Calling saying they are working for local HS. Called HS and they never heard of them and not doing business with them. Ladies name was Danielle V********.

Brad, Royal publishing has a signed agreement with the Athletic Director at B********* **** ******* Taylor W*****, to produce the souvenir programs for their upcoming softball regional tournament. Not sure who you spoke with at the school, but rest assured, we are legit. Danielle called to offer your business an advertisement in the programs and her presentation is written as "in regards to B********* **** ******". Though we monitor calls, especially with our new reps like Danielle, we cannot hear everything, Our manager is talking with her now to make sure she is not saying the wrong thing. We have been in business since 1979 and take this very seriously, so we apologize for any words that may have not come out as clear as they are intended.

They are scammers you do not list on your website. This disappoints me. They use the BBB name freely so people trust them and get conned. Can you tell us the percentage of money they give to the schools? Our States Attorney will only look into it with a police report. Please give them a donation and then see what percentage gets to the school then file a police report.

Looking at these reviews, Royal Publishing uses a playbook of poor ethics and deception similar to what I experienced. It started with the sales rep calling and pretending he was employed by one of our local high schools. He presented himself as a rep of the school and as it turns out he had zero affiliation with them. He asked me to buy an ad for the volleyball team, and when the invoice arrived, it showed the ad ran in a gym at a completely different school. I would never advertise in another school district because we have a charter that prohibits us from doing business in other districts. They also ran an ad that was never approved. They provided a proof with our name spelled wrong, and I requested it be fixed and re-proofed. That never happened and they went to press with the bad ad. At this point in the relationship, I know the sales rep lied about who he worked for, lied about where my ad would be placed, and ran an ad that had spelling errors after they were asked not to. I told my rep we weren’t paying. Then the sales rep starts getting loud trying to poke his finger in my chest like it was my fault he told his printer to go ahead and run the bad ad. They felt entitled to payment even though they habitually lied to me AND screwed up the ad. At their request, I finally agreed to pay half the bill just to get them to go away and terminate our relationship. Our check cleared in January, and I've gotten two more notices to pay the other half of the bill since then, and it's now April. I called their accounting department, and I tried calling and emailing the sales rep just to be told they don’t know what I’m talking about regarding their offer to split the difference. I have all the emails from the sales rep, but the accounting department won’t accept them, and the sales rep will no longer answer me. I hope every company that has these issues also contacts their state attorney general. These are unacceptable ethics and unacceptable business practices.

Bryan, let me start first by saying I am sorry for the experience you had with our rep. I have reviewed the notes and clearly our rep mishandled the situation. Though we do monitor calls, we cannot monitor them all and so we cannot control everything said by each. What I can tell you is that we value your business. You have been a great customer and supporter of athletics in your community as shown by the 40 ads purchased by your credit union just looking back to 2002. Our reps are certainly not to imply they are with the school. Their presentation reads "calling on behalf of ____High School" and if our rep gave any other indication I am sorry. In their presentation they are to indicate the event they are calling for and tell where the event is being held, in this case W***** **** ******** **** competed in the first round of the state volleyball tournament, the Districts, which were held October 30-November 4 at **** *****. Unfortunately not every school gets to host each year. Regarding the request for a proof--the ad was sold on the deadline date and we don't normally have time. However, our rep should have explained that and given you an option, or found a work-around. With regards to your comments about how he acted afterwards, I can only apologize and assure you this is being handled internally. Nobody else here was apprised of the situation until a couple of days ago or rest assured this would have been dealt with earlier and differently. Through my 36 years of working here I have realized that though the actions of individuals definitely impact the whole, I can only hope that this situation can be resolved to your satisfaction.

Kathy Johnson has called our office at least 3 times this week even though we have told he we are not interested in her services. She always calls from an "anonymous" phone number that is untraceable. By reading the previous reviews, this appears to be a scam/phishing phone call. Please remove us from your call list. This is borderline harassment at this point.

      Royal Publishing Co., Inc. Response

      01/02/2024

I am unable to note a Do Not Call on your account as I do not know what business you are. If you please provide that and your phone number I can handle that for you. My apologies for the number of calls you are getting; however, if the number is showing anonymous then it's very reasonable to assume they aren't all from us. We make calls using a VoIP system and sometimes the calls don't show a number, and with changes in the VoIP calls this past year sometimes they are flagged though they are coming from a live source. Again, my apologies.

