Central Illinois Builders is a building contractors association that was founded in 1955. Its initial purpose was to represent management in construction labor relations matters, which is still a primary focus. Central Illinois Builders became a local chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America in 1956. That charter authorized CIB to represent contractors in a 46-county area of central Illinois. Today CIB is one of 95 nationwide chapters affiliated with AGC.

From its founding, CIB services have expanded and membership has grown. In addition to labor relations, the chapter is involved with legislation before the Illinois General Assembly, safety programs, construction industry education, public agency liaison and interaction with design professionals. CIB also sponsors workers compensation and retirement programs for its member companies. CIB remains dedicated to the purpose of improving the professional standards of the construction industry and the skill, integrity and responsibility of its member firms.
