I paid 475 $ for ****** of Windy city home inspection to inspect the home I was planning to purchase at ******************************************* inspected the home and found no safety issue especially in the furnace room.I closed on this house on August, 7th and received my boxes from August, 15th.Even though, I didn't move in right away, I went to the house regularly to open the 402 boxes we had received.I noticed a gas smell in the furnace room that remained despite the regular ventilation of the furnace room.I called the gas company on September, 5th. They considered it a safety issue and sent a technician right away. He tested the apparent pipes and found several leaks. He turned the gas off and told me I had to call a plumber to test all the piping, find all the leaks and fix them before the gas could be turned on again.I called a plumber who gave me an estimate of 750 $ as a starting pount.I reported the issue to Windy city home inspection on September, 6th.They told me their company had subscribed a 90-days warranty with ***************************** (RSW). I just had to file a complaint with RSW and they would get back to **** filed a claim and finally got a claim number ******** on September, 13th.I haven't heard from RSW since then.I have tried calling them several times and waited patiently over the phone, even asking to being called back but I could never speak to a representative.I couldn't wait any longer and asked a plumber to come and fix the leaks so that the gas can be turned on again.So here I am, on September 21st, still unable to move into my house because there are several gas leaks that have not been detected during the home inspection. On top of the home inspection fees, i will have to pay minimum 750 $ to fix the gas pipes of a house I have not lived in yet.Mistakes are human and that's probable the reason why windy home inspection subscribed to a 90days warranty. They could have selected an insurance company with better customer service.
