5/23/24 I brought in a used car I had just bought that day. I was told by the seller it needed an alignment and ac recharge.I noticed that the gas pedal felt squishy, so I asked if they could also look at that.Next I was quoted the price for the alignment. Then, he explained that before the ac can be recharged, they first do a maintenance check, and the price for that. He said it would be done by the end of the day the next day. I got a call the next day to say I needed new rear brakes, at a price way out of my budget, so i declined. He then said that they started doing the Ac recharge, but realized I need a new compressor, which would be over $800, which I also declined. I got there around 3 that day, and my car wasnt ready until 6:15. I had worked all day so I was tired and starving, and I was upset because of hearing that ** going to need a lot more money than I have to get my car in working order. After I get in my car, I realize I was charged $530.08. For an alignment. I am a single mother of 2 kids, I am barely even able to keep my lights on, and a large amount of the little money I have was just spent on only an alignment. The website states that the ac maintenance check looks at the pressure check system, checks the compressor and clutch assembly, and inspects the belts and hoses. Why was the recharge performed when the compressor was supposedly checked? I paid $199.95+ $19.95 for Freon for nothing. Next, I was charged $74.95 for a visual brake inspection. I would have never had the brakes looked at if I knew that, and this fee was not mentioned during the initial work order like everything else. Here is what I did agree to. $134.95 for an alignment, $49.95 for an ac maintenance check, and a fee for shop supplies at *****. Without tax, that totals $211.62. Being charged $530 and leaving still needing all the repairs is not right. I tried resolving with the store manager, but never returned my call after our conversation even though he said he would.Business Response

My name is ***** ******** On Friday August 18 around 3 pm, I went into Dobbs located at**** ************ ******** ***** ************ *** *****, phone number ************, I walked in and told the Dobbs Representative , "I want two new tires and a wheel alignment, However I want you to check the van first because if the tires and wheel alignment are not the cause of my front end shaking, I DO NOT WANT THE WORK DONE. The representative said ok, one hour later, I was called to the counter and was told Mr Berryman we couldn't do the wheel alignment because you need upper and lower ball joints. Your new tires are on your van.... I said, WHAT! I don't understand , you knew I needed upper and lower ball joints on both sides , and you continued to install new tires on my van? He said Yes, your bill is 350.00. I'm upset, however, I'd just finished working , tired, argued a short while, paid and left. I told the tire rep to give me back my old tires, because I did not want to leave my old tires, they were only a few months old, (well one of them was the bald spare, the other newer one was in the back of my van because I was trying to isolate the shaking.) I am writing to you hoping that you can conclude, as I did, that these are deceptive practices on Dobbs behalf.they installed tires knowing there was an issue after being told,DO NOT! I would like my old tires put back on, a full refund and a record on file of their actions, or some form of resolution for Dobbs deceptive practice behaviour . Oh did I mention , they charged me for disposal, I had to drive back and make them give me my 8 dollars back. Thank you for listening ***** ******** ********** ************ **** ****** ** * ******* ** ***** **********Business Response

I went to Dobbs because my traction service stability track light came on. They said they fixed it but my truck continued to jump. I called them and they told me to bring it back the next day. I took it back and the guy told me there were not enough workers to work on my car. I had an accident due to this. I called them back and explained what had happened. He told me to bring it in and now he is telling me it is my brake pedal. I asked him why didn't he tell me this the first time. So now I feel like he is lying to me. I just want my money back from them.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: they are lying. I came back on the next day. I call back the same day. So the guy told me to bring it in which was 1/14/23 . When I went on on 1/14/23 the guy turn me around stating his mechanic was not available so to come back next week. I’ve had an accident in the car do to them not fixing the problem. By the part not being fix it makes ur car jump and stall while driving. I after the car got fix from the accident which took almost two months I then took the car back up there for them to say it’s the brake pedal. Well if the brake pedal why u charge me $300 for a part I don’t need . U didn’t tell me it was the brake pedal when so called fix it. They are lying !! At the point I just want a full refund
Sincerely,

Brought my car in to be looked at because the car was making a noise when turning left thought they did something wrong when they did my shocks and struts. When I called and told them this they said it could also be my sway bar or ball joints. Then when I brought the car in 05/17/2022 I told them what it was doing again and the conversation I had with the person on the phone. Later they call and tell me nothing is wrong with the front end other than the rotors being the wrong size and that could be whats making the noise everything else was fine to. then bring it somewhere else to tell me it is the sway bar. I call dobbs back and tell them that and they tell me the other place is probably just trying to get more money out of me, but the other place didnt even charge me. But dobbs did, to tell me the wrong thing wrong with the car and what is wrong with the car is fine.Business Response

This is **** with Dobbs Tire and Auto. I am sending this message in reference for the complaint filed by *****************************. I have reached out to the customer and tried to resolve the issue. We still stand by the findings of our inspection. When the vehicle was brought into our facility the issue stated was a noise when turning left. When the vehicle was test driven no noise was heard. We then proceeded to inspect steering and suspension and found no issues with the steering or suspension components at that time. On further inspection of items that could cause a noise concern we saw that the rotors on the front of the vehicle were too small and the brake pads were not sitting flush with the surface of the rotor but instead were sitting above the lip of the rotor. This was the only item seen during our inspection that could cause a noise like we were told was happening. After our inspection I have been informed by ****** that she had two other shops look at the vehicle and they have told her that there was no issue with the brakes on the vehicle but instead that the sway bar was the issue. It was at this point that the conversation reached an impasse, because if the other shops inspected the vehicle and saw nothing wrong with the brakes, I cant put any faith in anything they say because the problem was painfully obvious. Being as that this complaint is all over $30.95 I have decided to refund the checkout charge back to the customer. This is being done to close the complaint and save time for all parties involved.
Thanks
