Wilber believes I was/am the owner of a car that was involved in an accident in Chicago. I have never owned the car mentioned or had it registered to me. Woman at Wilber quickly discovered there where two birthdates in her system for my name, 30 years apart. She then asked if I knew or was related to the ******** born in 19xx to which my only response was that I did not need to answer that. She then called me rude and hung up. I need a resolution to this case and my name/info removed from this case. I do not have to answer for any other people including the other ******** born in 19xx.Business Response

Thank you for the opportunity to review this file for Mr. *****. We are handling a claim on behalf of our client, an insurance company, whose policyholder was hit by an uninsured motorist. Our skip trace efforts on the 2004 Dodge Stratus's license plates show that ******** ***** was a co-owner of that vehicle, which is the vehicle that hit our client's policyholder. As it appears we may be searching for a party with the same name as Mr. ***** - he has been removed from our file and will no longer be contact about this claim. A letter will be sent stating the same. Thank you again.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response. My initial bill went from $500 to an outrageous amount of $23,000. The vehicle was not worth $23,000 and they did not have any injury's. Especially if you can leave a car accident seen to go get **** ***** and return laughing away when me an my son ended up at the ER. This is fraud.Business Response

Thank you for providing the forum to respond to the complaint from Ms. ******. Her minor son was involved in a theft of our client's policyholder's vehicle. Our client had to pay to repair that vehicle and is seeking reimbursement from the minor's guardian. The police identified her son as the driver of the stolen vehicle that was wrecked. We have now closed this file in our office based on the request of Ms. ******, but will inform our client she does not want to work this us towards a solution so they can decide the next steps to take.Initial Complaint

I sold a car last summer to a neighbor. And apparently he never registered the vehicle and he got into a wreck resulting in 10k loss for damage Obviously he had no insurance The debt collector for the insurance agency Wilbur n associates keeps harassing me for the money threatening to suspend my license threatening to cancel my registration to my car calling and calling non stop I sent them a police report for stolen tags Now the police report was 2 months after the wreck occurred however I wasn’t aware the car was in a wreck until the insurance company of the other driver contacted me around Christmas stating a vehicle I owned was in a wreck and they want my money I thought yeah right I haven’t been in a wreck then it came to me I sold the car But I have my plates right so I look for the plates where I put all that stuff and they were gone so I reported them stolen Now I have pics of the title as a bill of sale with his name on the buyer dated for June then my name as the seller and apparently that’s not enough m even me saying I sold the car and him saying he bought the car it still isn’t enough to stop harassing me and threatening to oppress me which I’m sure is illegal I feel like since then the guy I sold the car to has no job and no assets they figure they will just harass me until I pay and that’s never going to happen How is this even allowed to go on number one And number two what can I do to counter. I recently started receiving some emails from my current insurance company regarding a claim that I had opened for a “car accident” in June 2024. I have never been in a car accident in June 20 24, I called my insurance company and found that Wilbur company was calling them for a current claim of $160.24 that involved a former car that I owned but was subsequently totaled by ****, the insurance company of the person who hit me in late 2023. They’re claiming this accident happened on June 9, 2024, I handed in the car to **** as a totaled Vehicle per their determination in February 2024. I had gone through the appropriate paperwork with our motor vehicle department here in Connecticut when I took my old car off of registration and insurance added for my new car that I had to purchase. My current insurance company sent me an email with specifics of what the Wilbur company was trying to collect, including the names of a person who was driving my former car as well as the claimant. I do not know either one of these people. I decided to call the Wilbur company this afternoon and talked to a person name ******* I believe. She was extremely rude. When I calmly explained to her the situation that I did not own the car in June 2024 and further explained that the car was totaled and purchased from me by ****. She said I had to show proof that this was done. I tried to explain to her that she should really call **** directly, she started talking over me and would not let me talk. Clearly, she was attempting to monopolize the conversation and provides scare tactics. She then hung up on me. When I looked on the this Better Business Bureau site, I see many other complaints made about this company. I truly would appreciate your help in resolving this company harassing me. It will be one year next month since I have passed that car to **** and as a matter of fact, I videotaped the tow truck coming and taking the car away in my driveway. This whole event is very suspicious to me.Business Response

