chicago for FRAUD. This is a company that needs to be SHUT DOWN. They are not qualified, nor insured to carry out work on homes or commercial structures.

      Business response

      01/27/2024

We were contracted to perform a complete tear off of the roof and completed the project. There is a remaining balance due of $50,000 and once we realized that we were not gonna be paid, weve voided their warranty and refused to work with the individual owners to make any interior repairs. Our insurance company has denied their claim because of open roof policy. There is nothing more that we can do as long as there is a balance due and has yet been paid. Their warranty is void.

      Complaint: 21203754

I am rejecting this response because: I appreciate the response that you abandoned the job because you realized you were not going to get the final payment.  On 09/30/2023 we sent you a copy of the Roof Inspection Report citing all the items that needed to be corrected.  You have in writing once those errors in craftsman ship are corrected the Association will make the final payment.  If you want paid do what you said you were going to do.  You never attempted to correct any of the errors.  Since the installation of the roof there have been leaks from the poor installation.  On top of all the damage you caused to the building and being improperly insured to cover the damage that your crew caused you are operating a fraudulent company.  Your company name leads consumers to believe you are a registered business in the State of ********.  Chicago Roofing Services **** is not a legal corporation in the State of ********.  Your court case with the City of Chicago Case No: 22M1450092 from August 26, 2022, you are using deceptive marketing practices.  You are a fraud and not qualified to perform the services you are advertising.  Which is a testament to the damage you caused to the condominium building.  Lying stating the roofing project was completed on September 25, 2023, when the elevator room was not even started along with several feet of termination bars missing from the roof.  Flashing around vent stacks, etc. You are not a legal roofing contractor.  The license number you had posted on your website and the one provided was for your brother.  You not only do not have a valid roofing license for your business you don't have a contractors license.  You have misrepresented to consumers to be an incorporated business in print and advertising.  You are not incorporated or registered as a business in the state. You have left the building with over $600,000 is repairs.

      Sincerely,

      *************************

      Business response

Im sorry to hear that you rejected my response, but its only the truth. After the job was completed, you had come up with a list items that you thought needed to be corrected. We tried on several occasions for approximately one week straight to go into the each individual units and current and the drywall work and other repairs. Even you said that some of the owners were exaggerating, the amount or the extent of repairs needed, you owe us $50,000 Im pretty sure based on what was done and what you think is needed should cover the cost of the minor repairs needed. And just so you dont know you no longer have a a warranty with us until you accept the $50,000 going towards all repairs.

      Complaint: 21203754

I am rejecting this response because:  Sorry that you did not like hearing I rejected your response.  Since you are focused on the "truth" of the matter.  You should be focused on the fact that your crew damaged a building because they are not qualified to do roofing.  You advertise your company as Chicago Roofing Services **** (Co.).  You are not a legally registered business in the State of ********, yet you advertise that you are.  When you provided the Certificate of Insurance it lists Chicago Roofing Services.  Yet that company is not qualified to do business in the state.  ******** you had working at the building had knowledge to complete a job of that scope.  As you can tell from the report of the roof inspection.  NOTHING WAS DONE to the National Roofers Contractors Standards.  NOTHING.  You claim that your company is part of NRCA.  You are not.  You posted a license number from ***** which you stated belonged to Chicago Roofing Services.  It belongs to *********  Not Chicago Roofing Services (not a legal company) You claim you have tried to correct the issues caused by your crew.  You did nothing of the sort.  You were trying to cover up your damage and exit the property before more damage was discovered.  Every time I called you with an issue you stated ****** would meet me there.  I met with him six (6) times.  It is apparent that while he may work for you, he is not qualified in the trade to be running any project, much less licensed to do so.  You state you know the damage is not that bad.  We provided you with the remediation and repair cost from BluSky Restoration.  The totals speak for themselves.  The damage is extensive.  I told you in the last email and I will say it again.  Fix your errors that are documented by a Roofing Professional, and you can get paid.  You have been paid $75,000 to this point.  The final payment was promised to you on September 25th when you lied to me and the ***** of ********* stating, "all work is complete".  You can see from the roof inspection on the 27th that was a bold face lie.  You had a section of the roof that was never touched.  You had missing termination bars, you had part of the rolled roof that was loose or not sealed.  Yet you claim to be the victim here.  If you can't see why the final payment has not been paid to you then I suggest you look at the damage you caused to the building, the poor craftsman ship and install work that was done.  I want this to stick "NOTHING" was done to national roofing standards.  NOTHING!  Since your job we have had two roof repairs needed for leaks.

You are not a registered company in the State of ********, you are not licensed to do roof repair or replacement, yet you go around advertising that you are qualified.

      Sincerely,

      *************************

Well, I believe the insurance company made a clear that You are not covered for a Open Roofs. If youd like, Id be more than glad to send my guys out to try to repair the issues that you brought to our attention previously in an attempt to satisfy all parties. After we make the necessary repairs, I want to reinstate your warranty and discuss applying the balance that is owed to us to the repairs that I needed. Thank you.

