I am writing to bring to your attention a distressing case of auto fraud that demands immediate public awareness and action from Sunrise Chevrolet. The victim is a 64-year-old disabled woman with limited education, entrusted her life savings to Sunrise Chevrolet in the hope of purchasing a reliable vehicle. Unfortunately, what followed was a series of deceitful practices that have left her financially devastated and without a functional car.- She purchased a vehicle from Sunrise Chevrolet that breached the warranty of merchantability, with no proof of a pre-sale inspection.- The car was advertised at $5,986 but sold to her for $6,291, without her knowledge, effectively stripping the value of her $500 trade-in and pushing her entire budget to its limit.- Within six months of purchase, she faced a litany of repairs including replacement of four tires unfit for the vehicle, wheel alignment, gasket valve cover replacement, suspension repairs, catalytic converter replacement, TCM replacement, and coolant hose replacement.- Despite a subsequent inspection by Sunrise Chevrolet in October 2023, which identified necessary repairs, crucial issues such as inappropriate tires and significant mechanical faults were inadequately addressed. This case is not just about one consumer's unfortunate experienceit exposes a pattern of exploitation and negligence that demands accountability. She like many vulnerable individuals, relied on the integrity and professionalism of Sunrise Chevrolet, only to be tragically let down.

***************************** purchased a 2013 **** Focus with approximately ******* miles from Sunrise Chevrolet on June 21, 2023, for the sum of $7,000 all taxes, license and registration and fees included.   Any age, disabilities, education, or financial situation was not disclosed or inquired about on or about the time of sale.  No of those factors are considerations when selling a vehicle, unless financing is required, (age, education and employment can be required on a credit application).  The vehicle was inspected before it was offered for sale and is clearly disclosed on the Carfax that was provided to ********************** (she also signed it).  I included a copy of the repair work order prior to sale, as well as our internal inspection sheet.  Sunrise repaired an inoperable horn, a trim piece for a head lamp, wiper blades, rear taillight, installed new front brakes and adjust rear brakes.  At the time of sale, there were no concerns of major repair; tire tread depth was measured at 6-7/32mm for both front and back (most new tires measure at 10/32mm, recommendations for replacement are at 4/32nds).  Even the brakes measured above minimum requirements, but we replaced the front brakes anyway.  ********************** was also given a 6mo. / 6,000-mile powertrain limited warranty that expired 12/21/2023, at no cost.  The customer had a complaint about check engine light that came on shortly after she purchased the vehicle however, the repair was not covered under the powertrain warranty.  The Sunrise service department sublet the repair to a local exhaust shop that diagnosed the vehicle as needing a catalytic convertor and paid the majority cost of the repair ($450 from Sunrise).  Several months later, I received a phone call from ********************** where she experienced a transmission concern (I'm going by memory; I don't have notes to the exact concern), and she spent most of the lengthy conversation telling me that we sold her a bad car.  At that time, I offered for her to visit me in-person, and I will make an offer to buy the car back for more than fair market value, she never called me back or came to visit (to my knowledge).  After that conversation, she reached back out to our UC Manager, ****, and complained again about the problem.  Since we are not a **** dealership, we do not have all the diagnostic equipment for every brand.  However, we have a good working relationship a local **** dealership and recommended she bring it there, we also paid the diagnostic fee of $170.  Hawk **** performed an inspection and replaced a transmission module (that was covered under a recall).  Since that time, my Used Car Manager, nor myself have heard back from **********************.  We in no way declared that the 10+ year old vehicle with 130k+ miles was "like new" or would be problem free forever.  According to the Carfax provided, it suggests that this vehicle was well-maintained, and our mechanics inspection was good, other than a few nominal repairs.  Sunrise has an excellent reputation, we don't usually keep and sell older vehicle with high miles, unless they are exceptional for their age, that is why we also confidently provide a 6-month powertrain warranty...it is to provide a customer with confident protection.  I believe that we (Sunrise Chevrolet), have provided ***************************** support beyond our agreement to sell a used vehicle and we have provided numerous options, including service payment plans, discounts for repairs, financial support (by sharing costs of repairs), a powertrain warranty and finally an offer to purchase the vehicle back above current wholesale market value.  All of these offers remain open if and when she is willing to discuss further.  I can be reached at ************.  ********************* General Manager Sunrise Chevrolet

I bought a 2014 hondai Elantra on 7/28/23, warranty 6 months for motor and 6 months for power train and I took this car back several times because there's ticking noise coming from up under the hood. Took it to hondai and they said the lifter's in the engine are bad. It is still under warranty. I can't afford the fixtures. Sunrise Chevrolet stated they were not going to fix the problem or reimburse me although it's under warranty. Please help!!!

