1 starI deeply regret bringing my car in for service on Saturday January *******. I came in for sensor replacement Initially the service technician ******* (who was actually courteous), said I would get the car back later in the week. That never happened. Each and every time, I would have to initiate contact and inquire about the status of my car. There would be a couple of instances where I wouldn't even get a response. Normally , I would be ok with this if I was told ahead of time an actual realistic time frame especially since allegedly there are so many problems with the car. However , each and every time, the technician made it seem like the car would be ready in a couple of days. Essentially kicking the can down the road. So I call the shop today (2/24) and asked to speak to a manager. A manager named **** answered my call and erroneously claimed that the facility has been responsive and that it is not their responsibility to provide daily updates. (As a matter of fact, he was touting the fact that the last update was on 2/19/25) However , the facility has rarely provided ANY updates even though I was promised periodic updates. I would always have to reach out. If one is unable to provide periodic updates, one should not promise that. Although , the courteous thing to do would be to do so. **** was basically defensive , lacked empathy and was a total gaslighter. He would not let me get a word in edgewise and absolutely refused to listen to my concerns. It has been a month since I have not had my car and all **** said was "there have been cars here for longer than a month". I proceeded to tell him that I have been patiently waiting for a month and he had the gall to say "no you haven't". Long story short : please avoid this place due to lack of communication from the staff The other employees have been kind in all my interactions (although not responsive). However, I can't help but feel that that particular rot starts at the top with a manager like ****.Review fromChenSha

1 starI got brand new Subaru 2024 crosstrek sport here November 2023.It has 1900 miles, and the bottom is all eroded. I got in yesterday, talked/argued with 5 people, got pushed back and forth between service and sales. 2 guys in the process commented yeah it is REALLY rusted. The employees/upper management I talked to gave me contradictive answers too: 1 person tried to convince me it is normal to be SO eroded after 4 months of use, we cannot fix this for you. 1 person said he had never seen any car getting eroded that early(which by the way proves my car has defected part) but still says we cannot fix this for you. This is so frustrating. I was treated rudely and got yelled at, they are not on the customs side. Its a 4 months old car, parks in my indoor garage and erodes like this. They try to convince me its normal. Im going to call Subaru to get the issue resolved. I will not buy a car here again nor recommend this place to anyone.Review fromTerry & Germaine N

1 starI was in the service department of McGrath Evanston Subaru on January 1, ****, requesting air in my tire, they told me I had a nail in my tire and that it would cost $50.00 to patch the tire, after about 30 minutes the same service guy came out and stated I had needed to replace all 4 tire valves due to air escaping, and that the cost would be an additional $200.00. This did not sit well with me; I had a doctor's *********** scheduled for later that morning and could not wait for the service. After leaving my doctor's *********** I took my car to a different location and was told I did not have a nail in my tire and that I did not need to replace any of my air valves. I paid $35.00 for the service. My tires are fine, and I have had no trouble with air escaping any of my tires to date. McGrath Subaru tried to cheat and scam, me out of $250.00. I am so disappointed in you and your scamming tactics. As a result of your dishonest action, I will never trust my car to you again. McGrath have sent this shop to the dogs. ***** and *******************************Review fromAnn T

1 starThis is a dishonest business. I brought my car in for the recommended ****** mile service. After some expensive routine maintenance, I was also provided a list of recommended service including replacing the control arm bushings @$1200. Realignment would then be needed: additional $159.99. Not knowing what a control arm bushing is, I called a local garage. They checked my car. Control arm bushings were fine. I was told that I was one of several Subaru owners that had been scammed by this dealer with this spurious repair.I will never ever do business with this dealer again and will do what I can to warn other unsuspecting Subaru owners about McGrath Subaru.Review fromDariya T

5 starsI dont think people take the time to leave positive reviews here. Ive been servicing my car with McGrath Subaru for years. My service advisor *********************** and his team are wonderful. Theyre always honest, helpful, professional, and respectful. Never recommended anything I didnt actually need like some places do. Have saved me a lot of money over the years and kept my 2009 Outback running like a dream. Ive never had better service and would recommend them to anyone.Review fromAdriana V

1 starHorrible experience! This dealership makes you feel uncomfortable the whole way through the purchase. This was my experience. I would never recommend someone to this location. They stereotype and try to deceive you. I took my non English speaking mother to purchase a vehicle at this Subaru location. We went in with a loan from the bank before going into dealership. Right away the vendor assumed we had a itin number instead of social because we were latino. In the end we worked out a deal for a vehicle after the sales man starts selling us a type of warranty that he claims is valid for 10 years if purchased. After I demand this in writing he hesitates and claims he made a mistake and that its actually just for 2 years. He apologizes with the excuse that he used to work at ******* so he got mixed up with the warranty time. I did tell him I did not believe him but will accept the mistake he claims he did and so he stops discussing the warranty. We placed a $1000.00 deposit to hold the car they claimed would be ready the 18th. 18 days later I called and they claimed its delayed for 1 more week. The 23rd we come back just to pay the remainder of the money and the sales guys gives us some documents that he says is for them not to sell our information. I read it and its a credit application which we dont need because we were not applying for anything. He says its because of 9/11 and its mandatory to fill this out. Then I refuse and he says ok I will tell my manager to overlook this. We end up going to the back office with a sales manager that says everything is recorded. Talks to us about the same warranty. Starts playing with the numbers Saying the program is not working correctly and not adding the numbers with the warranty they try to sell us. In the end we get fed up and told them just to sell us the car no warranty nothing and that we wanted a refund for charging us double for the star link subscription. Which I have yet to receive a refund for.Review fromRamil A

1 starOn July 25, 2022 I purchased a 2015 ********** Golf VIN: ***************** from Evanston McGrath Subaru. They forced me to sign an arbitration clause. The deal was Ill sign it if they provide me proof of two repairs needed on the 2015 ********** Golf VIN: *****************. Replace the windshield and repair the *** light that was on and causing the car to loose power. The dealership kept the car for a week and called me to say that the repairs was complete. I took ownership of the vehicle on July 29, 2022. The car seem fine in the beginning and after driving it for a few days the *** light has been coming on again in the dash and the car is shaking and loosing power. After contacting the dealership they are refusing to make any repairs to vehicle as they promised to do before I purchased the vehicle. After taking ownership of this vehicle the finance guy *********************** has been calling me trying to shake me down for an $250.00 saying that they inadvertently charged me for suburban taxes instead of chicago taxes. I feel that Evanston McGrath Subaru is not working in the best interest of the customer. They never provide me any proof of the repairs and also I wasnt given any **** of sale for this vehicle showing that Im the new owner of this vehicle.I have contacted them, salesman ************************* and hes hasnt gotten back to me.Can someone please help me stop Evanston McGrath Subaru from taking advantage of hard-working consumers?
