I purchased this vehicle in September I was assured by the sales man Ephraim that there were no issues with the vehicle. I tried returning the vehicle after it died repeatedly on me while coming to and from work. I was only given a used battery then was told the transmission line wasnt on the vehicle which I was made to pay. Along with the fuel pump filter needing to be removed. ****** later the alternator goes out while being in the next city over had to pay 1000 in repairs ontop of buying a new battery costing over 200. I went into the shop multiple times and employees blew me off even after August telling me to come in and have alternator checked. Then proceeded to tell me that they couldnt check it. *** called every other day trying to speak to a supervisor and I keep getting told hes not there but theyre still expecting me to pay the biweekly note ontop of doing all the repairs that shouldve been checked prior to. Vehicle leaving the car lot. My truck died in the middle of the highway in ******** IL this is a safety hazard at this point and the business isnt being ran properly. I just would like to be done with this company and go to a more professional establishment. August hides in the bathroom and ******* is extremely rude. This is a 2006 **** escape the repairs alone are more than the car itself. I just want my money back and to be done with this lot. I tried to return vehicle when the first issues started and was told I had to pay it down to ***** for another trade in which is ridiculous. Ive had to get the wheel bearing repairs the alternator new battery as well as the struts. I missed my state boards Ive missed job opportunities as I am a traveling nurse . Its put myself and my kids health in jeopardy. Staff does not seem to care just wants me to continue shelling out money.

      Dear BBB,

This customer at the time of sale understood that the vehicle was sold as-is no warranty, however we still did try and help her when she first bought the car, but now it has been 7 months and the car has probably been driven a few thousand miles. ** most people know cars do break and we clearly inform our customers they will need to maintain and repair their vehicles at the time of sale by having the customers read and sign the as-is no warranty and the I understand sheet.

      Complaint: 21575919

I am rejecting this response because:
Although yes I was aware of the as is form as I signed it. However when being sold the vehicle I was told by ******* that the car had no issues . However a month after getting the vehicle Ive had nothing but issues. Issue I should  not have had if the vehicle was screened properly. Yes repairs were made by the shop that  I had to pay for. An alternator is something that is supposed to be checked as the salesman agreed when I came in with this issue. The alternator was bad I had to pay over $1,000 for the alternator alone. $200 for a battery because I was continuously given damaged ones from the car lot. You guys just had to give me a new battery a few months ago therefore multiple opportunities to check the alternator. I came in asking for it to be checked and your staff gave nonstop lies. ******* said he had the tool but didnt know how to use it August said ******* knows how to use it but didnt have the tool. Ive been asking for management and this is my first contact *** even received. August hid in the restroom and ******* was extremely rude and walked off. I missed my state nursing  boards due to the car dying in ******** . The only resolution I was given was to pay to get it towed for them to look at something they shouldve already looked at. August him self said it shouldve been checked prior to selling it to me. I have been trying to swap out /return this car since the first month I had it. *** missed multiple classes and multiple job opportunities as a traveling nurse due to the nonstop issues. So the business telling me hey you get what you get since you signed the papersdoes not satisfy me. Them thinking Im going to continue shelling out money for a lemon and continue making my payments on time does not satisfy me.
      Sincerely,

      *************************

      Dear BBB,

I do not understand why the customer rejected the claim we even gave her $500 off her balance on the car to partly compensate for the repairs even though we did not have any legal obligation to do so. The customer agreed to this compensation over the phone also.

I was leased a vehicle from this company and was told that the vehicle did not have any motor or transmission issues whatsoever. I also was not told that the vehicle was a repossessed vehicle and therefore was not aware of the damage or issues that occurred when the previous owner had it. After leasing the vehicle I realized that it was problems right away so I returned the vehicle within 3 days and complained about the vehicle. The owner assured me that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. I returned again after about 5 days after the first time and again described the issues that I was experiencing with the vehicle. The owner again stated that the issues that I was experiencing was nothing to worry about. So I took the vehicle to an auto repair shop and had a diagnostic test done on the entire vehicle and they gave me a list of issues and problems that the vehicle had. I returned the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the repair shop didnt know what they were talking about and that he wasnt going to do anything about my problems and issues with the vehicle. I have documented paperwork for the vehicle diagnostic test for which I paid for.

      Dear BBB,

The customer did come to us about some issues with car shortly after he bought it. The customer brought into ** a bumper to bumper diagnostic on the vehicle done by another shop in the area. Most of the things that they pointed out we checked and determined that the were not things that were bad, however we did see that the valve cover gaskets were slightly leaking and we even offered to do the gaskets for him; however, I am unsure if he ever came back to get them done. I also do not understand what the customer means by the car was a repo or how this has anything to do with the vehicle. Also the vehicle was sold as-is as shown in the document above.

      Customer response

      05/02/2024

I am rejecting this response because: I do not accept his response because it is a lie because when I return the car with the diagnostic from a repair shop, we checked the car and I pointed out to him. The transmission leak the valve cover gasket leaks, as well as the gasoline leak. Owner of Carlyle auto sales told me that he was going to charge me to do the work for the transmission leak the valve cover gasket leaks, and the gasoline leak. I refuse to pay for the repairs and he told me that he was not going to do the work that was after, I only had the car for five days. So I would like my case to be reopened because I didnt receive your response because my email address was not accurate on file.

      Sincerely,

      Dear BBB,

The fact of the matter is that ****** signed a as-is agreement which means he was fully responsible for any defects with the car at the time of sale.

I bought the car on 3/8/24. I had to take it back once due to oil light coming on while driving, they topped it off with oil and sent me on my way. Later that night I was driving home from a relatives house and all of a sudden the car would not steer and it locked I was on a curve the axle broke and it became very scary. Police came took a report and I sent the night in the *** Went to the car lot to see what they would do and they said it was my fault and they would not do anything! I'm now out a thousand dollars and a vehicle to get to work.

      Business response

      03/15/2024

To begin I will say that the customer did buy said car on 3/8/24 and he did come back when the oil light came on a few hours later. We took the car into the shop and checked it out and found that the car was one qt low on oil we gave him the oil at no charge and checked all other fluids and sent him on his way. Later on Saturday we got a call from the customer saying that the axle/tie rod broke causing him to crash into whatever he crashed into. Immediately after he informed us about this I personally went over to the location of the vehicle to assess the damage. That is when I took detailed pictures of the part that he said broke that caused him to crash. When you examine the images you can see that the axle does not appear to be broke and the tie rod end is the thing that actually broke, but if you look at the tie rod end you can see that it did not actually brake either and it is still attached. What we concluded is that the customer hit an object of some kind and then after hitting said object the tie rod broke due to a blunt force from hitting another object. As of 3/15 customer is refusing to take out an insurance claim and is not willing to give the vehicle back to us for future inspection.

On October 26/2022 I put down **** on a jeep liberty after 30 days the transmission went out and the will not replace my vehicle

      Business response

      01/18/2023

The purpose of this email is to explain the situation with this complaint. Yes the claim is true the vehicle was purchased on 10/26/22 for $1000 down. The car was sold AS-IS with no warranty; however, we understand that used vehicles may develop problems with them after a sale and we are willing to work with any customer to either get the car fixed or replaced. In this case however the customer was delinquent in making their payments and this led to a repossession of the car. They did redeem the vehicle and continued not to make payments towards the car. So yes we have tried our best to work with this customer, but they need to be willing to catch up on their payments and put a down payment towards the repair because as we all know everything has a cost to it in the business world.