My daughter was involved in an accident on September 1, 2023 were she rear ended the other driver. The other driver in front of her which clearly stated on the police report that there was a dog who ran in front of her and she had no choice but to slam on her brakes which resulted in my daughter hitting her from the back. She did not have enough time to stop as it was 5pm traffic. Which resulted into the accident. The police also agreed it’s on video clearly stating because the dog ran out in front of her and she slammed on the brakes she didn’t give my daughter enough time to stop. Now Wilber calling my phone my daughters phone who was 17 at the time seeking payment. While I initially agreed only because they were threating to suspend our license I contacted a lawyer who stated not to make any payments that my daughter is not at fault and we can fight the claim. Now Wilber is seeking over $12,000 from myself and my daughter and claiming if they do not receive it, they will suspend our license. Now we are not going to pay anything and we are going to have to dispute it and even tho my insurance did lapse at the time that is besides the point because on the police report as well as the police officer confirming she was not at fault and yet we still keep getting phone calls and threatening my child as well as me is completely unacceptable.Business Response

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to *********** complaint. We are handling a claim on behalf of our client, who insured the vehicle that *********** daughter rear-ended. We do have the police report, which indicates that our client's insured stopped abruptly to avoid hitting a dog however *********** daughter has a duty to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of her in the event they do have to stop abruptly. Since the vehicle that *********** daughter was driving was uninsured at the time of the loss, our client is seeking reimbursement for the damages their client sustained as a result of this accident. We can inform the state of the incident so that they can review it and act in accordance with their financial responsibility laws. Since ********* is requesting, we no longer contact her daughter, we will close the file in our office and inform our client so that they may decide the next steps.Initial Complaint

I am rejecting this response because:
Number 1 we had car repoed from ****** sept 26th 2024..This could not 100 percent be correct!
Also he was at work at time of accident that was said to have happened.
Plus the way this company handled the whole thing was absolutely rude and awful contacting put of state relatives being rude as can be threatening that we were on a video court date when we had no clue what was even going on then just 800 calls a day when we have told them repeatedly we want to see video claim and nothing period we have never even heard from police and or seen police report and we have tried there are no records??!! So absolutely ?? percent wrong information and assumption of whatever went on .
Thanks again

I have requested the police report from our client, who does have the police report, and will provide it to the complainant upon receipt. The State still believes the car is registered to the complainant's husband therefore when the license plate number was looked up by the police, we received his information. We have no evidence that the vehicle was repossessed, nor do we have evidence of her husband being at work therefore we were reaching out to discuss the matter and apparently neither does the database the police use to search license plates. We are happy to review any documentation that supports the complainant's story.Business Response

Filing this complaint because this company is coming after funds on a joint-owned vehicle that was involved in an accident with no insurance. I am a co-owner but have not seen the vehicle in 2+ years. My ex girlfriend failed to keep insurance on it and as far as i know it had insurance as recently as 3 months before the accident. The issue is they are coming exclusively after me and not the person involved in the accident on the police report. My license is being suspended which means im getting fired from the post office.Business Response

I was contacted from wilbur and associates about an auto accident that occurred in a parking lot almost a year ago. The 2 parties(not me) traded insurance info at that time. The other driver pulled into a ******* ****** lot illegally and went into the drive thru with going around the building as posted on the property. My kid was going around the building a he was suppose to. These 2 collided. There was minimal damage to my auto so I didn't pursue anything. No we are being told we are at fault. We are not. These butt's are threatening my license. There is no police report, no contact until just recently. We were not at fault. But because state farm doesn't want to pay anything they are trying to make us, the party not at fault. Like I stated, our car had literally paint scratches on the bumper. I'm not seeing $2400 damage on the other car. They're is no police report so how did they come to the conclusion we are at fault. Line i stated earlier. This restraunt has a bad entrance from the road. There is signs everywhere that say you must drive around the building to enter drive thru. Wilbur's client did not do that. Therefore causing an incident. We are not responsible. And their threats of suspending my license and plates on my vehicle is actually not even legal.Business Response

Thank you for providing us an opportunity to respond to Mr. *******' complaint. We're handling an automobile subrogation claim on behalf our client arising out of an accident between their policyholder and Mr. *****. Our client did an investigation and based on that investigation determined that Mr. ***** was responsible for striking their policyholder's vehicle in the parking lot. Since our client was unable to locate active insurance for Mr. *****'s vehicle to cover the damages to their policyholder's vehicle our client asked that we seek reimbursement directly from Mr. *****. Based on his Mr. *****'s request to no longer be contact about this claim, we have closed the file in our office and advised our client so they can determine the next steps.
