I hired this contractor, *****, per a referral to complete a partial bathroom renovation. The cost of this renovation was $3,900. The agreement was verbal because it took him over a month to send a contract. He emailed it on Jan 9, 2024, at 8:10AM. The contract is dated Dec. 21 though work began Dec 13th, 2023. Nonetheless, he asked for a HALF-PAYMENT of $1700 via Zelle on Dec. 23, 2023. I sent him the payment the same day.Issues began to arise soon after the renovation became underway. There were many instances where he was a no-show, his assistant contractor came to the site HIGH, and the workmanship was poor. The installed shower tile has sliver cuts and a 1/2 grout line at the ceiling. If the ceiling is not straight, you change the up and down layout so you don't wind up with sliver cuts. It looks like the small tiles were a PITA and he decided to skip them on the other wall. The diagonal herringbone floor tile was cut poorly. Cuts disappear at the lid and are unacceptable. It looks like amateur hour. IT GETS WORSE...The assistant was left to grout the floors. I chose Black grout which requires skill to lay. It's not the other colors. The bathroom looks like a grenade of grout exploded. He spread grout all over the walls, the door entry, and my recently refinished wood floors outside of my bathroom. Grout is on casings and jambs, 4ft above flooring! My entire tub is covered in grout. My toilet, radiator, and sink, are all covered in grout. A good installer knows that surfaces need to be protected! It looks like he tried to mop the grout on. Thats how thin he spread it everywhere. He should NEVER be allowed to touch a grout float again! He also poured the wash buckets IN the drains!!! He poured it down my tub, toilet, and basement skin! GROUT AND THINSET CAN ****** UNDERWATER AND CLOG THE ****** I now have to spend about $3.6K to hire another contractor to fix the damages, not including plumbing work or refinishing my hardwood.

I am rejecting this response because:

the response does not give an accurate portrayal of the issue at hand.

However, a refund is not needed from the business. Our business together has concluded. But, I would like to ensure that the complaint was received by BBB and is reflected on this business's public profile. This was the intention of filing this complaint.

    Sincerely,
