As a family we tried so hard to do our homework to make sure we found a good fit for our mom so she would be successful in rehabilitating and getting strong enough to move to ******* and live in a skilled nursing facility closer to family. My sister spoke to the Assistant Administrator ****** about Alden and had such a good feeling after talking to her, but it turns out, we now feel like she was a yes person that would have told us whatever it is we wanted to hear to get us in there. I was shocked at the appearance of the place after being told it had just gone through a two million dollar renovation. The beds were outdated. They had no side rails which we asked for because she uses those to help move herself because she isn't ambulating well. After several days and several reminders it got done. The walls in her room were patchy and scraped up missing paint. They had vertical blinds missing a lot of slats, that was a uneasy feeling on ground level where anyone can see into your window. The tv wasnt working, so she would have something to do to pass time. We told them ahead of time she has bad back stenosis and how uncomfortable she gets that she would need a air bed put on her bed. We were promised that would be done before she arrived and it wasnt. We had to complain for days for them to put it on and then it continued to beep and not work properly the remainder of the time she was there. The food was terrible. Call lights take forever, people are not warm and fuzzy. They only got her out of the bed during the 5 days she was there for dialysis, not even to toilet. They didnt turn or boost her enough causing the start of a bed sore. She expressed a fear of some night aides saying they didnt like her and were being mean. Cold was ignored until I was so uncomfortable with her breathing I asked for ambulance and she has been in hospital for 9 days with pneumonia. She cried and said she was happy we got her out & she didnt die there.
