We reserved a room at the Clarion because of hockey tournament arranged through my son's team. The hotel lobby was fine, the employees were fine as well. As soon as we walked into our room, there was a huge cockroach on the floor. We walked back out and asked for another room. The next room appeared cockroach-free but had clearly been smoked in. I went back to the front desk and asked if they had smoking and nonsmoking rooms, I was told they do not, but she gave me a bottle of "smoke eliminating spray"-so this must be a normal issue. We were with a group and everyone had similar issues. The hotel is "under renovation", my neither of my rooms were undergoing renovation. The shower was disgusting and I had to put a hand towel on the floor of shower to use it (I didn't think I'd need shower sandals!)-it was stained yellow and gross. Some people had no hot water. My son and I slept fully clothed (hoodies on!) on top of the bed linens. There were water stains on the ceiling in the bathroom, everything was in need of serious scrubbing. In the morning, we were told we could check out before 11 and only be charged for that night. We checked out and were given receipts for our one night of stay. Monday morning, I was updating my account and see that they charged us for the first night and then went through and charged us for the 2nd and 3rd nights we were staying there. While we were checking out, one woman (unknown to us) checked into the hotel, returned 5 minutes later and checked out, saying she could not stay there. Did they charge her for her full reservation, I wonder? This place needs a health inspection, even the renovated rooms are shoddy and un-clean.