Mr. *********************** purchased a 2013 ******* Elantra, on July 28, 2023.  Our records show that **************** declined to purchase a comprehensive *************** Contract (VSC), that was offered at the time of purchase.  Sunrise Chevrolet provides a 6 month / 6,000-mile powertrain Limited Warranty with every qualifying purchase at no additional cost to the customer.  This warranty does not cover the concerns that **************** outlined in this letter.  I have looked at our service records, and other than the used car inspection that we preformed prior to the vehicle being offered for sale, and one unrelated visit after the sale, (that resulted in a Sunrise goodwill repair of the master cylinder, $720), it does not appear the **************** has ever returned for any service concerns, vehicle inspection, oil change, etc.  It should also be noted that **************** defaulted on an IOU to Sunrise for $200, with no attempt to repay.  I have attached the signed ****************** Warranty that was given with the purchase of the *******.  We welcome **************** back if he would like to have an inspection performed and repair diagnosed.  If the repair is covered by the warranty, only a $100 deductible would be required by *****************  If the warranty does not cover the repair, we are happy to provide an estimate that the customer would be 100% responsible to pay.

I have also checked Carfax for any other service visits to other dealerships, and there were no other recent service visits showing on the report.  We understand not all dealer transactions, (i.e., sales, service, etc.), are reported to Carfax.  Sunrise Chevrolet believes we have lived up to our obligations as a respected dealer.  If **************** chooses to return for an inspection or repairs, we will discount customer pay repairs if applicable.

Around March i purchased a vehicle from sunrise chevrolet it was a 2007 trailblazer ss i spoke to a sales man name ************************* he had explained to me that the vehicle had to go through "inspection" in order for him to sell me the car and if it didnt pass the inspection he would not be allowed to sell it to me. He then said that he HAD PERSONALLY drove the vehicle and it drove perfect no problems! He had mention it had some issues nothing related to engine or transmission. Service deparment gave me an inspection sheet with about 4 things wrong on vehicle "small things" the sales person had also called me and said "engine and tranmission" are in good condition no problems. Once i got the vehicle home the shifter was stuck it would not come out of parking until the button on the side was pressed. 2 weeks after some fluid leak was going on by the transmission then truck would not shift properly, steering wheel is losse "everywhere when driving" they would always give the "manager busy" "manager left" or "its a used car" .. a month after it was drove in for oil change when i recieved the inspection sheet from same dealer "everything that was mention on previous inspection sheet from same dealership that was wrong suddenly was fixed" my trucks was never inspected since day 1 they sold it to me just as they got it as trade in truck was sold to me with bad rack and pinion, trans assembly, bad oil leak, cv axle bad, and transmission shifting bad also suspension is bad i had to pay $365 to another ***** dealership to tell me all does problems where going on not to mention GM told me to get it inspected in order for them to help me. Now they dont wanna help me or rembursed me my $365 that they suggested to get. Vehicle needs more than 2k in repairs. The manager and sales guy of sunrise knew they where selling me a vehicle with all does problems and did not care. How did they give me 2 different inspections sheets with different information?? They didnt inspected at all!

****************, We are very sorry to hear that you have had mechanical issues with this vehicle.  When you first discovered this vehicle, we strongly advised you against buying this 2007 Trailblazer for these very reasons, this exact vehicle was deemed to be wholesaled, not retail.  We sold this vehicle to you, only at the request of one of our previous employees that happens to be your relative, and with the understanding this this vehicle was to be sold "AS IS". without warranty or guarantee.  Sunrise Chevrolet does not make it a normal practice to sell older vehicles.  Our regular pre-owned business plan is to sell vehicles approx. 1-7years old, and usually under ******* miles, with the option to purchase an extended vehicle service contract.  We have found throughout the years, that some of the older cars can trucks can be problematic, and unpredictable.  I am happy to discuss things further, at your convenience over the phone or in-person.  Sincerely, ********************* / General Manager ************ - *******************************
