They installed our fence last August 3, 2024 and contacted them last Sept. 7, 2024 about the deformities of the gate and some of the fence. I attached some of our exchange emails indicating that they will stop by but until now they didn't show up.Business Response

Hello,
Thank you for bringing Mr. ********** concerns to our attention. We have discussed the issue regarding his gate with him. The gate was constructed using pressure-treated pine lumber, which is a natural product known to expand, contract, and warp in various ways. As such, we do not provide a warranty for fences built from this material.
In an effort to assist Mr. ********* we offered to build him a new gate as a gesture of goodwill. However, due to current business demands, we have faced challenges in fulfilling this repair promptly.
We appreciate your understanding and are committed to resolving this matter as soon as we are able.
Best regards,Rey Hernandez

Our entire experience with American Standard Builders has been terrible. The only bright spot was how nice ****** was during the first phase of the job.We were quoted a fair price and we even negotiated to have lattice installed for under our deck included in the price. The original estimate for the install was 2-4 weeks. It ended up being over 8 weeks before we had the fence put up and I really feel like that was only because of me constantly messaging ***, the owner. There was never communication about the delay unless I reached out myself, multiple times. The fence looked great when it was first installed, and they had to come back another day to install the lattice. They were in such a rush when they came to install the lattice and it looked horrible. You could tell they had never done this before and we ended up having to come out of pocket ($550) to get another contractor to come and fix it for us.Now less than a year later, there is significant cracking along each of the posts that are near our concrete sidewalk. I reached out to the owner and he responded that he would take care of it. It's been months and I've followed up with him through messages and calling with no response. It is costing us $3,000 to fix the sidewalk surrounding the cracked fence posts. The company that is helping us fix this issue notified us that the fence posts were not properly reinforced and that they are being held up by a crumbling dirt mixture. I have attached a photo for reference below. At this point, we may need to pursue legal action since we have not heard anything from American Standard Builders.Business Response

Dear Mr. ****** We acknowledge receipt of your complaint regarding the sidewalk. We want to clarify that we were ready to address any necessary repairs. However, the decision to outsource the work was made independently. As such, we do not agree with being held responsible for the full replacement costs. Thank you for your understanding.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:The business owner stopped answering my phone calls and messages so there was never an attempt of a resolution. Which is why we got the sidewalk repaired on our own.

Hi *****,
Thank you for your message. It appears there was a lack of direct communication on your end, as we were contacted through a platform we no longer use. By the time we responded, you had already decided to outsource the work. Given that its been two years, please let us know what specific actions you believe would resolve your complaint.
Best,

Contract #**** dated 2/13/2023 committed to install fence on my residential property. Amount paid in full $9,200.00. Fence installation was completed and paid for on 4/8/2023. Contract warranty states repair or replace defects of improper material or workmanship for no charge. Contractor had to come back week of 5/1/2023 to reset 9 posts with concrete and re install east gate which was not opening and install 2x4 to fence panels to stop warping which was not completed. Notified contractor by text message and by telephone conversation on 5/8/2023 of another improperly set fence post and more problems with the east gate and sent pictures of how the gate was "out of square" and was not closing. Sent pictures on 5/11/23 of bent hinges. The contractor came back to my residence before the end of the week and I showed him the problems with the gate and requested that he install new hinges that were not bent and weld them to the metal post and to install the last 2x4 in the northwest corner of the property which was not completed yet. I asked if this could be completed before the end of the month and he agreed to that time frame and all the re work that was to be done. Called contractor again on 5/23/23 and once again outlined by text message a list of the necessary repairs and contractor stated he would do the warranty repairs on 5/25/2023 and did not show up or call. I called the contractor the morning of 5/26/23 and he told me he would call me back that afternoon to reschedule and I have not heard from him as of today. I had sent registered letter on 5/30/23 notifying contractor that I would take any necessary steps for compliance of our contract warranty and have no response from the registered letter as of today's date of 6/23/2023.Business Response

Dear Mr. ****** We appreciate your feedback and understand your concerns. We made multiple visits to address the issues you identified and took additional steps, including covering material costs personally, to ensure your satisfaction. At the time of your complaint, we simply requested additional time to complete the work, as we were experiencing scheduling delays.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:My contract with American Standard Builders dated 2/13/23 states "American Standard Builders will repair or replace at no charge, products or parts that proved defective because of improper material or workmanship."
I am attaching the letter I had sent via certified mail to his address although I never received confirmation of receipt (see attached). He told me he would return to repair the gates and other problems on 5/25/23. I have not heard from the owner or anyone from his company since then.
I had reported this to the Better Business Bureau and he did not respond to the BBB per the letter of 7/24/23 which is attached.
I also had notified the District Attorney on 3/4/24, which is attached as well.
It is apparent that American Standard Builders has no intention of honoring the contract to provide warranty repair service of their faulty workmanship.
Sincerely,

Hi ****,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns. I want to clarify that we were not intending to be unresponsive; we simply needed some time to ensure every detail was addressed properly. I've dedicated nearly two weeks to fine-tuning everything for you.
Let's discuss how we can move forward together. Is there anything specific that requires our attention? Your feedback is important to us, and I'm here to help.
Looking forward to your response.

I am rejecting this response because:*** *********,
In your response to the Better Business Bureau, you suggested that you intended to honor your warranty and complete the necessary repairs. However, it has been one year and nine months since I first addressed these issues with you. Any reasonable person would have expected a response much sooner.
Following our initial discussion, I made multiple attempts to contact you, including sending text messages, a certified letter to the business address listed on the contract, and escalating the matter to both the Better Business Bureau and the District Attorneys Office. Despite these efforts, I received no response from you until now.
Due to the lack of action on your part, I have since reset the post myself and completed the remaining work, aside from the gate repairs, at my own expense in both time and materials. I am currently obtaining quotes from fence contractors to dismantle and reinstall the gates this year, as they are inoperable.
At this point, I do not wish for you or your workers to enter my property, as I no longer have confidence in your companys ability to properly rebuild and reinstall the gates.
Sincerely,
**** TankaBusiness Response

Dear ****,
Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns and experiences. It sounds like this has been a frustrating situation for you, and I understand your disappointment with the lack of timely communication and resolution.
It's clear that you've taken extensive measures to address the issues on your own, and I can see why you've decided to proceed independently with the remaining work. Your decision to seek other contractors is understandable given the circumstances.
If there's anything specific you would like advice on or further assistance with, please feel free to let me know. I'm here to help in any way I can.
Best regards,

I had a fence installed. After 2 weeks they promised to correct weakness and replace parts of fence that bad material was used. They keep promising and promising me but nothing has happened. The fence is unusable in the back and we cannot access from the back. I don't want to do anything to make it worse. Owner admitted the material used was bad in the first place. Either fix the issues or return half of cost of fence.Business Response

In August of 2021 I paid $9,000.00 for American Standards Builders to install a Cedar fence that they advised came with a 5yr warranty. The post on both front and back get were installed incorrectly and are now crooked, we cannot open our front gate and it has started to chip away at the wood and the back gate is also getting there. I have called both *** and *****, texted, left voicemails and emailed. I got back one response when I emailed I would be contacting the BBB. I called *** as requested in the reply, we agreed he'd stop by Monday June 26th to take a look at the gate and see what needed to be done to fix the problem. No one has stopped by nor answered my calls or text messages and we are now at the end of September. I have not asked them for a refund or any additional work but for them to provide me the proper service and work they agreed to do when they accepted my payment.Business Response