Royal Publishing is selling ad space for a product that does not exist. They are claiming to be working with T**** **** ****** *********) but there is no relationship or contract between Royal Publishing and ***** ****** District. When they call our Chamber members, their phone conversation is very shady, not mentioning their company name and the call comes up as "private". They say they are working with the ***** Wrestling Program - and they are not. ***** has absolutely no connection with Royal Publishing. The ****************** ************ ********** Chamber of Commerce has had issues with Royal Publishing for over twenty years and now our Chamber members are being harassed with phone calls, soliciting something that does not exist. They actually called the Chamber office today to sell us an ad on a product that doesn't exist and was NOT approved by the ***** ****** District. Please, watch out. Royal Publishing has been in business since 1979 and is the longest running Licensed Program Vendor for the ******** High School Association. In addition, since 2001 we have been producing programs for the ******** Elementary Association State Championships. We have never, and will never, sell advertising space for any product that does not exist. From 1995 until 2021 our company produced the regular season sports programs for ***** High School and pocket schedules for both the high school and middle school. Recently the Chamber received a phone call for the 62nd Annual "*** *******" "Wrestling Tournament at ******* **** in which ***** High is competing and has competed as long as we have been providing the programs for the tournament (since 2004). Our rep did not say they were "working with the ***** Wrestling program"; they said they were calling in regards to ***** High that is competing in the Wrestling tournament at ******* ****. We have also been producing the regular season programs since 1999 for ******* **** High. In addition, The ***** High Athletic Director recently contracted with Royal Publishing to provide the programs for the 2023 **** Volleyball Regional that they hosted. To say that ***** HS has no relationship, contract, or connection with us is a falsehood on your part. To explain the phone calls coming up that way: we have many more extensions than actual lines and so more often than not the calls don't show a phone number as the ID--that certainly does not make us "shady". Rest assured, everything "your" members have gotten a call about has been real, authentic, valid, approved, and again, most certainly does in fact exist. Royal Publishing is asking the Chamber to please remove this slanderous review and fact-check their information.

This is a shady scam. They represent themselves as calling on behalf of a local school and want to sell ad space. High pressure, super rude & disrespectful. Don't give them any info or money!! Spoke with Rachel ************. Block it in your phones ahead of time.

      Royal Publishing Co., Inc. Response

      03/24/2023

Jackie, it was quite a chore determining what business you are from and what program you were called for, but we believe you are with ********* **** ******* in ******** ** and were called for your local high school that had just advanced into the MHSAA State Boys Basketball Championships. Congratulations to your local school--the Defenders at Tri-Unity and good luck in the tournament! Royal Publishing is definitely not a "scam". We have been in business since 1979, we have written agreements with the schools and state organizations we work with, and we publish and deliver programs to thousands of schools each year, all including advertising from local businesses such as yours. The program you were called for was the MHSAA State Basketball tournament programs for this week's games. Perhaps this is not something your business is interested in (we show you haven't purchased an ad since 2010), but many businesses are and like to show their support for the school in this manner, along with gaining advertising value. I am very sorry that you felt pressure and that you feel one of our reps was rude to you as we certainly don't condone that at our company. Your statement that we call "on behalf of" the school is accurate as we are not WITH the school, but must of course mention the school name or you wouldn't know why we were calling. We will note that you don't wish to be called anymore, and again, we apologize for any inconvenience.

Was contacted by an agent to buy advertising in a local girls basketball program that our local high school team was playing in.... but the basketball season hasn't even started to know if the local time will make it tournaments. Shady sales tactic and very misleading. Even the email i was sent states that the local team is in the tournament! Buyer/ advertiser beware!

      Royal Publishing Co., Inc. Response

      12/07/2022

Tiffany, our rep (Chesea) called you for ********** High which WILL BE playing in the first round of the state playoffs which are called the Sectionals. ALL teams play in round one, the Sectionals, regardless of their record. If they win they will advance into the districts, and from there the Regionals. Nothing was "shade", rest assured. Our agreements to provide tournament programs are with the OHSAA and the individual Districts that serve them, in this case the Northeast District Board.