I used their services to fix roof, replace gutters and add leaf gaurds to the gutter. They did this on June 25, 2020. They said they have a 4 year parts and labor guarantee. Since their installation the gutters have all leaked. They have not drained correctly or at all. The gutters have disconnected several times, the gutter guards are not corrected right so I have ***** nests in the gutters and they come detached. I have over 200 messages with them over the last 2 years trying to get them to fix this. They have come out over 10 times but have yet to correct this. At this point they are not coming out to their set appointments and ignoring me. I want my money back so I can have another company fix their work. I paid $3,775 that I want refunded. I have all of our documented conversation and pictures of the non work over the two years. For supporting documents I can submit all of our conversations and pictures of the gutters. I'd like to resolve this with a BBB arbitration vs taking this to court but that is my next step.

Good morning, yes we have been out several times attempting to repair the gutters either by resealing or refashioning and re-pitching we were scheduled to come out last month and several occasions but due to the excessive rain we were unable to make any repairs. I am willing to send my guys back out to make the necessary repairs  as soon as next Saturday. Unfortunately we dont issue refunds and projects that are this old but I am willing to send my guys out to make the customer satisfied. Thank you very much

I am rejecting this response because: you have cancelled 2 times with no explanation and they have not been rainy days. If you can fix it by the end of the week July 17, 2022 which would inclue no leaking, appropriate draining, secure leaf guards (remounting all gutters so they actually drain down spouts, reattaching all leaf guards) then this can be resolved. Otherwise I'd like to move to arbitration for a refund so I can get another company to do this correctly. The 2 years of improper draining is causing water damage to my house and taking too long to remedy.

      Sincerely,

After paying $30,000 for our roof, we discovereda shingle in our gangway. We called ***, and after supposedly sending someone out he said the shingle was not from our roof. We foolishly believed him. When we found some water intrusion in our newborn daughter's room upstairs, we sent another contractor up to the roof, and he snapped the attached pictures of this company's shoddy work. First, they didn't even bother to shingle one side of our dormer, something we never would have known about if someone hadn't gone up to inspect it. On the other side of the dormer, shingles were indeed falling off. Finally, as you can see from the photos, these guys used the old flashing around the chimney. The caulking is bad and they bent the flashing while installing it. When we tried to get them to fix these problems. We simply got the run around. When I said I'd be filing this complaint, *** said he could care less.

      Business response

      08/22/2021

We did in fact go out initially and none of his shingles were missing or damaged - period!  After the customer called us again we sent our guys and showed the customer that the flashing around the chimney was in good condition and didnt need to be changed. The customer persisted that he wanted it changed and we agreed as well as installing shingles on one side of the dormer.  We agreed to and will go out to complete the repairs.  I tried explaining this to the customer but he keeps threatening us with involving the BBB. Thanks again for your help in this matter.

      Complaint: 15786412

I am rejecting this response because the issue with the flashing still has not been resolved. After we filed this complaint, we spoke with ************* at Chicago Roofing Services Aug. 24 and they agreed to come out Aug. 25 to fix the damaged shingles, replace the old shingles, and replace the old aluminum flashing with new aluminum flashing. They did come back on the 25th and do additional work on our roof. The damaged shingles appear to have been fixed and the old shingles replaced. We appreciate this.

However, in a phone call later that day, ********** acknowledged that instead of replacing the old aluminum flashing with new aluminum flashing during their Aug. 25 visit, Chicago Roofing Services had replaced the old flashing with what they referred to as modified, which they described as polyurethane membrane dipped in rubberized asphalt.

We considered this and determined that we still wanted the new aluminum flashing as originally agreed upon and they agreed to come back the following day and install it. Still later the same day (Aug. 25) we received a text message from ********** saying the reason they had opted for the modified is that the mortar on our chimney is damaged. He then reiterated that Chicago Roofing Services would be back to address the issue the following day (Aug. 26). On Aug. 26 we received a call from ********** saying Chicago Roofing Services wouldnt be able to remove the modified without a ***** because the base of the chimney is compromised in some way. He said he wanted either himself or his son to be present when the work was going on and that would not be possible that day (Aug. 26), so the work was on hold.

We understand that ********** is dealing with an illness in the family and want to be respectful of his timetable. We appreciate that the damaged shingles have been fixed and the old shingles replaced. However, no one from Chicago Roofing Services alerted us to any damage to the mortar on the chimney prior to using the modified. We were not consulted on whether to apply this treatment -- which we did not request -- to our chimney or warned that removing it could carry risks. We are unwilling to close our complaint or accept Chicago Roofing Services response until the issue with the chimney flashing is resolved.

      Sincerely,

      ***********************

      Business response

      09/20/2021

Yes, I mentioned to the customer that I would send my guys back to wrap the chimney unfortunately there is damaged mortar and they would need to contact a ***** first to fix the chimney then we can go back to flash the chimney.  Thanks
