After a basement flood on Christmas (2024) day(!), a mitigation crew hired by my insurance company performed what is called a "flood cut." This means they remove every single piece of drywall from the floor upwards to 24 inches. This is to get rid of wet drywall - let the studs dry out - and then treat for mold. Once that drywall was removed, I saw cracks in my basement walls which were leaking water. A couple were so bad that I could not believe they didn't soak all the way through the drywall, but they didn't. Obviously, these cracks had to be repaired, and my insurance does not cover it. I am no kind of handyman - so I decided to bite the bullet - and have the pros do it. I went onto the websites of both ***** ***l and US Waterproofing. Both have templates in which you can schedule an inspection and get a quote for repairs. I did both, and submitted them within minutes of each other. US WP confirmed my appointment immediately; ***** ***l totally blew me off. Mr. John ***** from US WP came to see me. He performed what I thought was a very thorough evaluation; even going outside to turn on a hose faucet so as to create more water flow. He identified 9 cracks. 3 leaked very badly, 3 pretty badly, and 3 which were not (yet) leaking. He told me about US WP 2-step process, and lifetime warranty. Then he quoted me $7800 to fix all 9 cracks. I got up off the floor and told him not a chance; insurance pays nothing toward this. John changed his offer to 6 cracks for $4800. I told him my bottom line was $4K even. He called his boss and lobbied for me. The boss said OK, if I pre-paid. I did. I am so glad John worked it out! A week later, he sent a great crew of Alex and Jose. Very personable guys, and very hard workers, too. Once they showed me all their special tools, materials, and especially their patented methods, I realized that fixing basement walls is no easy task. I was hugely impressed by their work, and give US WP my highest recommendation!U.S. Waterproofing

1 starI had water coming into my crawl space originated from behind my front door stoop when it rained hard. I hired US Waterprroofing to do the jjob of removing the front stoop pavers and concrete base and apply a waterproofing membrane to the brick and foundation. I chose not to replace the pavers and have them pour a concrete stoop and step instead because I would have had to hire a paver specialist to replace them, on top of the cost of nearly $10,000 US waterproofing was charging me. I had just had my paver walkway cleaned and sealed earlier that summer. I asked them to be careful and cover my walkway pavers to not damage them. When they completed the job and showed me, everything was wet. And when concrete is wet it shows dark, which blended with my pavers. The next day when it was dry, there was a coat of cement film all over my courtyard pavers, along with thicker cement caked on the pavers closest to the step, splatter on the house bricks and on my front door. I called and all I got back was a text saying to try removing it with a power washer. I don’t own one. I stopped payment and when they realized that a few days later I finally got a call. They said I needed to pay for the job they did and I said I would when they come to take care of the damage they did. They came to look at the mess and insinuated it was my fault for having my walkway pavers done before this job. I told them it doesn’t matter when they were done, they should have been careful with someone’s property no matter what. I agreed to payment once they came to do the work. They worked on removing the cement from my brick and sanded down the caked on cement on the front row pavers just below the step. They told me they would have a paver specialist deal with the cement on the rest of the pavers. It’s been 2 months and I haven’t heard anything from them since. I’m assuming they have done front stoops before. They should have known how to prevent damage to surrounding property. Train better.Review fromWilliam H

Bait and switch. And up selling. Steer clear. They gave me a price that worked I signed contracts and thought I was done. But no, a supervisor have to come out too take a look even though I've already given over $2,000.00 in a deposit. Then I'm told that over $2,000.00 worth of extra work was over looked. But as he said "I went to bat for you and they came down to $400.00 after they said it would be an extra $2,000.00". So I told him no thanks please refund my deposit. Then I get a text saying that now the manager will do it for the original price. Now they won't give back my deposit. This is the worst experience I've ever had with any business in my life!!!U.S. Waterproofing

Thank you for your feedback. Were very sorry to hear about your recent experience and understand your frustration. We strive for transparency and fairness in all our dealings, and its clear that we fell short in your case. We issued a refund for your deposit, but it appears that communication and follow-through were problematic, and we deeply regret the inconvenience this has caused you.Your experience is not reflective of our usual standards, and we are taking your feedback seriously to prevent similar issues in the future.Review fromBenito B

Work done in my father's crawlspace "appears" minimally satisfactory but at an outrageous price. Dad had already signed contract before I called owner to ask several questions which were beyond the range of my dad and sibling's knowledge base. For instance, can't you just fix the cracks in crawlspace walls, fix the gutter extension which was broken off, make other gutter extensions longer and then wait to see if it would still be necessary to install full length drain pipes and sump pump system in crawlspace? Answer: No, it will always leak if we don't do this.Really? After 20 some years of my parents living there I never detected standing WET surfaces on the top of the pea gravel. I did notice dampness in soil if I dug down below the pea gravel in areas where there were cracks in the walls that needed to be fixed.OK, but how will your work interfere with the radon mitigation that was planned for later in the spring? "It will have nothing to do with the radon," was the statement owner made to my sister. Funny thing is, turns out the radon contractor is going to have to lay down plastic throughout the entire crawlspace (ON TOP of what my dad already paid US Waterproofing to lay down!) and then truly seal the pieces of that layer to each other and to the walls of the crawlspace. US Waterproofing's cheaper layers of plastic were not sealed to support posts, each other, or the plastic seepage strips installed on the walls. The entire radon mitigation, which also includes lots of piping and an exhaust fan, electrical work, drilling multiple holes in *****, etc., will cost half (!) of the price of the work done by US Waterproofing. While the company might try to rationalize why they charge so much more, it can't be denied we were lied to when telling us their work would have nothing to do with the radon work. Also, I am installing a device at the sump pump outlet to record whether that sump pump ever even kicks in. I won't hold my breath.U.S. Waterproofing

We appreciate you sharing your concerns and apologize for any miscommunication or inconvenience you experienced. We strive to provide clear and honest assessments and are sorry to hear that this was not your experience. Fixing only the visible cracks and gutter extensions without installing the full drainage system may not provide a long-term solution. While your parents may not have noticed standing water, damp soil below the surface indicates potential issues that could worsen over time. We understand your concerns about the cost. Our pricing reflects the materials and labor required to provide a comprehensive and lasting solution. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention.Review fromTodd K.

I called US Waterproofing on 4/12 when I heard a chirping sound coming from my backup sump pump. It was a Friday afternoon so I had little hope of anyone coming out that day. I was told Wednesday would be the earliest appointment. ****, the gentleman who took my call, then checked with a technician on how to get rid of the chirping. Not wishing to go down the rabbit hole with all the wires, I declined. **** then checked to see what else he could do, found someone in my area who would come over that afternoon. ******** came out to do adjustments. My battery would no longer hold a charge. He explained what needed to be done. I got an appointment for Tuesday, the 16th. ******, the technician, arrived promptly, installed and explained the new system to me. He was personable, did a good job, left the area clean. I am a longtime customer and use this company again.U.S. Waterproofing
