Skyline Publishing reached out to me at the beginning of January asking if i would like to place an ad in the Salisbury City maps for my company. I asked them to send me a quote/ invoice for the work that would be done. They sent me an invoice in the mail. I received a call from Skyline publishing on January 30, 2023 of them demanding that I pay the amount of $250 and if I did not they would send the charge to a collection agency. I responded with I never gave conformation that I wanted to place an ad with them. There is no formal documentation that I agreed to payment, no payment information was ever exchanged. The representative of Skyline became angry with me and hung up abruptly. I called them back and they eventually answered me back. I later got off the phone with them and called the local advertising representative for Rowan County/ Salisbury, NC. She confirmed that Salisbury does not do any business with Skyline Publishing nor is there as Salisbury City Map. She also explained to me that the city of Salisbury gets calls often from different companies wanting to run advertising magazines in the county, they usually turn them down to avoid the headache for the small business owners of Rowan County. I gave the representative for Salisbury Marketing the phone number of Skyline publishing, she proceeded to call them and told them this is no way to operate a business and Skyline Publishing does not have and never did have the OK from the city of Salisbury to run advertisement. If the amount of $250 is sent to a collection agency I plan to dispute the charge.

The customer stated he said to send him an invoice which we did. Then when the work was done and it was time to pay for the advertisement, he said he didn't order it.  He gave us the code word "*****" (Pets Name) as confirmation of ordering the ad. If when the invoice was received, he would have called to cancel, we could have done so. Now that the work has been done, we feel that *** ***** is responsible for the advertisement he ordered. We do not work with the City/County to do these maps, and we do not need permission to do so. Attached is a copy of the advertisement we made for him. We apologize for putting you in the middle of this matter. -Management

I am rejecting this response because:

The company put very minimal effort into creating the ad, attached is the ad that is placed in the Salisbury post.  There is very minimal difference in the two ads. The only change in the two ads is background color. To say that there was a lot of work put into the creation to the ad is an understatement.

We used the ad *** ***** told us to use. We feel like that is not even the point, just another reason to complain. We apologize for selling you an ad in the first place. We will cancel your ad and remove it from everything we have. Unfortunately we deal with thousands of customers. Not all of them will be happy with what we do, but our job is to bring new customers to them. We try to do the best we can to provide quality products for the public and we wish we could make everyone happy every time. Unfortunately that is not the case. We also apologize to the BBB for putting you through this in the first place. - **** **
