    Date of transaction is 5/14/2023 Business name is A Moment in Time (Estate sale) In *********, ********.It was the last day of the sale so everything was 50% off. My husband and I purchased approximately $160.00 (after discount approximately $78) worth of items which we had picked out from various rooms of the house. Because we couldn't possibly carry all of the items we chose and they didn't provide baskets, we asked if we could put our items down in a location that would be safe from others digging through and possibly buying our chosen items. They gave us a spot to put everything. We continued to shop and picked out a few more items. At checkout, my husband had noticed that one of his bags of items was no longer in our pile. It was a bag which was marked $20 and contained several miniature vintage pencil sharpeners. He collects them so he was excited for his rare find. When he asked the older woman who was adding up our purchases, she pretended to not know what he was talking about and said she hadn't seen the bag. He said that's fine and paid for our other items. When we were walking to our car, my husband said to me "I know what happened to the bag of pencil sharpeners. " He said "they took them" he said that when he put them with the pile of items we put down, he saw the younger woman pick up the bag, and start searching through them and whispering back and forth with the older woman who was adding up our items. And then they mysteriously disappeared. So she lied when she said she hadn't seen them. And they took the items away from the sale so that we couldn't purchase them. How terribly unprofessional and deceitful. They were priced just like the other items we purchased. They tampered with the sale and basically stole from the family that was trusting them to sell their items. That was a very shady thing to do. We will never attend an estate sale run by A Moment in Time Estate Sales again.

    I checked with our staff that was running the sale. They said you did put the bag down however it sounds like another customer grabbed it and that *** have been the young person you saw going through it. We try to encourage people to pay for items and out them in their car instead of in a holding area because when it gets busy this can happen. I can also assure you that my staff didnt steal them and they arent in need of pencil sharpeners. Its never kind to accuse people without proof. I also did review the register cameras to see if someone else bought or took them but I didnt see them. I do apologize that they item got misplaced or moved and I did request that when the clean out team is cleaning out the house to look for them and if we do find them I will contact you and mail them to you at no cost. Hopefully this helps resolve your concerns and I do hope I will be able to call you later this week with those sharpeners

    I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

    I don't want to argue, he's lying. He wasn't even there. I'm done with this resolution, but I don't agree with it.
